It could. It would be great for DC and horrible for the Marvel fanboys that bash every DC movie on social media before it even comes out. How can you bash a movie you have never seen? If Shazam is a huge hit coming after Aquaman being a huge hit the Marvel fanboys will be forced to stop the ##$ talking under every DC trailer. I predict a lot of hurt Marvel fanboys hurt feelings.

True, but obviously nothing is probably going to top AEG overall. I think that will set a new record because everybody under the sun will go see it and probably multiple times so I don’t think Marvel will be sweating too much :) But I see Spider-man FFH coming close

It looks like it will be fun, but relatively speaking I think it'll have more competition in theatres on opening weekend than CM did. Us will still be around, plus I hear Pet Sematary is getting strong reviews. That might keep it from reaching CM level numbers, plus it can't bank on the MCU tie-in factor.

Just curious: Has Shazam been an on-going comic? I know it goes way back, but I'm asking if it has been published on a continuous basis, or has it been recently resurrected to coincide with the movie release? Maybe it's just my ignorance of the character, but I have the impression that he's kind of an outlier as a DC property. Has he ever been in the Justice League? I've never associated him with Superman, Batman, WW, etc..

It has been an on/off consistent series in DC of late . Not a core series but a character that shows up in other books from time time. But I know , they will probably start a new fresh ongoing title if the film keeps progressing in sales

Wow...seventh highest world wide gross already...within 3 weeks in the entire MCU...the ticket buying public clearly heard what Brie Larson had to say and were anxious to part with their cash to hear more from her. I imagine that the Russos are back in the editing room and expanding her role in Endgame to ensure that the fans get more of what they obviously want. Too bad for anyone who was kidding themselves into thinking that Larson and the MCU would be punished by the "fans" for her frankly fairly innocuous comments.

Eh, CM's box office could also be massively inflated by the fact that audiences are assuming it's required viewing before Endgame. We won't know until her next solo flick that won't have the benefit of being sandwiched between the biggest two cbm's in cinema history.

Antman and the Wasp didn't benefit tho.

Antman and the Wasp didn't benefit tho.

That came months AFTER IW so everyone already knew what happened in IW and the movie didn't add anything. CM is just short of 2 months BEFORE and her intro film COULD have been a lead in (but wasn't) that was required viewing thus a possible bump in attendance for those that needed to know everything about Endgame. This is all supposition as I'm just trying to explain the comment from above about a possible Endgame boost.

Could be...but bottom line is Brie Larson got to get some stuff off her chest and her movie did just fine. The same people who were predicting that she had just single handedly killed her movie's chance of succeeding, the entire MCU, and her own career knew that Endgame was coming out a month later when they made those predictions. There are a million reasons that CM is doing well that have nothing to do with Brie Larson and those were all baked in well before the movie was released. After Larson's interviews the angry nerds came up with one reason that the movie would in fact fail...turns out they were wrong as usual...that's all I'm saying.

First let me say.. Yes.. the Internet nerds were nuts to think this film was not going to do well... Though one could argue that the "politics" got people talking because there was not much buzz... Not positive buzz anyways.. But the film was going to be a hit no matter what.

I think its almost impossible for a Marvel Movie to not be huge anymore. Especially with todays ticket prices and increased theater numbers. .

Remember when the top 10 highest grossing film of all time use to have quality movies on the list. Everything breaks into the top 10 anymore.. Incredibles 2? Really??

Of course that's just my opinion

Very true JAWS but as a very imaginative young buck back in the early 80’s while enjoying Indy and Road Warrior I daydreamed a whole bunch about a future filled with realistic superheroes.

Hey I love me some superhero films.. And ultimately I am cool with the top 10 having some MCU (Avengers and IW) and Batman representation.

But the rest of that list.. :yuck

Well proof yet again that those angry white males are a small but vocal minority. They have been well humbled. Maybe we will hear less from those types going forward.

Me too..I remember when a movie clalled Avengers came out in the 90s and had nothing to do with super heroes I thought it would be a dream come true if it was a actual Avengers movie. I thought it was an impossible dream at the time.

Its just proof that no matter where the wacky stuff is said, by the uber nerd snowflake fans, or uber self centered racist actresses.....

It just will not change box office numbers for the VAST majority of movie going public. They just ate not in tune to all this drama.

What makes the box office is interest in a film.....period.

Sent from the inside of a giant slug in outer space.....
