I see that ROTS gif and all I hear is a sped-up version of Duel of the Fates playing in an endless loop of insanity.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

One of the big differences here is I believe the story goes that Favreau was told to fix it and created something that worked, not fantastic with the quick final battle but still a fun and awesome film. With WB the executives are saying "We'll help you fix it," and it has been showing that people who aren't filmmakers are having too much say in how to pull together a film.

Most reviews have called him "fine" and said that he could have been left out of the film altogether, that's its more of a glorified cameo so I don't think this will make or break Leto's time as the Clown Prince.

He wants to be, he has been actively campaigning for it.

The comic books don't even know what is classic anymore as the latest retcon has THREE Jokers running around splitting up a rich history of a character into shards. Who knows where it'd go at this point too.

I don't know if the DCEU can really survive yet another. Remember Green Lantern was supposed launch this initially and that flopped and so they wen't back to the drawing board. MoS was really split amongst fans and critics and they decided to press on. BvS was a fumble despite people really loving it and SS seems to be more of the same. With WW and JL already starting the hype train, a reboot now would be an enormous embarrassment to the brand. The WB executives are already trying to play catch up to Marvel's 10 year headstart could you imagine suddenly scratching everything even after Justice League and then starting again with Marvel in Phase Four? The filmmakers wouldn't be able to do anything without them (WB Execs) micromanaging everything.

The DCEU's best bet would have to be to make sure the sequels which undoubtedly will still happen and the ones coming up be in the tone they want from the get-go and avoid this eleventh hour stitching together yet again.

How could they even reboot this? ANOTHER superman origin?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I think they need to hire us to rewrite the whole story / universe. :lol
Ooh ooh! I pick Supes! I have a great pitch!

Not quite Silver Age power level, but can bench press mountains with ease and is so in control of his powers he can pick up an ant without killing it, which is already tricky enough for a human being. But potentially could start lower, no flight and tank rounds still move him.

He's a free lance reporter and will eventually be drafted by the DP.

Costume would be very simple, no over design, bright colors, big S, boot level cape, most likely with underwear.

Villain is Luthor with Metallo being his muscle.

As Clark Kent he's a geek, but low profile, occasionally saves people while being clumsy, the entirety of Smallville, or at least many people in there know who he is but they keep the secret because the town loves him, all homeless people in his apparent neighborhood know him because he always gives them change, and shares food and stuff, he's that kind of Supes.

As Superman he's very relaxed but has perfect posture, quick to smile and enjoys being Supes, but is often wondering about where he came from, which we don't find out until the 2nd movie. Avoids fights until forced, he's a protector, not a fighter, think of him as a superhuman rescue specialist.

The action doesn't come from him fighting, although there are 2 fights against Metallo, it comes mostly from him saving people in imaginative ways.

I even have a scene in mind of him at the farm, talking with Pa Kent, in full costume and then he's about to leave but Ma tells him there's rhubarb pie, so he instantly changes into his regular clothes and sets up the table (maybe a glass or a plate is still wiggling a little) to eat some pie with his parents :lol

It's a trilogy or quadrilogy deal, second movie villain could be Brainiac, Death of Superman could be done by Doomsday in a JL movie or in his 3rd movie in an All-Star kind of story, possibly with Mr Mxyzptlk involved.

It's gonna be great.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Get the Star Wars garbage OUT IF HERE.

Why and who, studio or director decision?

Bunch of cooks in the kitchen on this one. No idea. Doubt Ayer would shoot stuff that he intended to cut. Probably WB.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Just by reading that, I can sort of imagine how it'd turn out. Sort of like iron man meet batman begins, you get some clumsy try out moments, which really brings the audience closer to the character. None of that brief flashbacks jumping sequence we've grown accustomed to of DC movies. Feels kinda ADD for some reason.

DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Already better than a film where superman just frowns a lot and doesn't actually say anything. Just frowns and mopes. Everyone is an arsehole to him on the TV and he can only hear lois and no one else. When he went to congres I thought "finally, we get to hear him say what he's all about" but then The film just blows the building up and he's back to frowning and moping again.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

If I had to guess, I'd say studio with the director capitulating to their whims. If Ayer had mega hits under his belt he could have stood his ground, but as much as I thought Fury was an excellent movie, the WB execs in charge of the DCU probably didn't even see Fury.....

Why cut Leto out though? If he's not integral to the story why not find a way of fitting him in?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Okay I just got back from seeing the movie twice. Was it the best movie ever I was expecting it to be? Naw, not quite, but it's a ****ing great movie. I don't understand how so many people are hating it. I went to the theater optimistic and I came back satisfied. Maybe if you go in the movie already hating it, you're not gonna like it. I spoiler tagged my deeper thoughts about the movie.

Okay first of all, it's not as funny as the trailers made it out to be, it's a dark movie with some funny stuff sprinkled around.

Margot Robbie was the perfect Harley! We even got to see her in the classic jester costume for few seconds. Definitely picking up that hot toys figure if they make it. Would go well with the tuxedo Joker.

Jared Leto's Joker was ****ing amazing. I liked Heath's Joker but I absolutely ****ing love Leto's Joker. He had very little to do in this movie but that didn't actually bother me, obviously they cut a bunch of Joker & Harley scenes to not make the flashbacks drag on for too long. I liked the fact that Joker and Harley are actually in love, and Joker isn't abusive towards Harley in this movie. They seem like a gangster couple. I could talk about the Joker all night, but I really loved Joker in this film.

Will Smith was good. I don't know what to say about him, he is pretty much the main character of the movie. He had a cool hero moment when he was on top of a car shooting the creatures, while everybody else watched him take the all the remaining creatures out. I liked the story arc between Deadshot and his daughter.

Jai Courtney as Boomerang was my third favorite character in the film behind Joker and Harley. He was funny but sadly didn't really have much to do in the film but be a side character and make a few jokes. I liked the Flash cameo when Boomerang got taken in by Flash.

Batman is in the movie for like 2 minutes. Bruce Wayne is in the end credits talking to Amanda Waller and Waller gives him the files of Aquaman and Flash and Enchantress. Obviously leading up to the Justice League. Don't know why Enchantress was in the files as well, maybe leading up to Justice League Dark?

Everyone was good in the movie, although the weakest link was Cara's Enchantress in her "final" form, she was kind of over the top with her facial expressions and ****. Her brother was kind of half-assed as well but nothing worth complaining about.

The movie has some slight pacing issues, with the first like 20-30 minutes spent of introducing the characters by flashbacks as Waller talks to the military guys at the restaurant. It slows down in the second act, but I don't have a problem with the pacing at all.

I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'll post more of my thoughts if I remember something interesting.

I would give Suicide Squad 9/10. It was even better the second time. SS isn't my number 1 best movie ever I was expecting it to be but it deserves a spot on my top 10 favorite films list.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Everyone knows the Joker - only fans knew of Thanos, I had to google him back in the day. :lol

Growing up with comic from the 80-90s, infinity gauntlet / thanos was huge. Not on a joker level famous, but in terms of power he pretty much beat everyone, and is a big deal.
