Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

It was probably too soon to bring back the Joker, but we know this universe isn't for timely or properly built up comicbook moments, ****'s just gonna happen.

You like Jerome more? :lol and you were one of the biggest Letoker supporters from the beginning. I don't mind him personally.

I was re-watching some Arkham Origins cutscenes, and man, this Joker would've been great.

Ignore the Hamill day-caring voice of Troy Baker, but the writing and that dive into Joker's psyche is really well executed, it's such an event for the Joker to meet Batman, and the fact that it's superimposed with Harley's "love at first sight" reaction is just brilliant.

I thought Troy Baker did a great job, and I don't know who voiced the Batman in that game, but to me he gave the best performance of all the Arkham games.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Yeah that was really well done. I didn't play the game, but I saw all the cut scenes like a film, and I really enjoyed it.

I'd like to see Battfleck meeting Joker for the first time in the DcEU while they are still young enough to do a flashback sequence or prequel, but at the same time there's so much they can do with Batman and so many other characters besides Joker they focus on, that I understand if they avoid prequels or focusing on the past.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I'd be okay with Joker in the past if he wasn't "damaged" and still had his teeth.

I thought Baker's performance was serviceable, the writing was the protagonist there, and I think Roger C.S. gave a perfect performance for that Batman, since he's younger and his emotions aren't fully controlled.

Story-wise, I think Origins is the best in the franchise, it dives into the characters in a way none of the Rocksteady games do, but alas, being so technically unpolished stole all the credit the fans could've given it.

Well, it's said the Batman movie is before BvS and it takes place it Arkham.

Who knows how long before BvS.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

But Leto was embraced as soon as he was in talks to be Joker, and some backlash is coming from what people are seeing of him in the trailers, Ledger's situation was the complete opposite.

Performance wise I don't think we can get a true opinion until you see it within context in the movie. All the OTT clips are out there simply to market Leto. I get the appearence concerns though, especially the tattoos. :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

the studio shows clips and trailers for people to judge before buying. if the joker was meant to be secret and only be seen while watching the movie then they did a bad job at it with the promos.

Doesn't mean you have to look at every single pic, watch every single clip or read every single article. You're going to be sick of anything doing that.

Never understood why someone want to spoil every single part of a movie.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I agree with crows there.

Sure you don't have to watch them. But the fact is that the studios puts that stuff out there to create expectations, you don't necessarily have to be sick of it, I don't think crows is "sick of it" because of how much he likes this Joker...

The studio puts all of this out there in the hopes of catching outliers. You don't read movie magazines? Here's a trailer especially for NBA games. You didn't catch this other trailer in theaters? Here's a different trailer they think will appeal more to CSI fans.

They throw a ton against the wall, hoping little bits will stick with lots of random people. We're in a different situation, in that we're funneling it all towards us. You can't drink from a beer bong and then claim you couldn't appreciate the different notes of malts and hops, or that you got drunk too fast.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

You make a good point, but we're not drinking everything spiraled together at the same time, a beer tasting would be a more appropriate analogy.

In that we're taking little zips of samples at a time, as stuff comes out, with time to taste and palate, we're also not blind, we can tell they highlight one aspect of the movie depending on this target audience, that other aspect depending on that other target audience.

If people get sick of stuff with little samples, sure, it could be because this person is filling a beer bong with free samples, then that's entirely their fault, but that isn't really what we're doing.

I got sick of the Deadpool marketing campaign and I avoided most of it, and it was an accurate representation of what the movie was.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

There are some generic tracks on there, that's true but horrible is a bit harsh, don't you think?

- Task Force X
- Arkham Asylum
- You Make My Teeth Hurt
- That's How I cut and Run
- Harley and Joker
- The Squad

are really good Comic Book movie scores.

The first 15 seconds of 'Task Force X' have a Pirates of the Caribbean vibe &
'The Squad' has a little Avengers vibe.

Nah, compared to the Zimmer MOS and BVS scores it's an incredible backstep. Incredibly generic, you mention avengers, well that's the problem, it sounds like the insta-forget Marvel scores. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with it, just that it's dull and uninspired.
I expected something really exciting for this. It demands a cool Junkie XL or modern music hybrid. Tron legacy, Oblivion, Mad Max, Stranger Things...even BVS?

In fact listening to it makes me think they are misleading us with their trailers so far.
It is tonally not what I was expecting from the movie.

I agree Rorywan. The music used in the trailers and on the album don't seem to mix very well with this score. + Not many composers can make scores on Zimmer's level, that's true but it doesn't mean this score is bad; maybe more generic as you said.

BTW, rumour debunked: Joker isn't Jason officially stated by the director.

When is that Skrillex & Rick Ross - Purple Lamborghini video supposed to drop? It was supposed to be released ages ago.

Agreed. It's a shame WB decided not to remaster it.

Origins can go **** itself. With its glitchy bull**** and multiplayer trophies.
