I just checked out some other reviews are they're all positive. I'm just guess he didn't like the game, but I generally don't trust reviews of anything these days.

Yeah Ill wait and see what some of the other reviews say before I pick it up. Particularly GI.

I've played and enjoyed plenty of "bad" games before. I'd wait to see if this is the general consensus before writing it off. If anything else just wait until it's on sale and pick it up cheap.

True True. If I remember correctly IGN gave LOS a lower than deserving score as well.

I read the review and I'll await further reviews before I decide to buy this at full price or not.

I do agree with the reviewer about the GBA/DS metroid-vania games. I love those games with a passion and always looked forward to every new one. I thought Lords of Shadows was cool, but I hope that we'll get more games that follow the Symphony of the Night pattern as well some day down the line.

I almost think this review, at IGN, went in with the belief that it was going to be much closer to those original side-scrolling Castlevania games of the past than it really is. I've only played a few minutes of it since getting it today, + the demo, and it really plays like a fusion of classic Castlevania and LOS so far. I'll give a more indepth post once I've logged some hours later tonight.

I'm not surprised that the Metroidvania games are better, but I was still really looking forward to this since I love LoS. I'm disappointed about the story since I enjoyed LoS's.

No need to jump the guns guys, lol. Are there already that many spoilers out there about the story? Just give it some time, check out the demo at least. :)

Okay so maybe Nintendo is biased, but this isn't the only good review. I read another that was 7/10. I haven't seen many with actual scores yet, but the only negative one I've read is the IGN review.

I put in enough time tonight to reach a point of resolution and it plays just like I expected. I really enjoy it. I'm guessing it's just not the game for everyone. If you're not into modern action games and you want pure side-scrolling, this isn't going to be what you want. It's a blend of both styles, but it really just plays like a side-scrolling LOS. LOS got me back into Castlevania after losing interested in the mid 90s so I'm definitely biased, but I think it's a good playing game.

I think most people don't buy games new anymore, so if you have any hesitation I would just wait and pick this game up later at a discount or rent it from Gamefly or something. You'll either like it or not I think.

So I ended up picking this up. Im enjoying it quite a bit but Im stuck on a part after getting the combat cross there is an elevator shaft I need to crank to go up but there a fire breathing gargoyle or something that burns the chain and I fall to my death each time. And if I stop cranking to attack it, its too far away for me to reach it. Any body thats been playing know what I need to do? Cause I dont have a clue. :lol

Edit: Posted too soon. Figured it out. :lol

Finally cracked and picked this up today. I'm digging it so far. The 3d looks awesome and the combat is simple enough to learn easy, but has nice flexibility for variety. Nice Castlevania atmosphere and music so far.

I hope that they release a 3DS that has a better viewing angle eventually. I love the 3D effect, but hate that I constantly lose it as I mash buttons and move the screen around. I try to hold it still, but its impossible for me. Especially with how narrow the sweet spot is.

I thought the first game was beautiful and very enjoyable. But I could never really get the fighting mechanics/dodging quite down right. Stuck with it and loved the ending, such a shock! That said trailer looks good, cannot wait to play it.
