Frank doesn't know that Batmans cowl is bullet proof. It's going to ricochet off and split Franks skull.

Frank wasn't always the sharpest tool in the tool box. :lol

But he does have adorable kids.......wait.

Because some people's only exposure to the character of Joker is Ledger.
While I liked this Joker, I can understand others taking issue for different reasons. I thought the biggest problem was giving him a heart. That has never been an aspect of Joker that I've known, even with respect to Harley. If he did go out of his way for her, it was due to boredom, jealousy, or a kind of childish greed really. Not because he was romantically passionate for her or whatever.

I loved his frustrated moment of realization before he went into the tank after her. It may not be Joker canon but it felt true to his character if he did develop affection for someone.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

My issue isn't with the modern take on Joker, it's with Leto's performance. He was doing way too much. I'm cool with a gangsta Joker.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I have no doubt that all the extra scenes will make it onto the blu-ray. The question is whether they're reinserted into the movie. If you've got the director publicly stating that the finished cut is the best then I tend to take them at their word. I don't think it's just him not wanting to be another whiny Josh Trank type since there are diplomatic ways to say "I like the theatrical version but if I ever get the chance I'd love to release a longer version as well." James Cameron did that with ALIENS and his wish was granted with no bad blood between him and Fox. Peter Jackson did it too and most recently Zack Snyder with BvS. But Ayers just doesn't seem to feel that way about SS.

Well the one difference is those movies (with exception of BvS) were all mega hits. Any studio would be more than happy to rake in more money by releasing a 'directors cut' edition of a proven hit. Sometimes the directors cut is better, sometimes it isn't. Case in point Alien and Alien 3. Ridley's 'director's cut' from 2003 really has only one scene added which sorta makes sense, when Parker and Ripley run after Brett and Brett's blood drips on Parker so they 'see' it or something. The whole Dallas coccooned part when she's 'last survivor mode' I thought threw the pacing of that sequence off. Ridley's theatrical cut flows better and really desn't have much taken out, which is why I slightly prefer the theatrical cut of Alien to the director's cut.

On Alien 3, most of the director's cut is good, but I didn't like them cutting out the chestburst at the end. Some say it was ok and allowed Ripley to be spared that experience, but she knew she was going to die regardless, but I think what makes that work is the way she refuses to let it go as it comes out. The Ox vs. Dog was the other main difference but overall that directors cut is better (save for the ending).

So if Ayer doesn't feel that way NOW, if the movie does decently and at least makes its production money back I'm sure WB/DC will be amenable to putting out a directors cut. I tend to agree with Crows below, he may be just playing the game now since it can go either way. I'm sure time will tell. Very few directors are EVER fully 100% happy with the cut that is released, they always wish they could tweak it somehow. Now the ones like Lucas who KEEP tweaking and changing, that gets old and I don't like 4 different versions of the movies.

i do not believe Ayer. i just dont. how many times have actors and directors and producers lied about a movie? specially right after a movie has come out

Im not even saying he is fully lying but when the longer cut comes out I can see him going "Well, the theatrical was my movie but the fans want what the fans want and you have to listen to your dedicated audience bla bla bla" lol

All i can picture :lol

Yup I agree. Right now he's saying the correct things, playing the game. Keep the receipts going to try to offset the initial backlash. Obviously WB owns all the cut footage, so even if WB said 'Ok Dave, make the ultimate cut with your footage' and if he still then didn't want to, what's to stop WB from hiring the same editing company to comprise the 'ultimate cut' with all the extra footage. One way or another we'll see it. Whether or not it's integrated into the movie will be the other question.

She could be figure no.4.

Hot Toys posted this when they released the first SS images:

It's time to get ready for the waves of Hot Toys' amazing collectible figures based on the upcoming DC's Suicide Squad!

I don't know if they only mean the Cosbabies and the 9 1/6 figures announced. Hopefully there's another wave with Katana, Croc & Cpt. Boomerang. I wouldn't mind a Rick Flag...

Plans might've changed since release, but the film might be a slow burner. It's holding in at 7/10 on IMDB at the moment.

I think it grows on you, the way GotG does. It has an infectious, quotable quality. And given time and familiarity the Letoker might also grow.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I watched the animated film Assault on Arkham last night to see how it compared to SS, and I think the animated film is better. The mission was more appropriate for the team--no fighting gods or end of the world scenario. The characters were better written and actually came across as bad guys. They nailed stuff like Deadshot's attitude, Harley's craziness and relationship with the Joker, and the clash of personalities within the team--plus every character played a part in the mission. Even the mandatory head exploding moment was done better. Plus, it had more Joker and Batman in it, both with an actual purpose instead of gratuitous cameos. Really slammed home that the live action version missed an opportunity to be a great film.

If that's the Deadshot personality you were talking about then yea....

Will Smith > Deadshot.

Nothing interesting or original I saw from Deadshot in the animated movie.

The animated movie is way better though and should've been the template for the live action movie.

The Deadshot in Arkham Asylum is how Deadshot is in the comics--which is why the Will Smith version bugged me so much. Not that he wasn't funny or anything but he wasn't Deadshot. He was just Will Smith being Will Smith.

I agree that the animated film should have been the template for the live action film. The live action DC film division has a lot to learn from their animation department.
