Faramir, please tell us you're just being facetious when you say you can't tell the difference between the Buck and the other bodies in the high-end 1/6 market. Because, uh... there has been a world of difference. Otherwise, why else would Sideshow have gone out of their way to develop Prometheus and these other new bodies?

Honestly, I'm kind of like Cap on this one. I don't see the big deal as I'm able to get really pretty much any pose I want with the buck. I've got several medicom and a couple HT pieces and haven't been blown away by all the different poses I can get. I can get a few more than I can with the buck but nothing that makes me go OMG. With my Medicom pieces I'm always worried that I'll break the damn thing and the two HTpieces the bodies where really stiff. Same with the Takara Batman figure I got recently.

It might look something like this:

I think one of the big problems with the Buck was the limited mobility of joints... and what was odd is it would vary from figure to figure. But I've had some where the chest joint would stay in position, or the head wouldn't tilt forward. Just oddities like that, which would effect different figures.

In general I've been fine with the Buck, but other bodies tended to be consitently more reliable and poseable. Glad to see the Prometheus is on the horizon.

Yeah,++++ the buck!!

Bring on the NEW.:D

I don't think structurally there is a huge issue with the Buck. As far as where joints are and such, it has a pretty good range.

The biggest issue I find with the Buck compared to HT and Medicom is the looseness of the parts. Medi and HT are nice and stiff when you pose them, which, while it takes more work to set up a pose, assures you more that the figure will hold the pose. Some of my Sideshow figures hold poses I put them in very well, but others not so much, particularly figures with shoes intead of boots, I've got 3 of them and they all have floppy feet that can't hold the figure up without a stand. Also, like GB said, there is an inconsistency of issues too like some will have loose wrists, then another figure with what ought to be the same body has another set of issues. My hope with Prometheus, more than the articulation, is that the firmness and stability of the components is more along the lines of HT and Medicom than the Buck.

I use stands for all my figures. HT and Medicom stands suck IMO. Makes it a real pain to set them up.

HT's waist piece can be helpful sometimes. If I have a figure on a stand, I like to make the stand as invisible as possible, which usually means tucking it under a robe or jacket and depending on what the figure is wearing, that can make it puff out with the Sideshow ring, but the HT not having the extension is great and lets the clothes hang tight to the body.

Yeah, I hide the ring whenever possible on my SS stands. I use their stands on all my figures. I tried to use the HT stands on Jack and Swann but they both broke when trying to set them up.

I still use the Sideshow stands, I just take the metal part from the HT stands, though all my Rambo's use their HT stands but with Sideshow rings. My stands don't believe in monogamy :lol

stands are a must for me just so figures dont fall if a shelf gets nudged or something. i love the SS stand. the hot toys, not so much. but i agree with maul fan saying he likes to hide the stand as much as possible. i do the same thing but the way the ss ring sticks out in the back can look a bit odd if its under a jacket or robe or something.

Exactly why I steal an HT ring if one is available, solves the issue.

On some yeah there is a puffy issue but on most of the Jedi it isn't much of an issue or a figure like the Tak Batman it doesnt cause one with it.

No on those, it actually lends to flaring out the costume, but say on Bespin Han, it puffs the jacket out.

On all my figures using the Sideshow stands, I place the ring portion pointing towards the back (opposite side of figure) and simply pose my figures with a very slight lean towards the back as well. They get the support of the stand but that horrible ring is not ruining the figure's asthetics.

I've also noticed that one many of the figures, after some time in the same pose, the soles of the shoes end up sticking somewhat to the base (chemicl reaction?), so that also helps to keep the shelf-diving to a minimum... ;)
