I can see how he might want to protect his seamstress from having every other member with a custom project trying to use her. But I have personally thought that she deserves full credit for doing such amazing work, and that just referring to her in a generic way took something away from that. It does seem like a number of people now have been able to contact here though with their various projects.

I DO want to give her full credit, but I respect Rainman's decisions about it. I prefer that than letting him down, I respect the man that much.

Yeah, I totally get your point of view JOhnny, just explaining why I haven't been shy about sharing what (little) I know about this stuff. Of course, I have no first hand knowledge, have only contacted Rainman about stuff I've bought, etc., so I hope posting her name (which as far as I know is a pseudonym) isn't considered bad form. But several others have posted it publicly, which is the only reason I know what it is.

:exactly: ahhh-yup. . .

I just didn't like only being able to refer to her as "rainman's" tailor. Soooo, Iris it is.

HI Guys, I am not sure what this is about.

but let me correct this, Iris is not the person working with Rainman's costume
and iris is nothing connected with that tailor team~who works for rainman~
different person~~

Iris(Kim Se A)is my staff who is running my outfit team ^^
I made that name for our outfit team~
pronounciation : iminime(AI MI NI MI), IRIS (AI RI S), My community : ifigure(AI FIGURE)

don't be confused ~~

Yes, but I believe she only provides the prototypes/templates for the outfits Iminime uses. Thus far, the actual quality of Iminime clothing is not up to the level of what you see with Rainman.

Correct : iminime team never got any work from her team.
you are confused. IRIS is my staff, not the one works for Rainman.

IRIS(KIM SE A) is team leader of my outfit team ^^

Thanks~~

My confusion then, but that is the name people have attribute to Rainman's tailor in the past. And I'm pretty sure that folks who have had close contact with you have said that Rainman's tailor have worked on your releases Denny, but it may be some confusion with the name. Like I said, I don't have any first-hand information.

Would still like to have a name to refer to Rainman's tailor, even if it isn't her (his? their?) actual name.

I get why people hate recasters.
I don't and have bought a few in the past.
I would prefer buying direct from the artist and have a few times when I can afford it.
To me its all about the figures and if I can get one/make one cheaper I will.
I personally would'nt recast for profit but see why people do, if a sculpt is unavailable or too expensive to begin with.
I have been tempted to buy a "they live" sculpt on ebay recentley but have resisted due to lack of funds as it is still not "cheap" for a recast and I don't know the sellers rep.
Tried contacting mr barlow a year ago, directly to see if he would make some more but I think he is busy on other projects.
Is it wrong to buy in this case?
Don't think I will anyway.
Waiting on sculpts can be a bit of a worry if it goes over the 45 days time period and nothing arrives.
Important to ask around and read threads to see if people are dependable.

Paying a deposit and then the balance when a figure/sculpt is ready to ship seems the safest way to me.
That way the seller knows your serious and you have some cover on the major chunk of money.

Could be the seamstress for Rainman would rather be anonymous... seems like the work is steady and if she (sounds like she) can avoid all of us then probably better for her :lol

If that's the case, then power to her :D I've read a LOT of Rainman talk, and the only name I've seen attributed to her was the incorrect one. So one way or the other I guess her identity is not readily available.

Just thought I’d throw in my two cents as it was brought up a few pages back.

With regards to the tailor I think gb has hit the nail on the head:)

Well the entire thread was cleaned up for that very purpose. Makes no sense talking about it, as another s hitstorm would only have this Locked up.

Again.

absolutely agree on this, especially because those producing the pieces are the ones telling the designers what is feasible and what is not -- they're effectively co-designers.

i work with a leather artisan and we produce designer furniture (mainly chairs), we're suppliers for several famous and high end furniture brands.

comparing this to the fashion doll and action figure field, the protectionism, though understandable, strikes me as a bit odd. if i wanted to contact a tailor or seamstress to inquire about the possibility of a custom project that hasn't been tackled yet, it seems this info is restricted to a few.

to avoid possible conflicts with projects that have already been taken on and are limited runs (and thus "financial investments"), an agreement with the tailor/seamstress to turn down anybody who inquires about these production runs would be perfectly sufficient (if necessary, in written form) ... unless the custom(iz)er doesn't trust the tailor and therefore keeps the disclosure of the contact info under lock and key. :horror

All I have to say is what my doctor told me: "**** happens" :lol

But not really all I have to say, most of all custom projects take time and most are re-tweaked due to criticism and such.

Any advice will be great appreciated I ordered a few items from members and I know you have a window with paypal of 45 days should I get my money back or continue to wait ? Tried on contacting and no response.
