Kind of bittersweet that we have the red carpet premiere event for the movie going on now in Hollywood on the day Luke Perry passed away in L.A. ..things just happen unfortunately :thud:

This thread is reminding me of the earth shattering POWER of the one man movie boycott! All of the movies, movie studios, actors, directors and franchises that were brought to heel and crushed by the dreaded and fearsome one man movie boycott...oh that's right...one guy being upset about a movie and choosing to "boycott" it has never made an impact, caused anyone to care, or harmed a movie that would have otherwise made money well...ever...Someone doesn't want to see a movie then they shouldn't see it...but don't delude yourself into thinking its a "boycott." Next trick should be "boycotting" becoming a billionaire...that'll show 'em!

Anybody think this is going overboard by Disney for having this film release just a month before Avengers EG

I didn’t mention a boycott. I just stated my reasons for not wanting to see this movie. Other people are free to do as they please. :wink1:

Desperately trying to understand? Desperately? Don't hurt yourself over there.

How 'bout yourself? Why are you so riled up about some criticism over Brie's comments? Move on.
Nice way to respond with an insult.....

As said before, you should re read the initial post.

Why are people so upset about what has been status Quo for years?

People did not get so freaked out before

Was that clear enough?

I don't think I noticed or referenced a specific post from you per se...the thread in general is filled with a lot of amusing boycott nonsense.

My son's been unwell since last night. Hopefully he gets better today and tomorrow or else one of these tickets are going to waste:

Like the good father I am, I had him skip school this morning to get some rest. :rotfl

I kept both my kids home from school to watch TFA on opening day, lol. That said I hope your son has a speedy recovery.

Thanks Khev! Yeah we've been passing around this nasty cough/cold the past few weeks now. He's either bringing home new bugs from school, or my wife is from work (she's a doctor). He's been worried that he'll miss the show because he wasn't feeling well. I think we'll all make it to tomorrow's screening though!

Nah, just genius business. Like if there were a 6 month gap peeps might blow off CM. Sort of builds EG hype and at the same time buffers CM from bad box office. My bro said we HAD to see BP before IW. Told him we didn't, but that's why I saw BP in theaters.

Some of the CM audience feels the same - they have to know the CM story before EG. Also there'll be Spiderman and then sounds like a long wait for the next film.

Everyone keeps mentioning the critic comments..

I found this comment much more annoying then her comment about white reviewers..

She cant even handle a complement and does not understand mother nature :lol She's an idiot but it wont keep me from seeing the movie..

Larson's preparation for the stunt-heavy role included an intensive, four-hour daily gym routine with trainer Jason Walsh that eventually saw the 5-foot-7 actress dead-lifting 225 pounds, hip-thrusting 400 pounds and pushing Walsh's Jeep up a hill. There were days when the intensity of the training reduced her to tears and days when she got irritated by men at Walsh's West Hollywood gym who doubted her strength. "This guy watched me lift something really heavy, and he went, 'Wow, I can't even lift that!' As if he were the epitome of health," Larson says. "I said, 'Yeah, I guess you're going to have to rethink your gender norms.'

She had this comment also. Sounds like Steroids :lol :lol

Larson says the weight-training was as transformative emotionally as it was physically, partly because it happened to coincide with the early days of the Time's Up movement, in which she was deeply involved, occasionally hosting meetings at her home. "It's the time that I was starting to be able to lift a lot more and I was learning how to punch and kick and do judo throws," she says. "It was also the time that I was learning how to sit at a conference table and slam my hands on the table and say, 'You need to listen to what I'm saying.' And learning to not feel guilty about taking up space like that."

They seemed to be playing the "you're a sexist if you don't like her" card even before this review mess began.

Back when there was a huge uproar over comments that she didn't smile enough in the trailer. I get that telling girls to smile more is an established trope, however feeling that the main character is not charismatic or likeable enough is a completely valid criticism for a movie that shouldn't have just been written off as sexism.

Seems like Marvel is desperate for this movie to be a huge hit. My guess is that it is because CM is a huge part of the plot of Endgame and the defeat of Thanos. If this movie gets a bad reception, it automatically cuts the legs out from Endgame. Probably a good lesson on why its a bad idea to have the grand finale of a 10 year, 20 movie franchise hang on the lynchpin of a controversial character with a comics history that is mixed at best and has no established on screen history.

A writer or producer said in a Civil War featurette said Kevin Feige wasn't afraid of the big swings. At the same time they protect CM by having it lead into EG. EG is practically judgement proof. The worst that could happen is some toys don't sell. If CM doesn't take, Spiderman will be there to pick things up. Then any future CM appearances are quietly reduced.

There'll be people like me who've had enough of IMO hard sales when they want a satisfying story, and have no interest in CM, but this CM I think will at least do OK. And Marvel scored big points for its "groundbreaking diversity efforts." E.g. the Disney machine is scary.:horror

Edit - eman/YT can't say much but sayin' good, not amazing. DS or Antman level. Not much politics. E.g. nothing to worry about. Embargoes lift tomorrow.

Not sure I follow your premise with regard to status quo and previous "outrage" but I, for one, won't waste time over-analyzing this topic. I have faith that in your desperation to understand why - alongside with your peaked interest in human psychology - that you will find the answers you seek.

What an insufferable woman. She's the type of woman that would take offense to a man holding the door for her and would scream "What? Are you inferring that I'm incapable of taking care of myself and need a man to be my savior!?"

As if men weren't on the whole biologically predisposed to carry muscle more than women. Yea, science is just the patriarchy.

"It was also the time that I was learning how to sit at a conference table and slam my hands on the table and say, 'You need to listen to what I'm saying.' And learning to not feel guilty about taking up space like that."
Yea, this would be perfectly acceptable behavior if it came from a man. And totally not look like a grown up throwing a temper tantrum.

I'm not "boycotting" this movie, cause there was a zero chance of me ever seeing it anyway. Looks like dullsville, man. This thread is fun though.

I don't think I care enough about the Marvel movies to boycott them or even go out of my way to see them. They're just there.

SW on the other hand.....I knew about halfway in to Episode 7 it was the last SW movie I was ever paying for.
