Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

It might not help with Hot Toys' plans.

Eyeball Stan and Mr. Grin will never see the light of day. :panic:

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Can anyone solve the mystery why exactly they don't approve of it?
My guess is Enchantress.

She's a ghost/witch-like and then a god-like character, China's government bans superstitious imagery in their movies because of reasons, that's why the Gurlbusters were denied release in China too.

I don't think it's the Suicide title since they changed it for China.

That's weird. They used to like their Chinese ghost stories.

WB should have just added an extra scene of Chinese citizens watching the carnage on TV and then one of them says "I'm so glad that our benevolent and mighty government would never allow anything like that to take place here." :monkey1

Then have their fighter jets do a fly over Beijing with Jackie Chan walking on the wing.

SS breaks China box office records.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Wait wait, I should watch SS but I shouldn't watch Warcraft? :lol

Aren't both watchable movies that were cucked by the critics?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I read somewhere that the Chinese limit western films in general. So it might have been more that SS didn't do anything to make it stand out to them than it doing anything to turn them off explicitly.

Michael Bay is a master at appealing the Chinese government. He would have had their military fly in and save the day at the end.
