This piece looks great IMO. I do think like others have said that for the price (which I think is a lot but slightly reasonable for me at least) the lightsabers should be chromed out and not just silver paint as well as more in scale as it has been already said, they look a bit too big.

If i can, I would like to get the Obi-Wan but Maul is a pass

Is it me or does Darth Maul's saber look really out of scale. He can't even get a full grip around the saber. Obi-wan's saber looked more in scale. I remember thinking this when I saw these two at comic con.

I don't get why most of you are surprised that Maul or any of the other 1:2 scale LSF would be less than $2k. It was assumed that it would be in that neighborhood since Sideshow has already released Iron Man 1:2 scale (which was $2k)...Yeah, IM has light-up features, but Maul does as well and the most expensive piece the LFL/SW logo...

I think that most of you might be upset since these are characters we like/love and it is pass most of our budgets. Its frankly for those that have money or just silly with their credit cards.

Anyways, congrats to those who can afford him and I'm sure this will be an awesome addition to any collection...For me I can't swing it, but if I had $2k laying around it would go to other 'grails' that I need in my collection.

Not to worry if it's open ES like IM we have loads of time to save for him so no rush, plus you can score a great deal down the line probably much lower than retail.

Personally, having just watched Phantom Menace with the kiddies, this pose is HARDLY legendary. the crouched pose with the lightsaber extended is MUCH more iconic.

What is with the MASSIVE lightsaber...WAY out of scale...looks like the wrong end of a Baseball bat.

Easy pass...

so, it's $2k after all. Not a big surprise. SSC will sell plenty of these even at 2k..

I wonder how far apart they will be spacing these things out with that kind of price tag. Like Fuzzy says if these things have an open ES they will be easy to come by later on down the road and most likely for less.

1299.99-1399.99 would have sold me. I think everyone was figuring over 1,000.

I was praying for this !

I got it from Alter Ego Comics when it went up for preorder, and it was about $300 less than retail (15% off) with free shipping.

Not bad.

I will just mourn in a corner and hope one day to own one.

Being open editions, does that mean I can get one ... say... two years from now ?

Its possible from what ive seen, the iron man LSF is still available and that was quite some time ago...

Well then maybe not all hope it lost. After I pay off my Maul 1:1 bust, I can see what I can do to work towards one of these, maybe one day, but I am not holding my breath,

For this money I could get another 1:1 accurate Stormtrooper on mannequin, or a Royal Guard, or Scout, or even a 1:1 Darth Vader if add a bit more $ to make him very accurate. No way a scaled statue worth this much IMO (this is not Rodin LOL). That is why I passed on the Cinemaquette line, way overpriced for 1:3, and I passed even on the 1:2 Endoskeleton. This one is 1:2, but still $2000 is a lot for a non 1:1 collectible. And when people visit a collection room, scaled items no matter how good they look, they are always less impressive than life-size. Always.

Also with Star Wars collecting you need to see what you want. If you collect Studio Scale, then Falcon or AT-AT might be indeed among the pinnacles of OT, together with the already produced X-Wing, and the soon (hopefully) to be produced TIE Fighter. If you collect props, then you can consider a few iconic sabers like Luke's or the Stormtrooper blaster. Also in helmet collecting you can't go wrong with most of the Imperials or Rebel pilots. It is always about what you collect and what you like to have.

I have the MR AT-AT and it is in my top 5 collectibles. It is so iconic that when displayed well people will look at it among all the other items in the collection. Maul is indeed an important PT character which IMO was killed too early and who was replaced by stupid coughing Grievous and by ol' Dooku. He had potential and Lucas killed him like he did with many things.

Will this statue become a grail like the MR Falcon or AT-AT? Hard to say. The prices for the studio scale replicas were not so high to begin with (or you could also find them for much lower, even Falcon for $800 a couple years ago). The studio scales are also made from original molds, which in SW collecting (and not only) is quite important. The SS 1:1 Maul bust which seem to go for big price also had lower retail price.

So the question remains: will this statue become a grail considering its price? We'll see...

I do not agree.
I do not like life-size pieces, I prefer a scaled statue above a life-size statue. Always.

Except for busts ... there I prefer a Life-Size ...

You might not, but still a 1:1 is more impressive than a 1:2, the same way a 1:2 is more impressive than 1:4 etc.

A life-size item is not always a simple statue. When talking about Star Wars, since this is the SW section, then you have a mixed media, in a way like an upgraded PF: mannequin (even poseable), clothes, armor, helmets, weapons, greeblies etc. Just look at some life-size collections like Gino's or others posted here, and see what a 1:1 SW collection means.

If I have to choose between a 1:1 Maul and a 1:2 one (at the same price, since it seems they'd go for similar prices anyway), guess which is my (and maybe many others) choice... Of course it also depends on what display space you have, but even so, if I have the money for this then I'd find a place for it too.
