Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

I love them! Especially the poses. Jerry looks especially manic and wild eyed.

Who did you get to sculpt them?

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Thanks Jim! The sculpts are made by Peter the Painter. He did a great job....I will be posting a few more pictures in the coming days...

Here they are...direct from the Copa in New York City...Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis!!

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Looking great! You just have to make the the ribbon on the boater thinner.

You could also use those hats and get some 1/6 glasses and make a great Harold Lloyd.

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Thanks...yep, good thought on the ribbons...Hmm...never thought of the Harold Lloyd angle..:wink1:..

After the show...Dean takes a break and unwinds with a drink...

:lol Awesome to see those guys working so well together, after all these years. That was nice of Frank to stop by too.

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Why am I thinking that "The Rat Pack" is your next project????

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Thanks for your comments guys! Yeah, it was nice of Frank to stop by, but I don't think Sammy will be stopping by soon...nor Peter Lawford, nor Joe E. Bishop. Funny, I never liked any of those guys...only Dean and Frank. When they got together, it was fun to watch...

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Great figures and some wonderful photos, your posing and sets are really enjoyable.

Thanks for the mention too.

Cheers,
Peter.

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

I agree with you about Bishop and Lawford but, come on...

You never liked Sammy? The "Candy Man"?

Ok, so now you've got me humming "who can take a rainbow..."...

Oh, please, stop it! Can't get that song off my mind :rotfl

No, I believe the right word for me was to tolerate Sammy while he was with Dean and Frank. I saw a b&w concert they did with Carson in St. Louis which was fabulous except the part where Sammy did his thing alone..I guess the big boys needed a break, so they had Sammy do a little dance..I bet he even brought them coffee when asked...

Thanks Peter! Coming from you, it means a lot...your great sculpts are the most important component. And even after that, you always provide the upbeat sign off of "Cheers"...can't help but be in a good mood! Can us "yanks" use that phrase as well? I suppose we could but it just wouldn't be the same..:hi5:

Let me try anyway...Cheers!

You've done some great comedians, Jerry. Do you think you will ever go down the "Road" with Hope and Crosby?

How about Hope and Crosby, and Martin and Lewis! Hilarious! It's a bit long, but at least watch the beginning where Jerry takes Bing's toupee off!

I couldn't see where Jerry takes Bing's rug off...

I did see him mess up Hope's hair, but Bing looks like he took one look at Jerry and left the building.

My mistake, you're right! It looked like he pulled Bing's hairpiece off and put it back on real quick...but it was Hope. Bing probably saw what was coming, and as you said, left and didn't return. Hilarious though...the early Martin and Lewis routines were so loose and unpredictable...

This is what I read, which gave me the impression that he did it:

"The comedy team later made an appearance at the 1952 Olympic Fund Telethon, hosted by Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. There is surviving footage of this appearance by Martin and Lewis, and they are uninhibited, wild, and electric. Incredibly, when Martin and Lewis come on stage, Bing Crosby rushes off in fear. Crosby was terrified Lewis would pull off Crosby's toupee (!), and he never did reappear while the boys were on."

Ah! That explains it. It's almost more funny that he was afraid of what Jerry would do so he just removed himself from the situation.

Very funny clip regardless. If Jerry was a kid now his parents would put him on ridilin. (I always thought it was spelled ritalin, learn something new every day).

Re: Classic Comedians Thread - Laurel and Hardy, Marx Brothers, Jack Benny & others..

Yes, some great photos indeed, and I have never seen them before. I guess I never thought that these great teams had much contact with each other because they were the direct competition.

It's really fantastic to see them together. It is unfortunate they never worked in films together like when Stanley Kramer put all those great comedians in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World". That film kills me, just love Winters and Shawn in that flick.
