She made her opinions known to everyone before people went into the theater on the highest platform, that made people aware while watching the movie and that awareness made people notice the agenda in the film clearly since there are many that have spoken about it.

Celebrities have to understand that their notoriety makes everything they say and do news, and what they say can offend portions of the audience (aka customers). So speaking publicly they should try and refrain from potential offense so they can entertain the whole audience without baggage, that's the cost of being a celebrity.

If the "cost" is one of the biggest openings ever and being on track for the movie to earn a billion dollars then more celebrities should start sharing their opinions.

Read Wor-Gar’s post it’s not just the celebrity it’s Disney approving their progressive public statements.

Disney is forging a new path.

What was that opening line again on the first Force Awakens trailer!

“There has been an awakening, have you felt it!”

They weren’t kidding lol

lol we'll be "feeling it" for a very long time I'm thinking

While I agree that I would never look to Hollywood for my moral guidance or informed political advice, I do agree with others that they are free to use the platform how they feel to share their personal views. Why they insist people care about their political views though, or that simply being an actor or actress suddenly confers upon them the knowledge to know what’s best for your life, baffles me.

People always claim to just “want to have a conversation,” but I’ve noticed they always seem to preface it in most offensive way possible. That’s usually a good way to have the exact opposite effect, and drive people away from the campfire before a rational conversation can even start, as opposed to bringing them to it to have a chat.

Sadly, I've found that a rational conversation between folks that feel very strongly about either of two main political sides doesn't seem to exist. At least in my personal experience anyway.

You’d be correct. And like I mentioned, it’s usually because when people claim to “just want to have a convo,” they do it in the most offensive way possible (you’re all racist, you’re idiots, you’re rubes, you’re a snowflake, you’re everything with a suffix of ist or phobe, etc). Of course that’s going to piss off the person/people you claim to just want to have a convo with, and prevent the dialogue from even beginning in the first place.

Claiming to just want to have civil, rational discourse, but not before you thoroughly insult that person or people first, comes across as disengenuous.

Or, if it does start, they can’t agree on objective facts. Which then devolves into insults.

Totally. Also, it seems that one side is always trying to convince the other side why their side is right versus objectionable conversation.

I was referring specifically about celebrities (actors, directors, athletes, etc.)
Disney has just offered spousal benefits to same sex couples much to the ire of a few, but that is Disney trying to directly benefit individual employees, not pushing an agenda on the public/audience.
In this highly political climate, it would be smart for employees of Disney to just do their job and entertain their audience and not divide them with any agenda, but as we know companies are made of people that dictate how they do business. If all this is current Disney's intent to forge a new path, then it appears that the current employees at Disney think it's upon them to socially engineer the public to their way of thinking, that in my opinion is immoral, the people advocating it are immoral. Portions of the audience has picked up on it and has started to resent Disney.

I didn't like what Larson said, but that's not why I'm not seeing this movie, Larson playing the main character was wooden and the trailers did nothing for me, but I know the character and the politics of why Disney/Marvel has pushed her on the audience recently in the books.
That does lead to what's irritating me personally about this whole fiasco; This is what Marvel has been doing in their comics, destroying all the good that was our beloved Marvel Superheroes to ram social politics down the audience's throat. They've arrogantly changed Marvel Comics which although they have the legal right to do, it's not a moral one because the characters have become something greater than just intellectual properties that you can use to push your agendas, they've become a part of Americana. They don't truly belong to any corporation, they belong to the American public as a whole and specifically to Marvel comic book fans which helped make them successful. Disney/Marvel's actions have irritated Marvel fans to anger and to drop their books entirely. Disney/Marvel did this for a new audience that isn't there.
I have a bad feeling that this is a sign of what's to come in Phase 4 of the MCU, is this what Marvel is replacing our beloved characters with?
I hope Captain Marvel is just a minor bump, and Feige is smarter than that.

Cost to celebrities like Brie Larson, what I said has nothing to do with how successful the movie will be.

Yep...this is the problem...some fans actually think that the Marvel characters belong to them because they...like them??? They don't. The characters belong to Marvel not to any fans. The only people that Marvel owes anything to are their share holders. The only thing they need to do is create content good enough to get people to part with their cash. If Marvel figures out that they can make more money by having Captain America's new costume be high heels and an evening gown...they should do that because they are a business and the only immoral thing would be them not working to deliver a good return for their share holders. The characters do not belong to the "American public as a whole" or to "Marvel fans in particular" they belong to the Marvel corporation. You don't like what they are doing...buy enough shares to force the current leadership out...stop reading their comics...or create your own comics line where Bolverine and the Incredible Bulk have no social agenda but cracking skulls...

Well said, couldnt agree more.

man, I really really hope that's not what phase 4 of the MCU will be about.

We need to adapt the Native peoples way of arguing.

Its custom to first find some common point to compliment your opposite on before getting into what you disagree about.

Failing that, your suppose to compliment them on something else if you cannot find some good points in their side of the discussion.

:exactly:

First establish the 30,000 view premise of what you’re arguing (people often conflate multiple separate arguments). And as you mentioned, establish points of agreement and attempt to understand their side. Agree on what’s objective and what’s subjective. Then get into what points you disagree on.

What an idiot.
