If you do go--just leave them alone, if you end up doing something against them, I'm sure they'd try to sue you. Remember it is illegal to use cuss words directed at a person.

Also--wouldn't this be something different from a funeral? In that court case they said the area is like public property. But I would think that the San Diego convention center would be private property, and they could legally make them leave. I'm sure they couldn't do it inside, but even in front of the building.

What? No it's not. Freedom of speech, baby. First Amendment. You just have to be careful not go over the top, or it may be grounds for disorderly conduct. I mean, I guess in some places it may be illegal, but I have a problem with that. Here in Florida, swearing at someone is not illegal and is not included in our definition of disorderly conduct.

Aren't there rules against religious threads on this forum?

This isn't a thread about religion. :)

It's a thread about a hate group, disguised as a "church", who plans on protesting SDCC.

This group tries their best to get people to react with physical contact so they can video record it as evidence. If anyone confronts them, the best thing to do is remain clam and level headed or just ignore them.

I don't think they'll be on convention property. More than likely they'll be across the street on public property.

I've wanted to see these loons in person for quite some time now but whenever I was in a city they were protesting in, something always came up. Not this time, I'm going to grab my lunch break when they're there. Kinda wondered what I was going to hell for, it'll be nice to find out!

Someone should just man up and toss a Molotov cocktail into a crowd of these _______s. They'll stop pretty quickly after that happens a few times.

That's a bit harsh. Polystones will do. They can start with the Bullseye comiquette.:lol:rotfl

WOW. That's all I can say.

I do not, nor have I ever worshiped my statues. They are beautiful and I love them but the only worship I give is to the Lord. But I would never get behind a church who would do this. It's not up to them who/what people worship. It's up to us humans alone because we were given free will.

I believe a God exists, and so I believe we will answer to Him and if someone chooses to worship the dirt, that's up to them and will answer to God at the end of their time. It is not up to a church to decide, or judge. Yeesh!

If leaving offerings of spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendy's and grape kool aid for my Cinemaquette Predator is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

It's really sad to see in person. These folks just standing there preaching this hate.

I've seen a few documentaries on them and interacted with some other hate groups, I feel sympathy for them because they're basically angry brainwashed idiots, especially the kids.

But there's a novelty factor in that they're the most prominent hate-filled brain-washed idiots in America. So if I can get some enjoyment out of their unfortunate shenanigans, it's what I consider a very worthwhile lunch indeed.

This is one of the most intelligent replies i've read here. You almost don't belong here. :lecture Good answer, girl. :)

They will most likely stand in the little plaza across from the Con center (where Tin Fish is) or before the train/trolly tracks. They may even post themselves on street corners -- all "public" areas. I don't know if the Convention Center is private property; am thinking it's probably municipal (public) property. Regardless, they will probably just stand there with their hate signs. Best thing to do is to not engage them at all. They WANT that and they WANT the publicity of any scuffles and arguments that will occur. Remember that many of them have gone to law school as well as being ordained "ministers." They will litigate in a New York minute while wrapping the lst Amendment around themselves for protection. Having encountered them a few times in Topeka, this is the only way to deal with them. Pretend they don't exist.

:pfft: Not even worth the time to discuss in a thread.

Seriously, these goons were protesting at an outdoor rock festival I was at a couple of months ago. It was all in the papers and on the radio beforehand and people were saying things much like in this thread. But the funny thing is that there was literally like 5 of them total, and hardly anyone there even noticed them. I had to actively go out of my way to find them (out of curiosity). Otherwise, I'd never even have known they were there, save for all the fuss beforehand.

This will be the same. The publicity & attention these morons get is MUCH more visible than they are themselves at these events. Don't fall for it. This is giving them what they want.

The only way to deal with the truly ignorant... is to ignore them.

Well said, BG! :clap :clap :clap

Agreed, especially on the last sentence.

Of course, the Hulk is my idol.

Since he's my new God, I get a radiation cure every week and paint my skin green.

I can't wait for his concert from his band, Hulk and the Marvelous Marvels.

I'll be crying like a baby.

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

My idol for ever and ever. <3
