MaulFan, you have a lot of great shots here and in the other threads. Rather than continue repeating myself in all of them, I’ll make generalized comments in this thread.

A lot of your pictures are very well integrated and lifelike. Your longer experience in photography, your lighting skills, and the quality of your camera equipment really shines through.

The Sith Infiltrator sequence is stellar as is the Sidious/Maul hologram shot. In the Kenobi thread, I love your Jedi Temple security room shots, and that pic of SSC Kenobi sitting in the Jedi Interceptor…absolutely amazing!!

But I guess I'll be the first to point this out. While a good number of your shots look fantastic, there are also more than a few shots where the SSC figure stands out worse than a sore thumb.

Some examples:

The first shot with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan…Qui-Gon looks out of place. Also the shot of Qui-Gon and Maul right after Maul lands from his speeder flip.

For Obi-Wan, many of the “Obi-Wan confronts Padme”…it looks like a well-lit and photographed toy was haphazardly dropped into a movie still.

My advice for what it’s worth…

It seems as though you need to improve your integration of the figures into existing shots when one or both of two things are present: brighter/washed-out lighting in the original shot and/or other humans in the original shot. As of right now, it’s a matter of the source material is a lower quality than your photographs, but that makes your pics stand out in a negative way.

I read your comments in the Mace thread where you implied that you do all of your work on the original photograph such as matching lighting, poses, etc. and then superimpose the figure into the shot. My suggestion would be to continue doing that, but then spend more time on the figure after you superimpose it. Maybe adjust some levels (saturation, contrast, etc.)

Hopefully, these critiques have been constructive and helpful enough.

Oh and BTW, very commendable that you took so much time to pose each figure frame-by-frame like this. I can only imagine how frustrating it was, and the poses in all of your compositions are top-notch!!!

Actually, I don't think it is! I think that's either a "padded" Sideshow body or a dragon body... the shoulders on mine are a bit broader than that, and the outfit doesn't look as baggy in my figure as it does on that pic.

Maulfan, your pics are fantastic! Great work!

Appreciate the comments Sith Lord. One thing that poses challenge with some Qui-Gon shots is that Sideshow botched his robe, plain and simple, I love the figure, but his robe was nearly black in the film the figure's is this faded out brown, it should have at least been as dark as Kit/Anakin/Vader, but it wasn't so that throws things off. Another issue with some of the Maul shots, is that his face is pure red and you can only do so much with saturation and things before losing that quality, to try to match the look of red paint dilluted over flesh, because a lot of shots it looked like the red wasn't to thickly applied on Ray, and after hours of it, I wouldn't want too much either if I were him. Big thing is this is all for fun, and some of my better shots were just solo works to do a good job, and with the sequences, I've gotten down to maybe not the best work, but a fuller body of work. If someone wanted to pay me to do an absolutely fantastic job at this, I could put a lot more into it.

Yeah the Luke Seth Gecko posted is mine, that's a hot toys generation life body. That was just a quick and dirty pic after putting Luke back together after switching out the body.

Hehe, well you've gone THAT far already might as well! If not for us, for yourself! It's not the first time someone has gotten a job out of posting something online that's for sure!

Kudos for spending the countless hours doing that though! I would have only managed a few and then stopped!

:::puts down darth maul figure and goes outside to play:::

edit: i just realized that i was shouting that entire post. didn't mean to! HONEST!!!!

Excuse me, but I am unable to control THE VOLUME OF MY VOICE!!! How do I tell them that due the unfreezing process, I have no inner monologue...oops, was that outloud just now.

I put Lukes had and suit on a HT body and it just seemed to tall for me. So I'll be chopping his limbs down. Funny, cause I'll be making the HT body for Anakin taller :lol

Maulfan, your work on these is amazing, I love especially love the hologram one... looks perfect! Keep it up!!!

Whats wrong with the SS body? I thought you liked it.

Luke I'm just messin with, the body is actully fine for him.

Anakin is to get rid of the problem with the arm. Great idea, but they should have made the forearm section removable and not at the bicep swivel.

how do you get anakin's glove onto another body? does it fit on pretty well or gonna have to be glued?

I plan on cutting the gauntlet above the swivel and attach it to the new arm. Prolly will do the same with the left to be able to change hands.
