I'm not sure black was the best choice for the photos, it makes him look a bit chubby. Wish we had more details on the size as well.

after seeing this.. and after the 2K... it's an easy pass.

still awesome.. just not for me.

the regular edition Darth Maul P.F. was $280 ($300 for the exclusive). 4 or 5 years later they are charging $2,000 for something 2x the size right?

ummm. No thanks.

See the thing is the MR Falcon and AT-AT are not the universally regarded pinnacles of OT SW collecting. Who can really say what the definitive OT piece is? A Vader statue? Which one, and which outfit, ANH, TESB, or ROTJ reveal? The Falcon, an X-Wing, AT-AT, R2-D2, C-3PO, Stormtrooper, Luke? How do you pick the ONE collectible from the OT? It'll be different for almost everyone.

With the PT, this. Maul. Is. It. The end. No more universally loved or iconic character out of the entire trilogy. One character, one outfit, Darth Maul. And this is without question the grail representation of the character, and thus the trilogy.

I *really* want there to be a reason to buy this, but if its an open ES that'll just kill it.

:lecture Very well put good sir.

Yes they are.

Who can really say what the definitive OT piece is?

I can, it's MR falcon and at-at.

Darth maul is so far down the list, i dont even think it's considered a grail. This can be easily verified looking at the PF version, most are going below retail...

that's why I won't pay that much for these, just a Predator or Predator 2, but that's it. They already established a $300 price tag for a 1/4 pf piece, so how do they justify 6X that price for a 1/2 pf? I think it's obvious SS is trying to run CM out of business and they are only tailoring to that consumer base. If your a CM buyer, and you can get a 1/2 piece for the same price as a 1/3 piece, who you gonna go with?

Bigger isnt always better, I like mine to be 1/4 scale <30" max. Once it gets too big it loses that intricate wow-factor.

Anyway just went to the CM website and saw below, **** soooo tempted it if i didnt just got the optimus prime. I think CM makes far higher quality pieces than SS. Every piece they make is almost always perfect, where as SS the artist proof looks awesome, then when you actually get the chinese factory version, paint problems everywhere..

So nice!!!!!!!!!! https://www.cinemaquette.com/cgi-bin/cinemaquette/darthvader.html?id=IjgshZes

The pinnacle of a Star Wars collection I would think would be something screen used or at least at minimum something like the eFX pieces that are molded from it. $2K for me is overpriced by double but realistically it was expected. Given that Maul is poly and cloth it has me fearing that an LSF Vader or Boba will cost $3500.

:lol @SS for the ridiculous price. I hope for their sake they don't build too many in advance. I saw the comment on the IM 1:2. Those were different times and there was only what, 2 1:2 scale statues (IM and T-800) ??? So it was kind of a "new" factor with iconic characters (which can still be had on the SS site by the way). Now they've dedicated a whole line to these LSF, so people will pick and choose what they want and wait for specific, very important characters, IF they even sell. Only a select few people will collect some of these, especially in this economy.

Seeing that this is 2k and I am not a huge star wars fan it is an easy pass for me but as for the upcoming LSF wolf predator I don't know if I can resist.

Yes they are.

Obviously, with the price tag, Sideshow is not going after the average collector. I'm sure there are collectors who already have both the MR Falcon and AT-AT, people who will drop a couple thousand dollars on a single item. That seems to be the market for something like this, and I must assume that Sideshow feels they will make more from one big expensive item rather than a bunch of smaller ones.

I want to know, how many of you guys have a 1:2 already? Its a question I ask because, there are a few who know what it is to have on display a few 1:2 already.
You will be surprised, there are many of us who collect the 1:2 line and this is a great announcement by another collectable company. There is a market out there for these $2K prized statues and yes its not for everybody.

I got to tell ya, nothing like having a huge 1:2. Its like they get all the attention, no matter how nice that 1/5 or 1/5 scale may be the wow factor is unbeatable.

Patiently waiting for more upcoming 1:2

$2K seems a little hefty for something we don't know the ES of. It's it's open ES it will be way cheaper down the line.

For the prospective buyers, I hope it's not as hollow and thin casted as the IM 1:2.

To buy a statue with this price range it needs to be perfect. But this Maul is not perfect. Wrong face, that's not Ray Park (look at the lower jaw and the lips), Lightsaber out of scale, Horns color is wrong, no red where the horns begin, Wrong tattoo on the bottom lip.

Definite easy pass. Stay with my 1:4 scale.

that would be me! I prefer my collection to have a few high end collectibles that blur the line between art and hobby. I also collect paintings, vases, bronze sculpts, historical weapons.

that being said, I was dissapointed to see these at SDCC. I thought they lookd more like hobbits than anything. My initial thought was WTF scale is this. The detail is immaculate on outfits but the character look short and wide. I also had some beef with the size the lightsabers on maul and kenobi. they look exceptionally large. Kind of life the cheap toy sabers you buy at Toys R Us. For 2k, the sabers should be on par with the MR mini's that were done. Hence, I will pass.

lol at $2000 for that.
So around $300 for Premium Formats ...and if you double the size its 6 times the price.

A 1/2nd scale statue is not double the size of a 1/4th scale statue.
It's 8 times the size ...

If you only double, you calculated in one dimension, but these are 3 dimensional pieces, so you have to calculate in 3 dimensions.
Double the height, double the width and double the length.

So $2.000 doesn't sound that unreasonable ...

These statements aren't even wrong.

So an average person is 8 times the size of a half scale figure? :dunno :lol :peace
