Ski! You're such a nut! LOL! I remember you trying to help me out a couple years ago now when I was just getting into all the kit bashing stuff and trying to put my Riddick together! I asked for your help with the blades since I loved what you did with yours. I ended getting them from another source, so it all worked out. It's funny to see me working on that Riddick in the show which will always remind me of you.

I love RIDDICK, one of my favs... I can never keep the guy in my collection, every time I make one and I'm like "this is the one, the RIDDICK for my cllectnnnnn.. ...err....mmmm..." I get a PM like the dude on the show asking for your grail Godzilla.

I'm still going to have a nice RIDDICK on my shelf someday!

I remember my first RIDDICK and his blades, they were real metal. Grinding those nights on stainless steel was no joke and it felt like I was going to loose a thumb at any moment.

Ah that's what I thought . I figured that was fake. You don't have to worry about getting yourself in trouble . Another collector on the show admitted one of his deals was staged too ( you probably haven't seen it but a guy pretended to trade a bunch of long boxes of comics for a hulk 181)

Its too bad this show is such a hack. The time could be better used to showcase collectibles and let people see whats out there. This show is the LCD for the collecting community. I haven't seen Marlo's episode, but I do know he has a vast and varied collection, sad that studios waste film trying to lessen the collecting experience.

I assume SyFy figures more people will watch if it's couched in a negative/disfunctional way. As collectors we'd just like to see other collections and maybe enjoy seeing someone get out from under an overwhelming collection to get to a place where it's better managed/displayed. But, we're a smaller community that those that would watch "Jersey Shore" or "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo and the Human Thumb"

But whenever you see "intervention" in the title you know it will be overly dramatic and heavily on the "tainment" side of "infotainment"/

Thats why I actually liked the episode with the robot collector, because instead of hammering on the guy too much, she just helped him organize, list, and insure his collection; and she actually spent time talking about the value and awesomeness of his pieces. Thats what i find personally cool, is having highlights to showcase how enjoyable this can be.

Man, I'm just glad this show wasn't around 13-15 years ago. My then-wife would have moved Heaven and Earth to put me on there and do a real intervention with my Star Wars collection (which at the time literally took up the entire basement).

But, see... I didn't need an intervention. I got out of it all on my own, sold a bunch of stuff and completely reformed my collecting habits. (Actually, the intervention did happen. It was just called the prequels )

Well I assumed changing from SicFi to SyFy was part of that... not to mention the have wrestling on there now

But, like everyone else they know dramatic crap sells so they're just cashing in as best they can Kind of like Face Off... a cool idea to have people working on FX make-up, but they add so much weak-ass drama to it that the show is nearly unwatchable. I get that the format of the fashion shows is a proven one, but try to have just an ounce of creativity

This was a slap in the face to probably a solid majority of their demographic. So not sure who thought this would be a good idea, let alone a hit.

I hear ya. Unfortunately, it looks like the goal of this show is to make collectors look like oddball hoarders with social issues. And they get to that through staging situations and using things out of context to make people feel uncomfortable (or at least look that way) for collecting toys. Not once have I seen Elyse try to help people reorganize their collections, but moreso, she tries time and again to get them to part with grails under the guise that they have some weird disorder. Because apparently selling little pieces of who you are makes you normal.

I think you're seeing a completely different show than the rest of us. Perhaps a bit defensive? Does your house look like some of the more extreme collectors?

I'm more curious - did they make up the term "model bashing" just for the show?

Oh oh! This one is gonna be tough to explain! Time to place some well placed coughs when we do get around to seeing this episode! Either that or mama's gonna need some new shoes or something!

I saw Rainman's PeeWee bike - at least they didn't mention how much that cost....

I wish they'd focus more on the organization and displaying of collections rather than trying to get people to sell off their stuff. Actually, except for the Barbie collector cleaning out her sons' closets, I don't think they've shown anyone with an "after" look at their collection.

I think the show is approaching it just right - many of the collectors need to thin out their collections just so they can live. Most can't afford to move to a bigger location, so just focusing on organization and display is not an option.

The only thing I'd disagree with is Elyse trying to convince the modern comic collector that he needed silver and golden age comics in his collection. That wasn't his focus, and those are not likely to hold their value too much longer either (at least silver age aren't).

Saw the episode with Emarae in it, you're the **** man, love your collection!

I don't think they portrayed you too badly, but if they are staging deals they should just stick with more realism imo.

What I didnt like about the last episode with Sean Long was he didn't know the after market value of his HT and his other items especially his 80's Thundercat. When the appraisal guy said his IM MKI was worth almost $800, he was surprised. We know that is not happening with the MKI 2.0 being released and if you collect and review collectibles then you should know by checking Ebay and other sites what your stuff is worth.
Also the show Toy Hunters, all those people selling to him must be too lazy to sell their stuff online and rather take a big hit with his low balling.

In fairness, the guy who sold the Jurassic Park prototypes initially asked for $600. Jordan could have ripped him off but told him the value and gave $2000 for the set.
