“Movie Theater Economics.” That’s a new economic system on me. :lol

Really? Huh? A quick Google search of "movie theater economics" or "the economics of movie theaters" will give you a ton of useful information to get you up to speed. Happy to help you out and broaden your horizons my friend. :)

I Googled it, and I’m not seeing anywhere where it’s an official economic model, such as Keynesian Economics for instance, started by John Keynes. Can you point me in the right direction as to who the founder was of the Movie Theater Economics model, and how it differs from “regular” economics? And please don’t say, well, it’s only used by movie theaters. :duff

Only if you can point me in the right direction of who founded the phrase..."I googled it and I'm not seeing anywhere..." Who ever said "movie theater economics" was an official economic model...? Try not to hurt your head...you're on an action figure chat site not an online course from the London School of Economics.

Then why were you attempting to edify people on economics?

I'll leave the edification to you Mr. Keynes I was just letting some guy know that it was unlikely that Disney Executives were holding guns to movie theater owners' heads and forcing them to keep Black Panther in theaters against their wishes as part of some vast conspiracy to...make money?

Well, you said it’s an action figure chat site and not a course for economics. You were the one though attempting to teach people the difference between the “movie theater economics” model and “regular economics.”

Oh boy...this is going nowhere fast...I would just let this one go :)

I saw this a few days ago. Ben Mendelsohn's Skrull was awesome. And the movie as a whole was good. But it wasn't up to the standards I expect from most Marvel Studios films. Larson's character didn't resonate with me too much for some reason. She could have been more likable and heroic. Sure, she ultimately stood up for the group that needed to be stood up for in the movie (avoiding spoilers), but the was it was conveyed to the audience was so black and white that there was really no question as to what was right and what was wrong. . .reality would be more in the gray zone, as it is conveyed in Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Of course, you have to make these narrative shortcuts in a 2 hour movie, but. . .
The Supreme Intelligence and her military force came off as total *******s. I wasn't sure if they were trying to make a veiled political point or not. Supreme Intelligence was quite Netenyahu-like.
. She never really seemed to sacrifice much, or to be really challenged.

Very cool realizing that her pilot friend's daughter is the black Captain Marvel from the comics. I was confused about it at first, as they were calling her friend "Maria Rambaeu," while I knew comic Cap. Marvel/Photon was Monica, and then I saw her necklace and started putting two and two together. The timeline matches up so that she would be an adult as of 2019, and potentially one of the next members of the Avengers :yess:

I thought theater owners make more off concessions than anything. So yeah, around here at least, if peeps are coming in the door, they're selling something.

Basically a theater outing racks up the charges pretty fast, plus parking depending...then for me *spoiled* gotta love premium reserve seating IMAX etc.

The trade-off is not going out for movies that often. WOM after a release can get me out the door, sometimes. Or friend/family. Re BP I'd read comments - which is kinda sad and IMO not true - that some felt if they didn't go to BP a lot and keep the numbers up, there wouldn't be anything else like that. IMO the good thing about T'challa and excellent casting choice and introduction is instant popularity. For me same thing about M'baku so really hoping he shows up more, and often.

Just the fact that CM a middle of the pack MCU entry is still heavily being discussed is proof that Disney’s gamble with having Brie all of a sudden care about press junket and movie critics diversity paid off big time for the house of rat.

Press Junket Diversity turned a middle of the road MCU entry into a 1B dollar movie....PRESS JUNKET DIVERSITY!!! :rotfl

Disney couldn’t have picked a sillier job sector lol

It doesn’t matter the race gender or color those questions will always be controlled!

Yet people went all Ledger Joker on it and lost their minds which is exactly what new Disney wanted, we all played right into their hands including me lol

Re: Captain Marvel - July 6, 2018

Okay I saw CM with the kiddos last night and figure I'll briefly chime in on my thoughts.

In short I was very underwhelmed. The trailers made it seem like it was going to be the next Green Lantern but the film itself felt more like an average episode of the current Supergirl TV show. Nothing really wowed me. I'm not kidding it really felt like a TV level production. Blond chick in a red and blue costume has altercations with aliens in the desert, occasionally battles them inside a futuristic looking government complex, has a gruff black male coworker and white female mentor. Average effects. Yep that's basically Supergirl, lol.

The part that I enjoyed the most was her initial fish out of water moments after landing on earth. Her tracking the Skrull on the train was really quite amusing. Brie did a good job in "messed up hair, angry terminator mode" but as the heroine later on that I was supposed to root for and be inspired by I thought she fell flat. Cap's "I can do this all day" was played to much better effect in his films than Carol Danvers' montage of standing up after repeatedly falling. It just felt like amateur hour to me almost from beginning to end.

The cat steals the show? Lol, who were the weirdos making that claim? The way early reviewers were carrying on I literally thought that the trailers were hiding the fact that he was going to be this amazing new talking character and be the next Rocket Raccoon. But people were gushing over an actual cat that simply rubs up against people's legs and purs? What the eff? Lol. Okay I know there's more to the cat toward the end but nothing to write home about IMO.

About midway through I was getting "AOU farmhouse" flashbacks when they were at Rambeau's place which isn't a compliment. The action at the end was barely two minutes longer than what we saw in the trailers. Thankfully none of it was particularly offensive or obnoxiously SJW agenda driven, at least in my mind, so the shill media and Brie's comments luckily didn't hamper my enjoyment of the film. She herself held her own well enough, I just don't think that the writing and directing was up to par. I've got to imagine that the Russos will give her a better place to shine.

I freaking *loved* the Stan Lee cameo. They couldn't have planned a better one for after his death. That alone made me like Brie's character.

As for the other cameo during the first end credits scene, HOLY CRAP did NOT see that coming! I literally was expecting Wolverine not

freaking bearded Cap and the rest of the IW survivors, lol.
A pretty damn indispensable scene if you ask me!

I'd probably rank CM as a film toward the bottom of the MCU and possibly even THE bottom since I just don't see myself ever wanting to sit through it again. However, it does continue the streak of not one single "bad" film in the entire series. I just found it "okay to slightly amusing" throughout, nothing more. Basically filler before Endgame like that one Daredevil episode where Karen goes upstate to hang out with her dad and brother, lol.

So better than BP. :yess:

Uhhhh, well it was definitely a better Supergirl clone than BP, I'll give it that, lol.

The cat got the same level of hype as all of BP! :lol

That hype was beyond bizarre, lol. Those early reviewers must have absolutely crapped themselves over the turtle in Rocky, lol.

cameo is my 2nd favorite I loved Brie’s reaction to him it warmed up my cynical heart.

Brie reacting to SL was instantly one of my favorite moments in the entire MCU. What's your first favorite cameo?

Does anyone realize how Disney produced films are flooding the box office this year

CM
AEG
Dumbo
EP IX
Aladdin

And I think a few more

Jeez talk about a takeover of the industry in 2019 :horror

Has there ever been year where Disney involved films dominated the theaters the entire year
