Zack Snyder: "I’m like, ****, really? Wake the **** up. I guess that’s what I’m saying. Once you've lost your virginity to this ****ing movie and then you come and say to me something about like ‘my superhero wouldn’t do that.' I’m like ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the ****ing road on that. It’s a cool point of view to be like ‘my heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn't ****ing lie to America. My heroes didn't embezzle money from their corporations. My heroes didn't commit any atrocities.' That’s cool. But you're the one living in a ****ing dream world!"

Zack Snyder’s POV made him perfect for the Watchmen that’s for sure.
As talented as he is he’s a distant third to the Russo’s who have a 100% batting avg. (IMO) in style, tone and understanding of the material that they create in the comics genre.

Some good points here by a reviewer I like:°

Both Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead are near perfect for me....

I cannot watch any of the DC crap he did...

I like this guy...although to be fair, one could take the view - which may explain the BO - "why so serious"? E.g. typical Disney princesses ARE linear (tho didn't give it much thought before). At least some of them.

Like Cinderella - she just IS - kept down by wickedness. Snow White, etc. Maybe the whole thing is some sort of inherent need for humans to have the concept of perfect beauty just kinda held down, but of course perfection always wins. It doesn't even matter at this point what Brie might have said - the fairy tale is in place.

Tho I'm just bummed at apparently not getting a Bucky Cap (talk about needing to come to terms;) or a Falcon Cap; or SW coming into her own, some side thing with Loki nodding back to the Ragnarok line "you'll always be the God of Mischief. But you could be more". Which wouldn't interest kids I guess but I'd have liked to have seen it. Tho who knows what will happen in EG.:dunno

But maybe there'll be a Goose movie.:monkey3

Man this movie is still going strong with only a 40% drop this weekend. Seventh and soon to be sixth highest grossing film of all 21 MCU films and days away from being one of only seven MCU films to gross over a billion dollars. We know that every MCU films is a guaranteed hit but this is even a big hit within the MCU. The reasons...Endgame enthusiasm...etc...for its success don't really matter the money is the money. The folks saying wait for the second or third weekend crash have all been proven wrong...it's quite satisfying to now have tangible proof that angry nerd rage is as powerless in harming a movie's success as it deserves to be! I have to applaud this movie's success if for no other reason than that.

Fury didn't call Ant-Man. ;)

Just catching up here (was on vacation last week. :lol)... Ironically, I think Ant-Man and the Wasp are more direct tie-ins to Endgame if whatever they found in the quantum realm is going to be instrumental in defeating Thanos. CM just introduces a new character and isn't mandatory viewing for Endgame IMO.

Dawn of the Dead tbe regular version was pure perfection. The director's extended version showed Snyder is an *****.

990 million$$$. Some people are unhappily eating crow with the incredible success of this movie.

Yes...many of them were frequent posters in this thread who interestingly became less and less frequent as the movie continued to make more and more money. Probably hard to comment when you have a mouth full of crow.

Ok , what about the DC cut bothered you.

I just realized that. This thread suddenly got quieter once the second weekend past and it dawned on those people the movie was definitely going to be a huge hit. They were holding out hope that the movie would totally collapse on the second weekend.

Yep if the movie had seen a 70% drop in the second weekend and just plummeted from there this thread would be on fire. I can only imagine the colorful insults that would be flying around about Brie Larson's physical appearance and the injuries that she had done to the MCU and the cinematic arts in general...oh well...they can save it all up for when Captain Marvel 2 is announced. Yep...Captain Marvel 2...that's when they'll get their payback and Brie will learn her lesson.

Well its been years since I have seen it. From what I remember Sarah Polley lost her husband when he turned into a zombie and attacked her. She runs from the house and met up with some people and decided to hold up in a mall. A few hours past and she and one the the other survivors (who she only knew for a few hours and remember she just lost her husband) are kissing and ripping each other's clothes off and having sex. That made zero sense and is perfect example of stupid Hollywood at work. They have this overwhelming need to cram kissing in every movie and don't care if it makes sense or not. Thankfully someone smarter than Snyder cut that nonsensical garbage from the original cut.

TBH, there isn't anything much left to talk about the film now. As a film, it was middle of the road for an MCU flick. That makes it generally good, but not much to talk about. It's not polarizing like BvS or TLJ where people either liked it or hated it so the discussion isn't as "lively".

All eyes are on Endgame now. :) I've just been avoiding that thread for potential spoilers.

There are still those who think the success of this film is based solely on Endgame and its position as the last MCU film to come before the “real
Important film”

Delusional does not begin to describe that.

But these days , its make up any lie you want and scream it loud enough and its true.

Finally watched it today. As far as Larsons herself goes, I could really care less. I still watch Seagal and Van Damme movies to this day regardless of the fact they are both utter nutters. I honestly didn't find the 'politics and agendas' that forced. To me Black Panther was much worse. And speaking of which, as far as charisma goes, same applies. It was solid middle of the road for me, admittedly carried a lot by SLJ. Usually if the lead isn't fantastic, then having a good co-lead goes a long way.

It was still a mile better than a lot of non MCU comic book movies. I won't say the twists were completely spoiled for me, but they weren't a total surprise considering the half spoilers I've read. I do find balancing the events and dialogue with Fury and the first Avengers movie a little bit of a bug, but nothing as bad as the clusterf that is the back story telling of the Star Wars universe.

Honestly what’s there to talk about. It’s was pretty forgettable and didn’t really do anything new

:exactly: Yes, it made money. but it's still a mediocre film at best. No one is hiding, we've just moved on. The game is over, the teams have left the field.
