Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Just added a LOTR section and a whole lot of content on my site, just letting you guys know. Also will be posting a big painting update soon, been really busy lately...:rock

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Here are some in work shots of some current work... And Supes right before he got his first coat. Also the Gollum is on the first coat here, just a basic cover up tone... not the finished product or even close...:lol

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Always great to see your repaint Josh. Keep us updated :)

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Josh, I'm sure he'll look great when you're done, but I'm curious, what prompted you to repaint Boromir?

:lol

Just so he would fit in with the rest. And I wanted the beard to be thinner and the eyes to not look so blank. It's a sickness....:lol

Well Like I said, I'm sure he'll look great when you're done. As for Faramir, doesn't it feel so good when you throw that first flesh coat on and unveil the nice sculpt :)

It really does!! It's immediately recognizable as soon as the paint goes on. Insane.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

It helps having the hair off too, there's no good way to accomplish the style of hair many of the men had in LOTR, and the way Sideshow does it works nice I think, but at times I think it distorts the size/shape of the face, so when you take off Faramir's hair, it helps him look thinner too, which is key.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I can't wait to see what you do with it Josh! One of the things that impresses me most about the sculpt is the hair. I was dreading how they would pull it off, but they did a beautiful job--I can't say enough good things about that sculpt. It's a lot better when it's lighter, too. Faramir was a redhead, not blond nor brunette. It's really key to his look that he have the fairer skin and lighter hair. I'm easgerly awaiting photos of what people do with this!

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Yep, that is him!! And he arrived in pristine, perfect condition. I'm already excited to see where he ends up when I am finished with him. :rock

Not to steal your thunder, but what clothes are you using on Reese?

I am using the Reese shirt and pants, repainted Nike's and soon to be dyed SSC Modern Connor Trench.

And I finished Boromir tonight... will post pics tomorrow... too late for it tonight.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

As promised.... Boromir pics! I'm really happy with him, love the way he turned out. I can now put him on the shelf without feeling like I'm slacking. I will probably do the Elven cloak eventually, but for now... I like him without it.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I like that Boromir Josh. Much better than Mr. Cherry Cheeks that I've got.:D

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Boromir's looking good DA, though a bit difficult to see detail what with the yellow lighting. I can't wait to repaint my Boromir.

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

I really like that Boromir!!! Looks so much better without all the red around his eyes! Also the outfit looks better than I've seenn, did you do anything to it? Seems like it hangs better or something! Love the third pic where he has this "What?!?" expression!:chew

Re: DarkArtist's Creations of DOOM!

Interesting job DarkArtist...you certainly gave him an attitude...those eyes are great.

On your photos...are the overt orange tones to them intentional? It's interesting but I'm curious how your Boromir looks under more "natural" lighting...

He looks cool though...
