Can't believe how amazing that finale was. I rewatched the whole series over the last three weeks and it was cool to rewatch the beginning episodes knowing what Wells' endgame was

WOW! I am genuinely blown away! When I sat down to watch it and they said, "Season 1 Finale", I realized I had forgotten this was still the first season! SO much has happened!
I too was practically crying when he didn't save his mom and when he was talking to her. So heartbreaking. At least he was there for her in the very end and eased her passing by telling her everyone was ok. I'm getting misty just writing this!
And I audibly gasped when Eddie did that. At first I thought maybe Joe shot RF while he was distracted delivering his monologue! But then they revealed it! Why couldn't Eddie just vow not to have kids? Or vow to get a vasectomy?
And I guess maybe Victor Garber Dr. Stein will be the new Dr. Wells next season and act as advisor/father figure to the group? I am sad to see that Tom Cavanagh won't be back. Maybe they figure out a way to get him back anyway as the real Dr. Wells.
And I liked how the season worked as a standalone season with a big bad running throughout--like classic Buffy seasons. I hope they continue that way--one big bad for the season, and lots of little bads throughout.

Awesome news about Cavanagh. But that brings up some major time travel paradox problems. So if RF never existed, does that mean Barry's mom is still alive? Does it mean that Dr. Wells was never taken over and therefore has not yet built the complex (it was supposed to be done in 2020)?

Please give Firestorm and Capt Cold some costumes. CC looks stupid in a plain parka. It's like only Flash is trying to conceal his identity in this universe, all the meta humans go around letting people know who they are. Kinda same for Arrow, Diggle really needs a mask or something...dude got a wife and kid and he goes around non chalantly with no care in the world.

But a costume for captain cold? I guess they can give him some cool super suit but he never looked cool by default:

I saw the Capt. Cold POP Vinyl figure and thought it looked funny haha, I have no problem with the parka since it sort of looks like his comic book iteration

The Reverse Flash was killed in the shows "present" timeline.Why would Barry's mom be alive?
Wells was taken over before that.Barry should have ran back to the night Wells was killed and stopped Reverse Flash there!!!!
The only thing that's trowing me off is why he sees himself in prison? Maybe it was another alternate timeline where Barry was accused of his mothers death instead of the father?

But they didn't just kill RF, they erased his existence. That means he was never born in the first place and therefore never grew up to go back in time to kill Barry's Mom and never took over Wells's body.

But it had to happen for him to be in this timeline for everything to happen that led up to him being wiped from existance.
Like, Flash becoming Flash. How did he become Flash in RF's 'original' timeline if he didnt' go back and create him? And why is Flash that far into the future with him in the first place? In 'that' Universe does he go to the future instead of the past to stop RF from ever going back in time to kill his Mother? How does he know how to tap into the Speed Force to time travel unless RF teaches him how to?

Kinda like Skynet sending the Terminator back. If the terminator succeeded in its mission, there would be no reason to send the terminator back to begin with.

I don't think that Eddie killing himself and erasing Reverse Flash changes the past. You can't change the past because it already happened, only the future, so Eddie can only change what's going to happen in the future, which explains why Reverse Flash disappears, right? If you can change the past by doing something in the present, then time traveling wouldn't be necessary.

Exactly, Evilface! That's why time travel movies and stories are so tricky! It's inevitable to fall into a paradox.Clown Prince: RF goes back to the past when he's in the future, so if Eddie is changing the future, he's changing the point in the future when RF decides to travel back in time. But it's even more severe than that because RF never exists! RF of the past only exists because he was born in the future, so if you get rid of future RF, you get rid of past RF! Whew!
Really the only way time travel stuff works is if the character exists outside of time, like Dr. Who (I'm guessing--my knowledge of the good doctor is rudimentary).

Well here is my thing, and it's been something on my mine since they said that one shouldn't write off Eddie just yet.
Apparently, there was a reason why Eddie was left alone and his body went into the singularity. I suspect that Eddie survives, or is somehow brought back. If a more advance civilization (hell if in the Old days with Lazarus pits could bring back people, why couldn't science and tech?) helped Eddie, I'd think it would still bring about Eobard in some point. What I mean is that we never got any other info about Eddie, except that he never got Iris. That's it, and they kind of make it seem like even Eobard didn't know much, except he seemed worthless. Which means that this is an alternate timeline to what could happen. A possibiltiy per se. I mean Flash tells Flash not to save his mom, that means that at some point the Flash still had to go back in time, either he saves his mom, or he goes back and stops Thawne. RF and Flash coexist -- there is just no way one can survive and exist without the other at some point. RF creates Flash, Flash does his superhero thing, and Thawne in the future is obsessed, and becomes RF. He goes back in time and etc etc etc.
It is difficult really, wonder how they will go about it.
