I agree completely :exactly:

I own original art too and for this price SS is moving into a higher "art" bracket. I tend to fall into that bracket but I am not convinced SS QC is ready to handle this type of project. 2K needs to be unique, rare. Needs an artist name, needs a story. Made in China does not appeal to me.

Comparison: I buy a CS Moore bronze and I know the artist, I know the edition size, I have even toured the bronze foundry in Texas and guess what, I can shake his hand at almost any convention. That is an artist patron relationship. 2k needs a story.

This x1,000; very well said. :lecture

that's a good way of putting it. There are just so many factors that work against this LSF line for most collectors. Hard to believe how many of these things SS plans on releasing just in the next 2 years alone.

Yeah, I agree. Once in a blue moon (or really less frequently to be honest) would be okay for such a line, and not with B list characters. Sorry, Maul fans, Vader would have been a much better choice. Obi I get, Predator I get...

A release schedule similar to the bronze offerings would be about right, although even they come too quickly. Sistros and Braata were awesome!

What else was there?

Oh, give me an Alien in this line so I can cry about not affording it! :lol

Strange that Sideshow goes with Maul as the debut piece in their legendary priced line! I personally believe that if anything were to sell for that price on a new line, then Vader would be it.

one should not sprint at the beginning of the marathon... Maul establishes a nice brisk pace with room to accelerate.

Yeah, open ES and super high price tag are never a good combination for a strong line.

Despite the 'poor character decision' and high price tag I think Sideshow are heading in the right direction with this line. The detail they can inject into this piece because of the size means that the outcome will be high in quality.

I will look into this piece in the future

Whether the factories can paint correctly on the production pieces is another thing altogether.

Since this is an open ES, waiting for the first in hand pics before ordering might be a good idea. At this kind of price, it's better to be patient.

That is significant factor in why I can not find the courage to place the order right now. My rogues eyes were in different directions, Id like to think that an isolated incident but then I remember my Life Size Vader also had messed up eyes and that was at 1k.

I am in different boat entirely, i could care less about the artist or where/how it's made. As long as the statue itself is worth the $2000 price - limited edition, intricate sculpt + perfect paint apps, well constructed/material, massive details/poses/base etc..

Although sideshow has excellent sculpt i have ZERO confidence in their paint app, it's getting worse by the release. And an open edition with the statue wrapped in a bunch rag cloth just doesnt cut it for $2000. Are those guys kidding?

Tell me this, why would anyone buy this over the cinemaquette darth vader for the same price, which is order of magnitude better.

The only lsg i might consider from the current lineup that seem to worth the value is the wolf predator (and the avatar girl, but noone cares about her).

:rotfl I actually like the legacy Neytiri. When she first came out I thought the price was outrageous. I got to SDCC every year just to look at whats coming out before I drop the big cash. Of all of them she made the most sense. I figured she was taller than my PF's which would look like the movie. And she was nice and slender. I thought Maul and Kenobi looked extremely awkward. Like oompa loompas in Jedi attire. They were very tall but just so wide looking, I cant put my finger on it.

yeah although i havent seen the released version, the ap of neytiri is amazing - the skin tone/hair, amount of detail and sculpt. Also she's $1500 vs the $2000 darthmaul (head wrapped in some cloth). Too bad she's not a popular figure.

Maybe that was the whole point of the LSF line, to move more Neytiri's and Iron man 1:2 maquettes after they see the price tag of the rest........ seems to be working! : P

Why would anyone buy a $2000 1:2 Vader or Maul when you can get a really impressive 1:1 Vader or Maul for similar money?

Imagine the profit on these star wars legendary figures. I think 1000 is still asking a lot of cash. They are worth 5-600 max. There's nothing of them really in terms of complexity. Maybe there charging a ____ load for the new rubber face

Looks like this guy should be shipping May/June.... he'll be my first 1:2 scale. They Can't wait to order Obi Wan!!! Who else on the forum will be getting this guy???

I would buy it if I had the money. Then again I would buy most things if I had the money. Even things I didn't care for. But this would be the first thing!:lol
