Yeah, Simon's Quest was awesome. Especially the music. I remember it was my first NES game along with Ninja Gaiden when I got the NES for Christmas. It was years before I realized that Simon's Quest was the odd duck of the series, but I loved it. It was baffling back in the day before the Internet. The most cryptic puzzles ever.

Yeah Simon's Quest was my first Castlevania game too. I still like to play the ROM every once in a while. I think the first Castlevania game that I was addicted to was Symphony of the Night. I was so obsessed with it that I played through it several times, and even tracked down and overpaid for the Japanese Saturn version.

I mean I'm not saying SOTN isn't one of the best games in the series, but it's the one that most people jumped on board with, much like FF7 was to the Final Fantasy series. It's the one that came much later in the series, but was the most "popular", I guess, so it shaped a lot of new players' opinions about what the series was, when it was actually a tremendous departure for the series.

Of course, that leads to many of those people freaking out when a new CV game is released that isn't a Metroidvania, much like they did with LoS came out and it harkened back to the initial offerings in so many ways. But everyone said, "THAT'S NOT CASTLEVANIA!" when in reality it was more Castlevania than anything since '96.

Also, regarding "Alucard" in that trailer. Spoilers from the first game

If Gabriel, being a vampire, has no reflection as established in the trailer when he walks by a mirror, then Alucard, also being a vampire, would have no reflection in the sword.

So there's a hole in that theory.

SWeeet LOVED the 1st one's GRAPHICS were awesome .....1st game is great and cant wait there's been a drought in video games lately...This and the new ALIENS game is gonna ROCK!!!

Remember though Alucard is only half vampire anf half human. So maybe those same rules dont apply? :dunno

^I was thinking that too about the reflection. Imagine if it turned out to be Hector? That would be such a letdown lol.

Cr0w- I just try to avoid what the fanboys say. I played FFVII and SOTN years after all the hype, loved them both and when you don't care about the fanbase, you don't really feel the need to compare it to the other games of both respective franchises. It's easier just to not give a crap.

I didn't take it that way..I assumed you'd be playing as Alucard again. Playing as Drac could be a nice twist though.

Read cr0w's first "spoiler" that contains some info posted about the game.

The whole "weakened and needs to reacquire powers" description of Dracula/Gabriel's quest in LoS2 reeks of the traditional starting point of most action games. Which leads me to believe you will be playing as Dracula. Even notice the display of some of his powers including the "red magic/fire" whip.

It also mentions LoS2 is the "conclusion" of the LoS series. Which I'm guessing will then lead the NEXT game to being the one where you star as the "vampire hunting" Belmont in the traditional Belmont vs. Dracula storyline.

As for "Alucard". Cool if it is him, but I don't think he needs to be brought in already. :slap But I suppose every time a guy with long white hair pops up in Castlevania he will always get the "Ooo..Alucard!" reaction.

Also announced is "Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate".

It takes place 26 years after Lords of Shadow and features four multiple playable characters who fight Dracula at different time periods. Two of which are Gabriel's son Trevor Belmont and his descendant, Simon Belmont. There are images of Trevor and Simon. Trevor looks more regal in his green attire and has the Combat Cross, while Simon looks more barbaric (similar to his Castlevania Chronicles version) with red hair and the traditional leather Vampire Killer whip.

It says the events of this game will lead into LoS2.

Awesome. I knew there was going to be a reason I bought my daughter a 3DS! :yess: :yess: :yess:

So E3 posted some new news!

Playable character in Mirror of Fate: ALUCARD! He fights with a sword. Check out the Castlevania wikia.

It's looking more possible that the person who confronts Gabriel/Dracula at the end of the trailer is indeed Alucard. And like it was mentioned before, it's also likely that Trevor Belmont ends up becoming Alucard.

It's mentioned also that Simon Belmont is likely NOT Trevor's grandson but actually his SON. It states that Simon was raised in the woods by mountain folk after witnessing his parents (Trevor and Sypha?) being murdered by Dracula and his forces.

Could it be that Dracula "forces" vampirism on Trevor? Or that Trevor also becomes a vampire because he gets angry at his father for killing his wife (and possibly thinking his son is dead too?) and wants to be on equal power with him?

Very interesting!

definitely looking forward to this game! but ive been hoping for a classic type of castlevania for a long time now like 1-4. kinda like how they treated megaman 9 and 10. oh well still pumped for this game

I just finished LOS, though I still need to play the two add-on chapters, but I'm addicted, lol. I had such a blast with the game that I'm going to buy a DS just to play the the next game in the series. I'm really looking forward to this sequel though, getting to play as "Dracula" is going to be insane. The only thing that gets me is that there was practically no merchandise for the game. I think it was really well received and the fact that there is no Gabriel Belmont figure of any kind is a huge shame.

Yeah it is too bad there wasnt much for merchandise. Im thinking Mercury Steam wasnt sure how it was going to do. Hopefully the sequels will get more love.

I hope so, I like a lot of the new designs.

I'm thinking about tracking down a sculptor who would be interested in taking on a Gabriel Belmont project, at least the head sculpt. I'm just not sure how to go about it, or if there would be much interest. I'm considering trying to sculpt his armor and stuff myself..

I would love to see the armor and stuff. I've always been confused on how the shoulder armor would be functional in a fig.

I'm playing through LoS again and enjoying it all over again. I've already put in over 80 hours total. Absolutely love the environments you play through. I hope LoS2 can maintain that feeling.

It's an interesting, but confusing look for sure. It looks like a heavy cloth, yet it functions like an armor. I'm toying with the idea of trying to make a super large 1/6 body to use for a few figures.. not sure if I have the skill but I figure I might as well try. Then I'd tackle Gabriel's armor.

Definitely! I think the game was beautifully designed and rendered, I'm upset that Mecury is only doing a trilogy and nothing more. I feel like what has been established with the first game, and what's coming up in LOS is as cool as Castlevania can get. I love the idea of playing as Dracula. :panic:

:hi5:

Maybe if Mercury Steam sees good sales figures with LoS2, but I think they've already decided to move on. It's a shame because I too would like to see more Castlevania.

I'm surprised with LOS being the most successful Castlevania game ever they decided to drop it after three titles. It'll have been a fun ride while it lasted though, I just hope the next "reboot" is more like LOS than say.. Castlevania 64, lol.
