Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Pretty much yeah! :gah:

But I didn't give my money to Sony for Girlbuster!

I'm going to Disney and Suicide Squad! :yess:

Shouldn't it be Ballbusters?

Anyway, I'm definitely less optimistic than I was about this a few months ago.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

spindrift said "People spend so much time trying to find things to dislike about a movie before seeing it" but thats not as accurate with the joker. we have already seen enough

I don't think Letoker is bad, but I've seen enough footage to see what he's doing and to compare it to how I felt about Ledger in 2007. I know I shouldn't compare them because that's pointless, but I remember being very surprised when I heard Ledger's voice in the first TDK teaser trailer with just the actors voices.

Then, watching the other trailers and seeing this character that acted and sounded unlike any other film villain or previous Joker, it was impressive...to me. His mannerisms, his laugh, and his overall look was an instant hit with me.

I don't get the same feeling from what I've seen so far from Leto, but I don't dislike it, and I like his look, except the damaged tattoo, but that was the director's idea, not Leto. I still believe he'll be fine, but I think he'll be in third ...maybe fourth place in my list of favorite Jokers. I thought he was going to be my new # 1 guy a year ago :lol

Letoker is by no means bad. He's just controversial, some people like him, some people love him and some people hate him. :banana

Yeah SS will make a montain of money and Leto Joker will be around for several more DC films...so being "better" or "favorie" Joker is a moot point..He IS the current Joker. This is just his introduction and he will have ALOT more to do in future films

Yep, this will be our 1st film Joker that will be in more than just 1 film. ...I mean unless something happens to Leto, which hopefully nothing does!

But acting is a process and an evolution, and Joker is one of the more multi dimensional characters that exists in comics. So his portrayal as Joker could definitely change & evolve over the course of the DCCU.

I'm excited for him personally, I just think his attitude is much more in line with the comics vs Ledger. That being said, I understand the people who aren't sold on him yet, but since he has multi-film deal I think he will grow on people the more material he has to perform with. Hard to have an all out performance when you're not the main character in the film I suppose. You only have a small window of time so strut your stuff.

Very good counter point.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Well, I had big hopes for this Joker and the more I see of him, the less I like him, as it stands right now, he's my least favorite movie Joker, however not to the point of disliking him, I still like him, he's just not my favorite joker or thing in this movie so far :lol

But I keep remembering Leto is a fantastic actor, so'll I'm still reserving judgment.

Wasn't it confirmed that he was gonna be in JL?

DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

and thats with 10 minutes of screen time, Imagine if he had more :lol

That doesn't bother me too much because I know this won't be the last we've seen of him but as for as acting goes, based on everything I've seen he really does seem to be doing way too much.

No worse then all the cowboy stuff Ledger got when he was cast and we all know how much his Joker is a fan favourite now. I guess Leto's limited screen time warranted his need to try and go OTT to leave a lasting impression - I guess we'll see how it turns out from a personal point of view.

But Leto was embraced as soon as he was in talks to be Joker, and some backlash is coming from what people are seeing of him in the trailers, Ledger's situation was the complete opposite.

I don't know. I loved Heath Ledger's Joker, but even without seeing Suicide Squad I can say that I like Leto's Joker more. I'm a sucker for gold chains and the whole gangsta attire so... to each his own, I guess.

I actually like Gangsta Joker too, just talking about what I've seen from Leto and he's just not really selling it to me. Ledger's Joker was extremely nuanced where as Leto looks like there's not once ounce of subtlety in his performance.

None of the clips and trailers have any fantastic acting. I never wanted to say this before but I think the role was miscast. Leto has been amazing so far but this might be his first dud.
I dont know. I was on the hype train all this time and my faith for Leto was there because of how good he usually is but it is getting to the point where i wish they had gotten someone less edgy

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Same, but other than his weird laff, I can't say his acting has been bad. A bit over the top, but it fits.

The thing is that he hasn't blown me away yet, the way Ledger or Nicholson did, nothing to do with his take on the Joker, I'm very open to it.

I dont hate Leto (Im not in the "hate" camp" i dont want to sound like I absolutely hate him, Is not hate, is just cringe, a feeling of embarrassment. maybe that will change with the movie but ever since the internet made him a cringe meme i cant Not feel cringe when I hear him

Same here. I can't add anything more to what you've said here about Leto.

It's probably the writing, not Leto...or maybe it was too soon to bring back joker.

As for the laugh, I like it...but he's doing it too much and it's a slow laugh that doesn't always fit the situation.

Is it wrong that I kind of like the Gotham show "joker"/Jerome a bit more? :chase

It was probably too soon to bring back the Joker, but we know this universe isn't for timely or properly built up comicbook moments, ****'s just gonna happen.

You like Jerome more? :lol and you were one of the biggest Letoker supporters from the beginning. I don't mind him personally.

I was re-watching some Arkham Origins cutscenes, and man, this Joker would've been great.

Ignore the Hamill day-caring voice of Troy Baker, but the writing and that dive into Joker's psyche is really well executed, it's such an event for the Joker to meet Batman, and the fact that it's superimposed with Harley's "love at first sight" reaction is just brilliant.
