Welcome back Darren. Wondered where you have been...
Be soon I get that Arnie too! :rock

Thanks Les... it's good to be able to spend some time skimming through the threads and at least posting a few things here and there. And to be working through the waiting list again finally.... feels good now things are moving again.

And yeah... Arnies are being done :)

because of some distractions last week (meetings with potential wedding photographers and stuff that I'd forgotten about... all vital when you're as fussy about style as me and jane are!!) I'm still working on the items from last week.... but still working :)

Darren, I read you are travelling to the US...if you head down South....look me up! I'm not too far off North/South Interstates I-75 and/or I-95 in Georgia. If you get that far that is....sounds like you may not. But, the invite is open. We have a guest room big enough for you both. :D

Hey, Darren, you still planning on tightening up the Legolas outfit?

Thanks Les, it'd be great to meet up finally and have a look at your work in person. As it stands though we're not going through Georgia.... we were initially, but the route we had was over 10,000 miles and we couldnt do it in the three weeks we've got. So it got reworked and we'll be (at the time of writing... all things are changeable if we find interesting places we want to see down there) missing off the South East.

You can see the current route at the website I've just finished for it (we're getting people, instead of giving us wedding gifts - which we don't need 'cause we've been together 12 years and have everything already to give towards the honeymoon fund. This trip we've been fantasizing about for 12 years... and now it might actually happen)

Hey, Darren, you still planning on tightening up the Legolas outfit?

I'm looking at it. Because of the way the sleeves are sewn and cut, and the fact that you need some play for the figure to move, there's only so much you can do with it.

The best way I've found to do it is to pull it tight around his front, and hide the folds at the back under his arrow holder. I havent glued or stitched mine yet, but I might look into that. Without making a totally new outfit this is a good way of doing it... and looks good next to the bulk of Aragorn. helps keep him looking thinner.

uh oh... I can see this taking over :rotfl

Well if I'm coming through your city I can't really NOT meet up somewhere for a coffee at least. I'm not sure we're gonna have much time for more than that.... but that in theory could be possible

oh, and the Legolas head have arrived. I wasn't happy with the quality of the ones I was making myself (difficult shape to cast well) so I sent my resculpt away to america to be done properly. The box turned up not long ago.

I'm sending out messages now to anyone who was on the wait list for an unpainted one, they can go out straight away once paid for..... painted ones will be slot into my schedule with my other pieces. :chew

Sounds like a fantastic roadtrip you have planned Darren . . its one hell of an adventure and something you'l never forget.

Email sent bud.

Just sent you my money for this. Can't wait:chew

Great news Darren! Love the site as well. Even though you guys are not coming through Florida, I will send you my love and perhaps a small donation to help move you along. :rock

Darren I hope you two have a great time on your trip and the website for it is nice too.

Any news on the Aragorn's? Legolas, Boromir and Faramir are getting lonely. :monkey3

Thanks about the kind words about the website guys, and yeah... if we do get enough together to make this happen, it's certainly going to be the most amazing trip either of us has ever been on (or likely will ever). We're so excited it's not true.

Speaking of which, for those of you that live in the US.... if there's anywhere that we're not planning on going to at this stage (from the map/list on my site) but you think "Darren... you have GOT to see this place/thing!" ..then tell me!

I want suggestions... you guys live there... you've seen/been to the places and know them much better than I do, so feel free to give me suggestions if I'm not already going there. Our plans/route is changeable right up to the last second. Hell, we'll probably be changing our route while we're on the road as we decide to drive off to see different things or spend more time in certain places than others.

Doug.... I'm taking the knife/screwdriver/sandpaper/paint to your Aragorn clothes over the weekend my friend. I'll have to do it in my spare (hah) time, as I'm just too busy during the week still... but I've made you wait much longer than I originally planned. So I'll get it done. Thanks for being patient :bow)

You reminded me too Doug, I'd completely forgotten about my Boromir figure... it's sat in a pile of boxes in my studio, I still need to resculpt that thing... he should be stood alongside Aragorn and Legolas :rock

The first of the Legolas heads are going this week now, as are the first couple of Terminator heads... along with some unpainted Anakin and Obi-Wan heads. 6 painted Anakins will be finished early next week. :rock things are slowly starting to move again.

Thanks Darren!

As to your trip my wife and I lived outside of DC for about two years and there's a lot of stuff to do and see there. There's down town DC itself which could fill days of site seeing and if you like nature/greenery the greoge washington parkway has some beautiful areas. me one of my favorite places to visit when we lived there was gettysburg. it's about 45 minutes or so north west of DC but if you get the time it is really awe inspiring when you go out there and see the place and what happened there. It's a pretty area and drive too. other than that and downtown dc we used to go to the mountains a lot.

I have yet to leave the east coast (we're saving up for that) so i can't say whether one place is better than another but I know I like going there.

Well, Darren... I'd say if you are going into California at the end of it.. You should definitely go to Sequoia National Park. I went there while I was in the Navy and it was one of the most awesome experiences of my life. Just seeing nature at that level with trees older than our civilization was humbling and awe inspiring. Something I think everyone should experience once in their lives if they can... :duff

I just wanted to say thanks to Darren for the great Anakin resculpt. I don't know if he has any more available, but I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants the best possible incarnation of the figure. My photo isn't the greatest, but I have the figure on my desk, and it's so life-like it's scary.

When I get a chance, I'll be painting his Arnold as well.
