I never said I was proud of it... :lol

You've got to understand one thing though, it was a different time and place 30+ years ago and it is a hard habit to break... but I am slowly working on it.

Yeah back in the times of the Wild wild west you weren't cool unless you smoked. :lol :monkey3

Seriously though, you can do it!

I know... your thread has actually helped me see that I just really need to want to do it. It will happen sooner rather that later...

Been a while since I updated. I am happy to report the countdown to 1 year is approaching! I can't believe it. I walked into a Casino on Sunday and could smell smoke everywhere.:monkey4 I can't believe I smoked for so long without realizing it. I have moved on to bigger and better things. I am now drinking urine and fluoride filled water on a daily basis and feel great!:rotfl:monkey3 Thanks again for all of your support through the past year. :duff

Keith, just wanted to congratulate you. Never been a smoker but I know how much will power it takes to quite.

Glad to help! My key motivator was watching my Father pass. I knew that I had to quit or I might end up the same way. It took me a good 9 months to get myself ready. Then on Easter Sunday I vowed to my mom to quit. The next day I went to the doctors and asked for Chantix. A week later I tore my pack up. Like my R.Lee Ermy Sideshow figure says "Motivation is the key to success!" I think that is the case here. You have to be motivated and willing to do it! If you tell yourself you can then you can. Good luck man! :rock

I agree. It's like any bad habbit. You have to WANT and I mean really want to quit. If you don't really want to then you won't.

I wish you luck bro!

My mom smoked when I was a kid and she quit cold turkey.

My mom and dad did the same thing after 15 years of constant naggin from her kids:D My aunt and grandmom still smoke like they competing in the olympics or some ++++. They sound like they're about to cough up lungs and ++++ all the time and at christmas, you can easily tell which presents are from my grandmom. It's the one's that stinks of smoke:yuck

Smoking is only cool if it's a cool guy doing it in a movie:D

Congrats Badmoon! I am closing in on a year in July! I had smoked since I was 16 and smoked pretty hard-core for about 10 years. I hated being seen by the kids smoking and just quit cold-turkey. On the other hand I did look friggin' awesome when i smoked so that is a bummer! :D

good job everybody who quit. i smoked between the ages of 17 and 24. heavily. i remember when i finally just stopped and it was hard for about 5 months or so but i did it without cheating. never felt better in my life. now i drink a lot but i think that isnt as bad.:lol i recently knew someone who succumbed to lung cancer and they were only in their mid 30's and hardly smoked at all. it was horrible seeing them change in just a few months until they finally passed. not a good way to go.:monkey2

:fireworks 1 YEAR SMOKE FREE AS OF TODAY! THIS IS MY FINAL POST IN THIS THREAD! :fireworks

Good luck to anyone else who has or is trying to quit. :duff
