So what do the Paterno apologists have to say now that Sandusky is convicted? Did ol' JoePa still do all he could to stop an utter monster?
I have zero dog in that fight but please tell me what Joe Pa could have done?
Alert the authorities right? They could have ran an investigation right?
He was investigated for nearly two years before the story blew up this past season.
Without the proper evidence Penn St and Joe Pa would have opened themselves up to major lawsuit and a road you would never want to go down legally.
Everyone associated that knew of JS's actions were fired as they should have been.
Yes hind sight is 20/20 but what Joe Pa and Penn St did was what they thought was in the best interest for Penn St at the time.
Obviously it wasn't what should have been done in light of everything that has come out. You think Joe Pa knew what the jurors know now? He had no idea. He dismissed it, got rid of it, and buried it. He was wrong. Plain and simple.
I just don't think they would have had enough evidence on JS to convict him when Joe Pa was brought into the picture
(March 2002). Penn St most likely knew this and they just got rid of him and tried to bury it.
It's a terrible, terrible crime but I think people are making way too much of Joe Pa and dragging him over the coals about it. Could he have done more? Of course. Did he do what any normal person would do? Yes. He reported it to his superiors. The real scumbag who I couldn't sit next to imo is the grad assistant at the time, formally WR coach, Mike McQueary.
