Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

That pose is absolutely, fundamentally WRONG for a Christopher Reeve Superman.

What a baffling "creative" decision. It completely ruins would should have been a legendary item.

How is it wrong though??? I know it isn't a precise MOMMENT from the film, but it is a pretty decent pose.

Here was my reaction after seeing the reveal:

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

Despite the BEND OVER price point, the actual piece is nice. I could see Reeves in a pose like this. Isn't there a clip of him hovering somewhat like this? Honestly, there aren't a lot of great pose ideas for non-comic characters.

Never in ANY of the films does Reeve even come close to striking an unnatural, over-dramatic pose like this. It doesn't represent or reflect Reeve Supes AT ALL. Which should be the entire point of an item like this. What should have been an iconic piece is another that falls victim to loony over-thinking from Sideshow's creative team.

And that seems to be the consensus among big time Reeve Supes fans (Caped Wonder, and elsewhere). Not surprising.

If I am being honest I like that it has a little more of an over dramatic comicbook feel to it. I always thought The Reeve films could use a little more of that sensibility.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

Lot of talk online about the chess piece base and why can't it be a flat disc base as per 89 bats. Looking at it, that's where the weight is balancing the sculpt/pose which looks as though it should be top heavy. I'm not a big fan of the base but I can cover that...I do appreciate how the sculptor has used it to give the illusion of Superman hovering and leaning into a turn.

But that's not what this is. You have the regular comic book products to be zany with crazy comic book poses. This is a licensed collectible that is supposed to reflect Christopher Reeve's movie Superman specifically. And that is where the pose is a massive failure.

Why put a "sensibility" into a product based on something that specifically does not have said sensibility? I (and I assume at least a few others) want my 1/4 Christopher Reeve Superman to reflect HIM, not some crazy artistic bent.

But, oh well. It's pass. Not much more to say than that. I'm out.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

Anyone else think that the EX crystal will go much better with the Comic Supes PF due to it's fortress of solitude base...???

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

"....full of heart, humor and sincerity, Reeve captured the world with his performance in Richard Donner’s 1978 award-winning film.."

That's exactly what i wanted with this PF, heart, humor and sincerity, but this PF doesn't capture that its just the same exact serious expression as the Comic PF and Man of steel PF.

Hopefully Sideshow will make a Reeve Superman LSF, one that has that classic smile.

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

Re: Christopher Reeve Superman PF

Where the heck are you guys getting the extra $25 bucks is a donation from? Just wild speculation or did someone actually read that somewhere? Mt HT Reeve wasn't higher priced, and a $25 hit per customer would be awfully steep.

IMO this is just the start of the sliding scale to $450, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
