I like it and it's a nice representation of Hughes art but I'm not sure if it's a great match style-wise to the exisiting statues in the line.

I think she looks fantastic! :rock Like RJ said, it's a very Gil Elvgren style but I know not everyone cares for that. It's almost reminiscent of the She-Hulk Comiquette also.

I can see that it doesn't quite go with the others style wise but I honestly wasn't expecting them all to be the same. I'm not bothered by them looking different at all. I'm all for sexy poses too but I love this type of style so I still think she looks sexy.

I think it would be awesome if Adam designs Supergirl in a similar style. :D

This is rare coming from me but I have to say she is the worst in the line so far. I was never excited about a Batgirl anyways because I dislike the character but it was going to be an AH! Batgirl so I was getting her. Unfortunately my boyfriend likes her so she will be next to the others. The pose doesn't matter because I don't expect them all to be the same because their not the same now but the head is just not looking good. This version in the pic below would have been better but with the black and yellow colors.

But of course!! :rock :D

And it comes out on November 10th...on the Marine Corps birthday! Couldn't have asked for a better present to myself!! :lol :rock :rock :rock
I didn't know you were in the Marines man, that's awesome!

It'll be an early present for myself too since my Birthday is November 16th! :rock I was honestly expecting it to come out in December, so the earlier the better. I just hope it doesn't get delayed at all.

Yup, I'm a Marine Vet (No such animal as an Ex-Marine :D).

I hope it doesn't get delayed either. I'd hate to have to call in a Fire Mission on DCD. :lol

This might be my first skip - not a fan of this piece at all. All of the other ladies are represented as sexy, powerful and stoic. And then there's Babs? I can appreciate what they were trying to do, but I'm just not a fan of the pose or the comedic aspect but it just didn't translate.

I'm going to have to agree with IC on this. He could have used it on another character and her head looks like she is been touch by Kenshiro. So, she may have only 5 seconds to live. I want to like it, but at the moment I'm not maybe in the future. I got a lot of time to look at it.

Batgirl is confirmed as the next in the series.........

AHA! confirmation at last! thanks for posting that, mart. :)

i agree that she may not necessarily fit in with the other cover girls due to the cute-sy nature. the more "appropriate" depiction would be like the pic black cat posted below.

but i actually like this version. i think there is a place for a playful interpretation of dc's girls. as it is, i could never really take batgirl very seriously (and supergirl too, for that matter). always found them a little cheesy. so the tongue-in-cheek look of this piece kinda feels alright to me. sold!

This line was very strong, so there was bound to be a misstep. I just wish it hadn't been one of my favorite characters. It's not just the representation of Barbara as a ditzy teenager, but the proportions aren't really comparable to the control art. I'll buy it, but I won't be happy about it...P(

It's too bad the majority don't seem to like this one. She's getting totally bashed over at SF. :lol

Also, I understand everyone has a right to their opinions but I really don't agree with it being called a "misstep" in this line. Just cause it's not in the style you like or didn't come out how you wanted it to doesn't make it a mistake. I'm sure there's going to be enough people that are going to pick her up and be happy.

It is a misstep if the majority of the collectors who have been there since the beginning, and have been equally passionate about every release, reach a near unanimous consensus that a new offering doesn't fit.

I don't think it's that bad, but my opinion of the character is accurately represented by the statue. She was always a goofball, even if she was a goofball who could hand you your ass. Loveable, but not entirely threatening. She actually had a lot in common with
Stephanie Brown, and it makes a lot of sense that Brown is the girl who now fills her boots.

So some members on a couple forums are the majority of collectors that collect this line? There's plenty of collectors out there that don't even visit places like this so how do we know what they think?

I'm sorry but I still don't agree with calling a piece a misstep or mistake even if it can be confirmed that the majority doesn't like it. It's what the artist wanted and is happy with so I don't think anyone has the right to call it that except for that person.

Thank you for telling me what I have a right to say/think and what I don't. If the artist has anything to say on the matter, I will certainly defer obediently to his opinion and forget all the reasons I had for believing what I did before I was told what to think.

Very appreciative of the advice Havok. I will treasure it.

However, if the majority of collectors decide that the statue does not fit with the style of the rest of the line (no, not the people on this forum--the real majority of collectors) then they will either buy it grudgingly, or they just won't buy it, and it will, in fact, be a misstep.

I was just at the DC Direct site and I noticed that there are no edition sizes listed for any of these. Most of them have some variation of 'limited edition: manufactured to order'. Zatanna and Wonder Woman both have statements that sound as though the original edition sizes are no longer legit.

totally agree with Havok. again, everyone's entitled to their own, but you just can't bash something that some people might feel otherwise.

it's just totally different from what we've seen so far :)

hopefully, there's a partner piece for Babs like what they're doing with Harley and Ivy. that may shed some light on why these chose this pose. she does remind me of Betty Boop though :D
