Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Wait, so you’re telling me that it made sense for Waller to construct her own private team of criminals just in case the next Superman is bad, and it make sense with the team she picked? Enchantress’ entire role wasn’t a plot hole? You didn’t think the fact that Enchantress decided to have a knife/karate fight with the squad at the end wasn’t on par with Doom not using his brain exploding powers on the F4? Are you really telling me characters like Diablo, Croc, Boomerang, and Katana were fleshed out? Or that turning Joker into a plot device for Harley was okay? I mean theres so many more problems with this movie, most of it is the horrible editing but there is so many problems with this movie from beginning to end.
Yup to me.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Because I was having too much fun enjoying what was on screen to care about what was cut out.

Thats what has me confused, watching the movie you can clearly see how badly he was tampered with, so many things make absolutely zero sense I don’t know how that could be ignored because Will Smith is on top of his game.

It's simple. Vintage Will Smith + cheesy jokes + DC villains + Batman cameo + cool music =

Will Smith was great, but the cheesy jokes were REALLY cheesy, the DC villains were being either butchered or wasted, Batman’s cameo also didn’t work very well, and the cool music was used on scenes that didn’t fit which actually took away from scenes they used in.

Yeah. That’ll trump sad bastard BvS Any day if the week.

See, just because I have more fun with a movie doesn’t mean I’m going to be more lenient when scoring it. This movie was a fun turd, BvS was just a bad movie. But really, boring, dark, character assassination, whatever you think of BvS its certainly a better movie than this was. I can’t see how it wasn’t, and I don’t even like BvS.

I feel like this thread is turning me into Crows :lol

I totally agree. I wouldn't give it a good score either, but it's a film that I'll probably watch whenever is on tv. It's like Commando, a piece **** that's full of flaws, cheesy dialogue, but it knows what it is and it can be entertaining. I rather watch Commando than a 3 hour Lord of the Rings film...even though LOTR is better in every single category. Sometimes you don't need great filmmaking to be entertained.

See the only thing I disagree with you on is that this movie knowing what it wanted to be, I don’t think it did since this movie seems like it turned out so bad because of all the issues behind the scenes. This isn’t like a Batman and Robin situation where the director just made a terrible film, I believe theres a whole other Suicide Squad movie out there, a darker cut, and supposedly it was screened as well. Commando is probably what the director intended it to be, SS is just a bunch of scenes poorly edited together to try and remedy the darker tone that it originally had. I basically feel like this movie should have never been released :lol

Whats crazier is that people here commending Ayer for basically lying or downplaying what really went on behind the scenes and crapping on Trank for going on social media and spilling the beans, why? I mean sure, its good for Ayer’s career to lie, but certainly not us.

EDIT: By the way, I honestly think this is top 2 worst superhero movies in the past twenty years, but I agree with you, I can watch this over BvS any day, just because its entertaining in and bad and good way. Its just crazy that people aren’t really acknowledging how much of a mess this movie really is.

I think the Ayer cut probably handles the Joker and Harley "relationship" better, but I doubt the film is much better or even different as far as the main story. How much better can it be with Enchantress as the villain? Leto said he wanted the film to be rated R, and supposedly there might be some R rated footage, but if the third act is the same, I doubt a darker tone means a better story.

I don’t think Ayer’s cut would have been good either, but I do think his cut would have flowed much better, music probably would have been utilized much better, Joker probably would have fit much better into the narrative, and supposedly other characters would have been fleshed out a little bit more, especially Croc. I still think it would have been a bad film, but it wouldn’t have been a this mess that we got.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

A lot of people have plenty of complaint about Leto, and honestly, if they took 20 minutes to watch the Harley and Ivy episode in the animated series, they'd see why he's been the best Joker. Even without those other scenes, he played the part perfectly as Joker. Especially the purring and growling he does.

We had some idiot sat behind us who was laughing everytime Harley-Joker was on screen. He just didn't get it and was being a **** about it. Obviously he's only ever known Ledger's Joker.

It was great finally seeing Harley and Joker on screen together.

What a jobber. Reminds me of when I went to see BvS. There were two guys who couldn't stop laughing whenever Batman showed up on screen during an action scene.:dunno

Yeah it was really annoying. It was EVERY Joker and EVERY Harley-Joker scene. I don't get why he was there considering the trailers already bigged the movie up as a Joker and Harley movie - why bother paying the price of a ticket to be an absolute pr**k about it?!...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Not just a good movie but a perfect 10/10, especially with regard to the editing and it just having a tight and uniform structure from beginning to end. You could totally tell that this was the story they wanted to tell from Day 1 and that nothing was left on the cutting room floor.

Ummmmm wut?
