I don't think anyone at Marvel cares whether their BILLION dollars comes from Toys, T-shirts, Tickets, or men, women, young people or old ones, comic fans or movie fans...they are making a billion dollars so whatever she did or didn't do seemed to work out for them. Anyone that thinks Marvel is in this to make friends and not money may be mistaken. The movie has a better second week hold than IW, AOU, or CW so what in the world is the downside for them...? Some angry fans don't think Marvel wants their money...? Well they are right, Marvel doesn't as long as someone else is ready to buy a ticket.
Wrong. They want everyone's money. They'll take what they can get but don't ever disillusion yourself into thinking they'll give a dollar away willingly.

Wrong. When you are making that much you kinda do stop caring about a little POTENTIAL loss here and there. When someone sits down to eat a bowl of rice...sure they had plans to eat the entire bowl but when a grain or 2 drop onto the restaurant floor are they gonna stop eating and crawl around under the table to retrieve the grain or are they going to keep eating and enjoying their meal and frankly never even remember that a few grains did not make it into their belly. Think it through a little more.

I think Malgus and jal76 must work for Disney. :monkey3 .... :lol

This seems to be like BP all over again. Which to me is most over rated movie of ALL time.

So, Captain Marvel is making money, but still lowest rated movie in the MCU...after 2 weeks. It's still sitting at a 62% viewer score on RT with 70k views, after they purged like 30k views opening weekend between Thursday night into Saturday in order to raise it from it's lowest at 32% to get it into the 50% range...

Oh yeah, it's the false reviews from all the trolls and Russian bots bombing the site...

I'm sure we can look forward to this too to be nominated for an Oscar so as to not angry all the feminists out there. After all, this is the 1st movie with a female lead.. :cuckoo:Finally!!!!

Or maybe you just have so much rice that you don't care either way.

Sure, but the analogy you gave based on what the premise was, is flawed.

When you deliberately single out a potential audience market, you’re creating a potential loss of earnings on your own. You don’t drop grains of rice on the ground intentionally while you’re eating. Not to mention you shouldn’t eat those grains you accidentally drop anyway, since they fell on the floor.

Ha when Disney does well it actually has a negative impact on my business so I wish your doomed to fail angry nerd boycotts would actually work because it would benefit me financially.

You've always been a smart poster on these boards so I don't buy that you actually believe that Disney is deliberately singling anyone out...that's some tin foil hat talk my friend.

Mine?? Why are they my angry nerd boycotts?

I have always had every intention of wanting to see this. Even after Brie opened her big dumb mouth... It was just never a priority for me to see it opening night.

Thank you, I appreciate it. :duff

And not necessarily Disney or production companies, but also when actors or actresses deliberately make controversial remarks, especially when it pertains to people’s immutable characteristics. In the famous words of Michael Jordan: “Republicans buy sneakers, too.”

Sorry. You are the one who isn't thinking it through. You don't understand business.

I see this as Disney attempting to expand their audience by serving to another demographic. Their normal audience is pretty much captured at this point. While there are some people threatening to boycott the film because of perceived political ideologies, many of those same people still intend to watch Endgame and the other properties.

I don't think it was their intention to alienate anyone (that was Brie's fault) but they did want to reach other potential audiences. Luckily for the film, the general reactions have been mid to positive (people mostly thought it was fun, good or just ok) so it's still maintaining a healthy hold on the box office.

Apparently, it is.

I haven’t seen it myself yet, as I’m just sort of getting burned out on the MCU in general. I only go and see the Avengers films. The last stand alone hero film I saw in theaters from the MCU was Ant-Man 2. And before that, it was Ragnarok and Civil War.

I really don't remember the WW movie taking cheap shots at men. Dianna came from a Matriarchy society, so our world was very strange to her. She wanted to above all, help mankind. She stood up to her mother, She called out the British general, as he deserved. She inspired the others with her. She was more heroic just in her walk through no-mans land. Then CM's was in the whole last battle scene. IMHO

Still gives me chills!

What a great scene.. I agree that is was chill inducing.

That is where the director / writer failed with Captain Marvel.. Her "Get up" moment should have given me chills but we never really observed her fail and fall in the film.. just in some very quick flash backs.. So when the "get up" moment happens it just falls a bit flat. Or the build up just failed because we see her as CM from the very beginning.

We had to wait a bit for the WW moment.. And it was so great when it happened. It was also easier to feel the heroism since she was protecting soldiers and not a made up alien race..

Or perhaps it was just finally seeing the iconic WW in her first solo film in her first action scene..

IDK.. CM just never got me excited even thought I liked the title character.

I had no idea this was a real war.

It is...

Absolutely insane that a middle of the pack MCU like CM is going to pass 1B.

Meanwhile Green Book just surpassed Alita’s domestic box office lol

Green Book!

Alita cost how much again. :panic:

I agree with this.

While I like both the MCU and the DCEU for different reasons, part of the reason why I personally slightly prefer many DCEU films is because I think they tend to have more goosebump inducing scenes, where the ramifications of what’s at stake should they fail seems tangible and isn’t really taken lightly or ruined with a humorous quip, and you actually see and can feel them morphing into the hero. I find these types of scenes inspiring and when it comes to superheroes, that’s what I personally want to see and feel. And I tend to get that feeling a little more in most DCEU films than I do MCU films.

That great WW scene for instance when she first becomes WW, and also the scene in MoS where Superman is summoning every ounce of power he has in order to fly up the power beam emitting from the World Engine in order to stop it, are big ones for me.
