Wow where did you find it at that price with the shipping if you don't mind me asking?
They are sold out now.

I get the initial sticker shock with it, but 1:6 collectors, if they added-up their collections, would probably find they paid far more that $2000.00 for them cumulatively. As someone posted a while back, if you want one piece with very high impact, you go for something like this (or wait for your grail character to come out and grab that) as opposed to say 8 or 10 Hot Toys Iron Men. The price is really relative to whatever else you're collecting or could be collecting.
Indeed, it is a beautiful piece.
I read back about the last 20 - 25 pages and have to say I think some people are getting a little confused comparing mass produced pop-culture totems to "art". Neither one is guaranteed to rise in value (regardless of edition size) and investing in something like this and banking on its value rising in the secondary market is folly. I do get that because of the open edition size you're pretty much guaranteeing yourself a steep loss should you have to sell but... what is anyone doing dropping $2k on a huge Darth Maul statue if their position is so precarious? Leave the money in the bank, then?

Finally went for Maul! Ordered for $1,800 shipped!
Bring on Vader next!
It's going to be different for everyone because so much of what makes me want to purchase a particular item or character is nostalgia. Since I'm into Star Wars, it would be kind of difficult to limit myself to say just one or two characters in LSF, but for those that can, I think it could definitely have more impact. A lot of it depends too on how stuff is displayed.Yeah it has a high impact....I guess you have to determine how high, being the statue is about 6 times the price of a 1/4 PF.
Is this 1/2 Maul really 6 times as impressive and 6 times the value of the 1/4 Maul by the same company ?
I remember reading that the LS line will be open editions, is that correct? Did they say if they will ever close it?
Yeah, I totally concur. I'm not concerned at all whether the stuff I buy goes up or down in value. Really I look at purchasing this stuff the same as entertainment or electronics. I expect it to depreciate over time but just enjoy having it around. As for investment it will lose value. But for collectors who want this it's a winner.
anyone rethinking this line since SS seems to be going full speed with the life size stuff?
Who said they weren't doing the intrinsic resin?? link
Yup, I was all ready to go 1:2 and even have Maul on order. I also have the 1:2 Endo.
However, I just learned that it looks like Sideshow is NOT going to do the new translucent resin. That looked so cool and is a deal breaker for me. I wanted some humans in 1:2 scale as nice as that Obi. I also expected a 1:2 Vader at SDCC which we did not get.
But, we got some BIG 1:1 surprises that look amazing. Fett, Han in Carbonite, and of course Vader. I was really impressed by them and decided I will replace the 1:2 pieces with these 1:1 pieces when they arrive. It could be over a year away to complete though.
Very excited.
Nothing official...just the rumor.
