Oh no, of course. I agree with that. :duff

And that’s more less what I’m echoing, that people should be able to put politics aside. As mentioned, when people purchase products, it should be based on the quality and the cost of that product, and how it enriches their lives. The political views of the company should be irrelevant; just like the political views of the consumer should be irrelevant to the company. However, if the company insists on lecturing a large swath of people/consumers for their political views and castigating those people for having opinions that differ from the opinions that they feel they should be espousing (while often times doing the exact opposite themselves of what they’re trying to lecture everyone else on), I don’t blame those people for not calling for anyone else to boycott, but simply quietly deciding to take a hard pass on that company lecturing them and spending their money and time on something/someone else who doesn’t/won’t care about their political views.

I hear you, and I totally respect that. I'll admit, as a white male myself, hearing someone give the impression that I'm not welcome to form an opinion on their is a pretty big turn off and I understand why someone would boycott or whatever.

I just adhere more to the "rise above it" philosophy personally. :) Someones stupid statements arent going to take any enjoyment out of my life!

Yes, Thank You. People who loved that film just wanted there to be a sequel and were trying to help the BO. Some people latch on to it as an anti CM move. But it was not intended as such, although it's a far better film IMHO.

The people who called for everyone to see Alita instead of Captain Marvel we're very vocal. They are the ones responsible for pitting Alita against Captain Marvel.

Everyone just needs to get busy doing something besides posting outrage on social media.

The oceans need cleaning, we could start there....

Or people could start by doing their own laundry.....

Theres alot to do....besides harp on some Hollywood celebrities and their latest film...

Damn I need to go plunge my toilets.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....

I think there is a difference between actors etc having political views offscreen and people creating content that pushes these views. I don't want to see a movie that looks like the inside of Tom Cruise's crazy head but the bat guano crazy stuff that he says outside of his movies has absolutely zero effect on my ability to enjoy a Mission Impossible movie. John Wayne was a racist but I will still watch the heck out of The Searchers and True Grit. Now if John Ford had made a movie with Wayne with a plot that centered around Wayne's personal views and presented those views in a normalized or even heroic light I would skip that movie. No offense to anyone but I think it's a little crazy to not be able to separate actors from the characters that they play.

I gotcha. That’s admirable. :duff

What that comes down to is people being free and able to spend their money how, where and on what they see fit, free of persecution and not having to justify it to anyone else.

I’m just amazed that after 11 years and 44 hours worth of movies that the ONLY actor to be recasted was for Rhodey!

Do you think they killed Zachary Levi's character in Thor 3 because he was in talks to play Captain Marvel?

I gotcha. That’s admirable. :duff

Yep I am all about that...so why do they spend so much time justifying it to everyone else...

No doubt about it conservatives have to be super skilled at being able to seperate actors personal opinions from the characters they were hired to play off a written script because if not they would be angry and frustrated 24/7/365 with the actors playing their favorite characters.

I mean like 95% of the time I see actors/directors/writers fighting for a cause or railing on an ideology they are hating on conservative ideologies, hell make that 98% lol

Like why is that why do 95% to 98% of actors/directors/writers hate the conservative ideology especially like now in the present?

I mean like holy crap the stuff Hamill says about conservatives is not fit to be posted here.

I’m just happy i’m not a slave to any ideology other than my own which I call the individual but I would be super depressed if Luke Skywalker or Captain America hated my guts lol

I can’t tell if you’re being sardonic or not. It was a genuine question on who you were referring to by “they.” I presumed you meant people in general.

No you were correct my reply was not intended to be sardonic...but I guess in fairness there are many people who just go out and quietly spend their money as they see fit. So I would not be referring to them. I guess I am more specifically referring to people who feel that spending or not spending what amounts to less than a drop in some corporation's bucket is an act of heroic political activism...we could call them the Boycott Crowd.

I think a lot of the problem that people have with actors and actresses who are “fighting for a cause,” is because many of these actors and actresses don’t personally abide by those principles they claim to espouse. So I don’t blame people for quietly taking a hard pass on willingly giving their hard earned money over to someone who lectures them on “principles and morality” while often times doing the exact opposite. That comes across as “do as I say, not as I do,” or “what’s good for me is not for thee.” I don’t really think that’s “anger” from those people, but more just a thanks, but no thanks. I’ll pass. Which they’re free to do because it’s their money. They can spend it how they choose. I personally find that to be more principled because you’re able to sacrifice something trivial for the sake of something you believe in, and personally find that to be more indicative of fighting for a cause because you’re actually doing it instead of just saying it. Actions always speak louder than words.

However, like I said earlier, boycotts are bad no matter what side it comes from. So I disagree with anyone who encourages other people to boycott something simply because you don’t like that product. Let people decide on their own how they want to spend their own money.

Just to keep the record straight. My girl is a woman of color, and she disliked the film more than I did. Glad you enjoyed it.

Well she and I have something in common, but apparently not opinions on the film lol. It's okay if people didn't like it, but the outrage and vitriol I've been reading in here just goes to prove my point.

:lol dont bother man... This Harley_Quinn_ person is either just messing with us, or is serious and completely misguided in thinking its ok to post such things in a toy related message board.

I'm very serious lol.

Yep, I would agree 110%. Boycotts are bad no matter what side it comes from, so I don’t like the idea of someone encouraging others to boycott something simply because you don’t like it. If you don’t like it, then fine, don’t spend your money on it. It shouldn’t matter what others do. Let them decide for themselves how they want to spend their money and time.

That just goes to show that diversity can also come in the form in difference of thought, not exclusively difference in external immutable characteristics.

To quote General Patton: “If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.”
