Just a thought, perhaps a thread SPECIFICLY for medi vs HT vs SS vs whatever should be made, and all such comments be restricted to there?

It wont work. Those that like to stir the pot will always go outside the intended thread to do so.

Medicom Luke was an awful figure, but can you really call these toys???

I'd say these look more like toys.

However, I do have these and they are excellent.

And Brother, their plastic men, wearing doll clothes with plastiv weapons and armor. Regardless of how they look, they're ALL still toys :D

But see, I don't think people (well, most people) come into these discussions with "an elitist mindset" at all. At the end of the day, this is just people talking about toys and using their own (very differing) opinions. And as long as no one crosses the line with ad hominen attacks, everyone should be entitled to their opinion, no matter what it is.

Majority you're right, they don't, but some talk about Medicom with an elitist attitude and just spend time talking down other companies. I have no issue with someone loving any one company more than others, but I think it's possible to express you're love for that company without making insinuation that you'd be crazy not to feel the same way. I speak positively about Sideshow but I don't try to make other people love it or make suggestions that SSC's the best and all. I think negative and positive can co-exist if the manner in which points are made. The key is to keep discussion about the products and not bring the collector's POV into debate.

i had the same thought earlier. i think you can take HT out of the picture though because there doesn't seem to be any controversy or arguements with them. probably because they don't make SW figs and that's where the arguments derive from.

Exactly, it's a Star Wars collecting mind that leads into all the mess, it's clear as day, you never see the types of issues you see in the SW forum in ALIENS or Terminator or any of those. Perhaps it's because Star Wars oversaturates collectors with product where the other properties have such a small offering that people are just grateful that anything is made.

TOO TRUE! lol

Personaly, I've got HT, SS and A single Medi fig ( fett, with jango on the way.)

I plan to get more of each. I've got the HT superman on pre order, the takara Batman, and i want to get a medi stormie or two, a marnit, and I'm talking to someone about stormtrooper kits from Koto. Point is, I buy what I like, and Pass on what I don't. Much eaiser that way. :)

Really, I thought it was because HT has done things to blow both Medicom and Sideshow completely out of the water!!! :lol

Seriously though, I think you're right.

And I'd even go so far as to disagree with MaulFan and say it's not necessarily because it's SW. It's that SW is the only license for which both companies produce 1/6 scale figures, and that makes comparisons easier. If Medicom suddenly started making Terminator figures or Sideshow started making Marvel figures, then I'm pretty sure we'd see the war (let's face it...that's what it is) spread to those arenas as well.

yep take the Batman Begins figure that Medi, HT and Takara have produced...you would think that would be an all out brawl but I haven't seen any arguments about those.

Um, what happened to the thread about Commander Praji?

Did I miss the highly anticipated release of the Medicom Praji that we're comparing this to ... ?

:huh

That, and I've noticed that many SW fans (myself shamefully included sometimes) Demand perfection Right out of the box.

So glad I like to customize :D

I would say it is though, I was just about to say as Al did, Medicom, Hot Toys and Takara all made a Batman begins figure, and there is debate amongst collectors about which is better, but it's civil and informative debate, it seems like only SW that comes to blows.

true but SS isn't in the same price point but HT and Medi are.....those are products one could argue about because they are more apples-to-apples. i'm just glad we have so many choices.

I don't expect perfection, I actually can't say I've ever bought something with expectation. Every thing is usually like Christmas morning, I just open the box and see what's inside. I usually feel confident with brands I buy heavily from that I know what I'll be getting, but even then sometimes companies miss their own quality bar.

That's impossible, though. Peoples' personal opinions always enter into the equation. And that's fine. Otherwise, we'd be left with riveting discussions like "Darth Vader wears a black suit." "Yes, he does!". :lol

I think you missed what I was getting at. Not to not have people's personal views shared, but not to discuss them. Not to have a discussion like, "well MaulFan's view is....cuz he..." things of that nature. I agree with you if there were no personal views shared this place would be drier than an episode of The View lo.

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I'm on the same page with you there. :duff

Cool :duff, for sheer entertainment, it'd be funny to watch a chat like you described.

Why yes the Imperial uniform is clearly shade of green.

Oh yes, quite so, fantasitc observation, yes.

How bout that Vader fellow, clearly something must be wrong with him, the man breaths and speaks like he's in an iron lung.

Quite so, yes the fellow's a bit beat up these days.

I considered that one as well, but there is no Sideshow version in the mix there. All three were imported figures.

It seems that it's more of a Medicom fan vs. Sideshow fan flame war as opposed to SW fans being overly picky. Not that we can't be, but I personally think the deeper roots are between the companies.

I hope you know I was joking with that comment.

Although...Powerloaders, ED-209, Robocop, Superman...they are the stuff dreams are made of... :D

Heh, Forgot to put the word Many, in my post up there. Completely changes the context of the entire sentance. :) :lol

I will agree that there does seem to be some anominity between sidehow fanboys and Medi fanboys. Reminds me of the old SNES vs Genesis wars too.

Soooo happy I'm not Biased :)

Seriously though. I agree with Maulfan, Each company has their strengths, and their weaknesses. Not a one of them will ever be completely perfect. There will allways be people who prefer one over the other.

Getting the thread back on track, Am I the only one who think's Parji's gloves are too long? I thought the imperial officers who wore gloves, had ones that stopped at the wrist, and the sleve went on top of the glove ( look at Veers in the AT-A, most visible gloves)

Second question: Which hat do most of you prefer? The plastic one, or the cloth one? So far, i think I like the plastic one.

Now i just need to decide what I'm going to do with the extra Praji, headswap, or something else.....
