PART of the problem I see...and I have not followed the JP stuff since a day or two ago...is people going on constantly / harping on the issues. On top of that, the majority of the pics, in the beginning seemed to be taken closer than your average viewing distance.
As I have said many times, if pics were as good as the statues themselves...I would just have posters everywhere.
I am not trying to defend CC on their output, but merely it was not so much of the fact that issues/concerns were brought up...but that those issues/concerns were constantly brought up. Then on top of that to accuse them of Paint Overs or Touch Ups...I mean...at least have proof or something.
Someone posted a shot of PCS's Raiden's face up close. It did look sort of bad. But once I got my Raiden...while yes the face didnt look hot when I was 4 inches from it, but once I set him up and stepped back to a normal distance he was fine. (Nevermind their QC missed the fact that my Player 1 Raiden was shipped with a Player 2 base...that they cant seem to replace).
People did the same thing on the Endo, jumped all over their **** before actually receiving it. Now I will admit, in the Endo's case...it seemed to be warranted in the end. But again, instead of harping on the same thing for days on end, should have just brought it up once, then left it at that. A person then could have waited for their piece to confirm and complain more or cancel. But constantly repeating the issues never helped.
At the same time, I think people were harping because 1. They were (or at least seemed to me) slightly worse...but I usually see that from production pieces. I usually see Proto > Sample > Production / what we get. 2. They just went through, what seems like he same thing, with the Endo.
Some times people need to remember that while you, as a customer, you are waiting on a few said pieces and watching them closely...while CC as a company has more than a few thing to juggle.
Also, from what I have learned (and seen) from a few years in the this hobby...prices are going up. This T-Rex scene is not your 1k piece like ED or Cain, thus I would not expect there level of quality. For around 600 + the decent size + the distance you usually look at it ... it seems ... alright.
In my defense though...I stopped POing everything and just waiting for inhand these days.
I also realized that, for myself, the hunt of the pieces is more fun that waiting for a PO.
But I also noticed one major thing wrong by CC...Paul said "I take it as personally as you guys." As a game artist...while I need to take criticisms and feedback, I cant take anything personally. Seems like he is taking it a little too personally. But then again...maybe others are making it a little too personal.
