Does anyone realize how Disney produced films are flooding the box office this year

CM
AEG
Dumbo
EP IX
Aladdin

And I think a few more

Jeez talk about a takeover of the industry in 2019 :horror

Has there ever been year where Disney involved films dominated the theaters the entire year

They gotta pay for Fox somehow.

Don't forget Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2.

Yup I said there was more

Isn’t Lion King this year as well

It’s kind of ridiculous how Disney has taken over the film industry and not all of it are their own projects :horror

I couldn't agree with Roy more about the Skrulls, they're supposed to be simple villains:
https://www.bleedingcool.com/2019/0...-roy-thomas-watches-the-captain-marvel-movie/

Roy Thomas said:
Actually, the one thing I really hated in the film was turning the Skrulls into a peace-loving race, with the Kree as the heavies. As far as I’m concerned as the principal conceptualizer of the Kree/Skrull War (and I suspect Stan Lee and Jack Kirby would’ve agreed with me), the Skrulls and the Kree are each as bad as each other, as they say. Having the Skrulls all mushy and family-friendly at the end left a bad taste in my mouth… but I loved ’em for most of the movie, when they were doing shape-shifting stuff that looked (and as far as I’m concerned, were) downright evil.

Uhhhh, well it was definitely a better Supergirl clone than BP, I'll give it that, lol.

That hype was beyond bizarre, lol. Those early reviewers must have absolutely crapped themselves over the turtle in Rocky, lol.

Brie reacting to SL was instantly one of my favorite moments in the entire MCU. What's your first favorite cameo?

lol at Rocky turtle, how I have missed thee lol

My fav SL cameo remains him with The Watchers in GOTG2.

Actually for sentimental only reasons then yes CM cameo is # 1 for me it can’t be touched very heartfelt but for overall MCU narrative reasons then him with The Watchers which works perfectly with CM since he’s a person named Stan Lee in that.

Um um um I won’t argue that the movie could’ve been more cinematic but I enjoyed it more than you did.

That’s right :goodpost:

Kind of makes it seem like Shazam and Godzilla are on an island on their own by this spring and summer alone

The rest of this spring/ summer belongs to Disney

Sad about this 'coz:

1) Bummed about the rating system was hoping BW and maybe a BP would cross into R rating for realism. I don't need rivers of blood and naked frontal. Just a bit more realism re fight scenes and like that.

2) I have no Disney stock.

And now for something completely different from the international community and Google:rotfl:

Didn't the GotG2 SL attempt to reconcile every other cameo by having Stan tell the watchers about all the different jobs he had ("and then I was a FedEx driver,") implying that it really was the same guy in every Marvel movie but just with a different job, lol. Even in IW he told the kids on the bus "what you've never seen a spaceship before" like maybe that was GotG2 Stan back on earth with yet another new vocation.

Um um um I won’t argue that the movie could’ve been more cinematic but I enjoyed it more than you did.

Maybe I'll warm to it more on a second viewing like I did with BP. I didn't even like GotG2 on my first viewing but have come to really enjoy it after revisiting it at home.

Fine with me....what other major studio is doing anything else worth while???

The only other productions that seem interesting to me are all Indie films.

Kind of funny that SJW Disney still had the illegal alien invasion of Skrull families at the Southern border rounded up and carted off to another solar system by the main heroine herself though, lol.

Dude, now that IS funny!

I did think it was kind of funny that CM gave us a literal representation of Kelly McGillis' line from Top Gun about Maverick only being happy when he was going Mach 2 with his hair on fire, lol.

Movies usually play for a long time after their debut when they are making a TON of money...that's how movie theater economics work. The black history month showings were free so those showings did not add to the movie's box office...that's how regular economics work.

Black Panther debuted on February 16, 2018; closed on August 9, 2018 for a total of 175 days in theaters. Infinity War debuted on April 27, 2018 and closed on September 13, 2018 for a total of140 days in theaters. So yeah, Black Panther was out for longer. And is it so inconceivable that Disney -being a champion of diversity - held Black Panther out for longer to boost its total gross sales in hopes of hitting the $1B mark?

Godzilla will probably get lost in all this and Shazam will have to be like a Deadpool phenomenon where people go to see it out of curiosity and then the movie itself is great and becomes a cult classic . Judging DC, I don’t see this happening

In hindsight I think WW being delayed a whole year really rocked the boat in Marvel’s favor :lecture

Shazam looks like its going to be really good as well, like deadpool type funny and I really hope it is. First time is saw deadpool I literally had a perm-a-smile on my face the whole time (and I only had like 2 beers). It was such a funny refreshing take on the superhero genre, unlike anything that came before it. It really encapsulated the hero. Shazam looks really funny too, which may or may not be a deviation from his comics (I never read much captain marvel growing up), but when the trailers get me to laugh I know its going to be good. Its also cool as **** when he says Shazam in the trailer, I am digging what I'm seeing so far. "you do exactly the opposite of what a superhero is supposed to do"" sounds deadpoolish enough for me.

I liked Deadpool but for some reason I still haven't felt the urge to watch it a second time. Haven't seen the second one at all.

I loved Deadpool the first time (same with Ant Man) and sang it's praises. Tried to watch it a second time and couldn't make it all the way through (same with Ant Man). No desire to see Deadpool 2 and had no desire to see Ant Man and Wasp but ended up seeing it and could barely make it through the whole movie and was cringing and doing other stuff while it ran. Odd how these movies can fail to hold up to repeat viewings.

If you talking movies you liked on first viewing then, ya I don't have that problem with the original deadpool (repeat viewing is there), granted I've only watched Deadpool 2 once (it wasn't as funny as the first imo, maybe the novelty had worn off), and haven't had a desire to watch it again but that doesn't mean I wont enjoy it again on 2nd viewing (I didn't see it in theatre watched it recently on 4k for the first time). Some movies are like that, Black Panther is another one that comes to mind. I really enjoyed it the first time but wasn't nearly as entertained the 2nd time, its very light on action for sure. I don't really have any desire to watch it again unless im having trouble falling asleep. The original avengers is also like that now, I can't really watch it anymore all the way through, or atleast I have no desire too. Id rather watch antman or its sequel lol. I think since antman (and antman & wasp) are comedies, the replay value is there because im not really as invested in the story I just watch it for laughs sort of like GG2. GG2 has no replay value other than the comedy, i can have it on in the background and do other **** and catch the funny moments. Some might not count that as replay value cause im not vested in the story, but I'd still rather have those movies playing on the tube the some of the other better reviewed, serious ones that i find stale now. Thor Ragnarok is another one that comes to mind, its on my tv a lot. Its not intense like Infinity war, its just good mindless fun to have on the tube when you want to wind down and just chillax

Yep...they were championing diversity for people of color...the color green...their names were Franklin, Grant, and Jackson, and their green faces can all be found on our U.S. Currency.

Actually, they kept BP in theatres so it would pass $700M domestically. It had passed $1B globally long before that.

They could do that with any movie though. They purposely held out BP so that movie in particular could reach those accolades.

Exactly. It hit $700 million domestically on August 5, 2018 - only 1 of 3 movies to every accomplish that feat. It's no coincidence that it was yanked out of theaters four days later.
