The CM / Indy moment would have been cool if I didn’t see it coming a mile away. Thought it was Telegraphed by Yon Rogg over stressing for her to not use her powers.

Hmmm fair observation on how it was telegraphed but I wasn’t certain which direction it was going but my belly was full of buffalo wings and my blood brain barrier had been invaded by booze lol

Yep and despite what the feminist filmmakers were going for "we don't do what an evil MAN tells us to do" they actually shoot themselves in the foot by having Carol deliberately do the exact opposite of what Yon-Rogg says thereby proving that he was still in her head and manipulating her. And her telling him that she had nothing to prove literally defeats the purpose of that statement. If she really had nothing to prove then she should have paid more attention to Indy who shrugged his shoulders, blew the swordsman away without a word and then was already off looking for Marion before the dude's corpse hit the ground. That was some cold humiliating **** right there, lol.

But instead of doing that Carol had to blast him out of spite just to prove that she had nothing to prove, lol.

Again I don't hate her for it. I'm actually glad that she's a second tier Cap prodigy who still has a lot to learn about being a hero. :D

I don't think she knew she would lose in a fist fight...I think she knew that losing would be allowing her opponent to goad her into a fight on his terms. Why should she let her enemy decide what "winning" looks like. She would be an *****. The point was that she has nothing to prove to him because she could care less about the bad Guy's opinion of her. That is true toughness.

I'm going by what was shown though. In the film, she has never won a straight-up hand-to-hand fight against Yon-Rogg, so she fought on her own terms instead (which came out good IMO).

At that point in the film I don't think the message had anything to do with Yon-Rogg being male - it was more that she was done taking orders from the Supreme Intelligence, him or any other Kree. And it DEFINITELY proved that he could no longer manipulate her. Granted it will never be as iconic as Indy's scene, but sending him home in disgrace with the message she was coming to end them still worked for me.

What did he expect her to do anyway, let him beat her up and win?

Well that's a question to ask many warriors in action films spanning quite a few decades. Throwing down weapons and duking it out mano a mano is a pretty endearing and established trope both before and after Indy subverted expectations with his classic gun move. Is it typically the wisest move for one or both parties? Often not but it's still hella fun to watch. :)

Fair enough! :duff

Not bad not bad

The best thing about Captain America is that he would not be impressed with the bickering and just be happy that Captain Marvel is here.

I think the key difference here is her weapon is in-built. She could change the terms of the fight at any time she wanted and if she knew she was about to be beaten unconscious or dead, granting victory to the bad guy and the serious consequences that might have to the people she's helping, she's gonna do it.

I assume Yon Rogg knew this and just wanted to take the scrap as far as it would go. My question was rhetorical I guess. :lol

CM now at 910 finally confirming a definite 1B at this point, wow just wow!

But that US opening at 71 million! :google

People like stupid humor.....this movie was already made before....in a TV show called Greatest American Hero.

Why are people not questioning the reviews to this film?

Well to be fair to Shazam/Levy/WB, Levy didn’t come out saying really dumb stuff about Aliens and Indy and silly Press Junket Diversity preaching especially when Press Junket questions are all prescreened regardless if read by a white, black, brown, male or female the questions are all “safe” questions.

Regarding critics diversity Brie does know that BP received rave reviews from what she confirmed are mostly white reviewers.

Sorry that “A Wrinkle Time” sucked get over it, is she saying that blacks and browns aren’t capable of proper film critiquing since she’s assuming all blacks and browns would’ve just automatically given that movie a pass?

She chose a really silly soapbox to stand on and this is coming from a non ideology conformist.

If you’re going to get on a soap box to poke a hornets nest try using some intelligence.

Damn, one billion. That's more than the Cap America movies. Female Cap is now THE new Captain and the one and only female hero in film history. In fact, she's now also way better than Indiana Jones. I hope Thanos can stop her tho, before it's too late for us males.

Pretty sure people were calling those positive reviews “bunk” before any of the over inflated controversy started.

These days people seem to automatically call any Disney early reviews fake.

For my part, sheer lack of interest meaning I don't know what the reviews for that are one way or another. Turns out the only DC characters I like are Batman and Superman. Wonder Woman has a shot though, I just need to see more of her.
