For this money I could get another 1:1 accurate Stormtrooper on mannequin

How much does something like that cost? It's always been my dream to have a full size Stormie "guarding" my office but I've never been impressed with the "official" ones to come out fully assembled already.

I want to know, how many of you guys have a 1:2 already? Its a question I ask because, there are a few who know what it is to have on display a few 1:2 already.
You will be surprised, there are many of us who collect the 1:2 line and this is a great announcement by another collectable company. There is a market out there for these $2K prized statues and yes its not for everybody.

I got to tell ya, nothing like having a huge 1:2. Its like they get all the attention, no matter how nice that 1/5 or 1/5 scale may be the wow factor is unbeatable.

Patiently waiting for more upcoming 1:2

I've got the Iron Man 1:2, and it is awesome! It definitely is a centerpiece to my collection. I too am a big fan of the 1:2 scale, and I can't wait to see what else they've got planned.

This piece looks great IMO. I do think like others have said that for the price (which I think is a lot but slightly reasonable for me at least) the lightsabers should be chromed out and not just silver paint as well as more in scale as it has been already said, they look a bit too big.

If i can, I would like to get the Obi-Wan but Maul is a pass

Wasn't there a post somewhere that SS is working on slimming down the lightsaber (and possibly the boots) before production? As for the color, I think that a painted silver is more accurate than chrome. Anybody have a MR Maul or know for sure?

It all depends on what you seek. I'd recommend to go to FISD 501st forum or RPF forum and see the offer at first hand sonce members are selling stuff all the time. There are armors going from $500 to $1500, depending on manufacturer, on what is included in the set, if kit or finished etc. I'd say stay away from licensed ones for now, Rubies armor is simply crap. Fan made like ATA, AP, RT, SDS, SiMan, TM, TE/TE2 etc. are the ones you want to get. Even the older FX if you are not an accuracy freak, since even that is miles better than Rubies and many 501st use it still. And once you have it all geared up on a mannequin it will be the centerpiece of your collection

a set of Stormtrooper armor is something I'd like to have one day. At some point I really need to take the time to educate myself on what is what.

$1500 is a lot, but again seems like a decent price compared to something like Maul for 2K.

Either way, being a collector of 1:1 pieces myself, this Darth Maul has no real hard parts like a stormtrooper does, and still you could get a VERY NICE 1:1 storm trooper for the cost of this Maul, and even less money depending on how crazy you wanna be about accuracy. the trooper I used to have was about half this price and it was 100% complete wearable 1:1 replica.

A 1:1 Maul would be close to the same price breakdown too. This is why I think material costs etc aside, It is my personal opinion that SSC is gouging these prices sufficiently.

If guys can make LIFE-SIZE parts for a full size figure out of their garages of equal or better quality for roughly the same overall price, what does that tell you about SSC??

So how much of that cost is going to licensing for said piece? What is that guy paying for R&D, the factory cost, shipping, warehousing, etc?

While I'm not necessarily defending the 2K price tag, I'm assuming there is a lot of cost going into these, many of which are not going to be associated with what one person would do on their own.

They are mass producing something on a larger scale with added costs and scheduled timetables that someone in their garage isn't? :dunno

I do think this is beyond overpriced for what it is whether it looks spectacular or not, but to parallel it to someone working in their garage is a little bit of hyperbole. Someone in their garage is working on their own timetable, making one with as much TLC as they see fit. Whereas SSC is making hundreds if not thousands by a timetable set at ordering that also includes paying for a factory and all the added costs with that.

I'll say this for folks who are leaping all in, SSC better come correct with these, can you imagine if the lightsabers don't light up all the way like the recent PFs? Or the paints are shotty like...recent PFs? Or...well you get the idea.

Exactly. You can also wear the Stormtrooper armor if you want to. BTW a nice thread regarding armors and such: https://forum.rebelscum.com/t1073453/

I'm sure that if a lightsaber is defective, they will replace it. I had that problem (not lighting up all the way) on the lightsaber that came with the Mech Legs Maul PF, and had to get it replaced. Twice. But the third saber works like a charm. I think what we should be worried about is not so much IF it lights up all the way (since Sideshow will replace it), but rather the longevity of this new type of saber.

I humbly disagree. SSC has a policy of replace twice then refund. You got lucky that on the third it worked but some aren't. Also internationally they would have to figure out whether to smash the hand only and send that or if it's built solidly connected to the arm, smash that. Can you imagine SSC wanting to really send things internationally multiple times to see if they get one right? On these larger pieces I would imagine they'll jump to refund more than replace because of cost associated with it.

The logistics on items this big are completely different than something in 1:4 scale but the problem is that the same issues can occur in 1:2 as it does in 1:4.

So is anyone from the board buying this or any of the others that are already available? Honestly I have no room for this and the price point definately makes me feel fine to pass. I suppose if they made an Indy or Han Solo I'd have to reconsider. I think higher end PF's/Maquettes like Optimus Prime helped SSC's realize collectors will pay over 1,000 for a 1/4 scale Prime, so why not 2,000 for a 1/2 scale Maul, Iron Man, etc.

Hmmm...that's a good point. I've never had to worry about international shipping on Sideshow stuff, since I live in Los Angeles. With the fragility of the Mech Maul saber to go on, I'm guessing that the hand+saber will be a separate attachment on this one as well.

Its possible from what ive seen, the iron man LSF is still available and that was quite some time ago...

Well then maybe not all hope it lost. After I pay off my Maul 1:1 bust, I can see what I can do to work towards one of these, maybe one day, but I am not holding my breath,

The problem comes in that the longer you wait the less of a "deal" you can get for it. Eventually SSC becomes your only outlet to pay full MSRP and their shipping. So, while there is hope to wait it comes at a price.

Offcourse.
2 times in height
2 times in length
2 times in width

You can fit 8 1/2 scale figures in one full size.

Have you seen one of these in person? :lol There's no way 8 of these makes up one person unless your 7ft and 300lbs.

He also looks a bit short-legged...

...just saying.

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

Wow, ppl would spend 2k on this? It looks like they hid a midget in these so when your at work, they break out and steal all your ____.

yea, but bbts has had the IM for a long ass time and I've seen 2 or 3 clearance prices pop up on it. I think once I saw a new IM being offered through them for 1500, that's quite a discount, and you factor in no Ca sales tax. That's a great deal if your looking for one.

I dont like the idea of 1:2 scale. Its going to take too much room, and look silly as a Mini-Maul. If more figures come, I think it will look odd having a bunch of 1:2 figures together.

I honestly believe that the we should at least have saw this level of detail in the quarter scale line. Sucks we have to pay $2,000 and sacrifice all that space these behemoths require to get that level of detail. Now I'm all for the big pieces but I'm just saying.

This goes back years ago when I said that this is the reason why sideshow and every other corporation purposely lowers the level of detail on there products so that it will give customers a reason to come back and buy the upgraded product in a different scale or what have you. Because I for one of many would not buy into this Legendary line if Sidshow would have but that "legendary" into there 1/4 scale line. I'm sure they would have charged a couple hundred more, but still. I take that back, I'd buy one, maybe..

They got us by the balls!
