That is what I thought. After seeing that promo image, I cancelled my preorder for the regular trooper, figuring we would get a preorder for a SDCC variant officer. Just don't have the funds for two generic trooper figures this year, but will definately pick a regular trooper up later on down the road.

:D

That's just it. I felt the same way when I first saw him until some faithful Joe fans jarred the rust in my brain :lol, namely EvilFace and Khev, when they mentioned Scarface. He was a Cobra officer who had a significant role in the comics and was the only Cobra officer to wear a read balaclava. So, if it's who most of us think it is, it's not a "generic officer," but the actual character, Scarface:

A quick search on YoJoe.com speaks as to just how much of a role he had in Cobra: https://www.google.com/cse?cx=011526173011921961145%3Ak233ormzxos&ie=UTF-8&q=scarface&sa=Search

Well then I must have this figure! Cannot wait for the SDCC preorders to become available. Sadly, this is the first year I will be missing in six con seasons.

By skipping the con, it gives you more money to put toward product :chew

I know, I know. But it just does not seem right to be missing SDCC. I have a friend who lives on the trolley line above the airport and always have a free place to stay, but with less hours at work, I'm just trying to save by skipping all cons this year. I really enjoy the five days in San Diego every year, and feel it is well worth the money, although the crowds are getting horendous. But I like listening to the creators of both comics and collectibles, etc. I'll probably just fly down for one day, maybe Friday, to pick up my con exclusives from Sideshow and try to get one other item I always buy in the Toy Growers Cultyard. I mean there are some things you just cannot get if you're not there, unless you are willing to pay the scalper fees.

I'm sure there are fellow freaks here willing to pick them up for you if you ask nicely and make sure they have the cash a week before hand (PayPal ensures you'll get what you pay for). And many people and companies, like Sideshow and Michael Crawford, who always have excellent coverage so it's like you're there without the $$$ deficit.

SO it's 100% confirmed we are getting scarface, meaning a head with scars on the face? I hope they don't forget to put the insignia on his helm.

I wonder if SS would be willing to lighten the blue on CC to match his troops? Though, I am probably waayy to late in asking that now.

No its 0% confirmed that we are getting Scarface. There is a bit of debate. Some have pointed out that Scarface is a Cobra Trooper, the only one to wear the red balaclava and that'd be the release. Another member pointed out that Scarface's helmet had the darker blue "triangle" and that in that pic there are no visable scars where the character's scar were a brighter pink which would be somewhat visible especially against the pale skin and red balaclava.

So what he have is either the assumption of the Cobra Officer or Scarface but a confirmation of neither.

Yup, it's not confirmed, but the figure looks like the Scarface character. I don't now if they will offer him as such, they might throw him up as Cobra Officer which would kinda blow.

The Cobra Trooper's Exclusive version should have been Silver Cobra Logo and helmet emblem.

I would put my friends that are going through that, but the one item I am always after is usually limited to 100, or less sometimes, and is on a raffle system. Unfortunately. I'm sure, I won't be going down this year anyway, but it sure will feel wierd. I know SS will send product to those of us who cannot make it...

The Cobra Officer looks completely different than Scarface (at least with the color scheme and slightly modified head sculpt):

That's why it would be ultra lame and a blatant oversight for SS to try to pass Scarface off as just a regular officer. Now an Ex version of the Cobra Officer would be better. Maybe Scarface being the SDCC Ex version of the Officer with the regular version going up for order after the PPO? :huh Guaranteed two-sale there. :lol

I'm actually expecting the new one to be announced as a Cobra Trooper variant or a Cobra Officer. I think that Scarface is a long shot. Although I guarantee you we see him customized.

All the Cobra Troopers in the early comics had red masks and yellow harnesses so SSC could easily pass the new figure off as another army builder.

So I guess they have no excuse to attempt it then since they're clearly going off of the Bradstreet versions. :lol

Scarface would be awesome!
(I always thought he was cool as a kid.)
Slap on a trenchcoat, take off his helmet
and I'm in heaven. :D

I actually bought the Hasbro 12" Cobra Trooper
and put on a trenchcoat and he looks pretty
close. Now all he needs is that "oops, my
boomerang came back and smacked me in
the face" scar.

When you get Cobra Commander, you can always remove the trenchcoat (it looks gay on him anyways), and save it for Scarface.
