Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

JL2 getting postponed is really not a big deal, they haven't even finished making the 1st one yet lol.

I still think that DC will climb out of this funk.....

as soon as Snyder is working at another studio.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Got my copy today and the extended cut was nice with the added cut scenes. Still not enough joker but still the added scenes were nice. I still enjoyed this film and don't get why it did so poorly with ratings.

Absolutely! He needed more scenes! I saw the BTS footage of Joker and when he said, "some people just don't know when to die", I was like wtf?!?!? Why isn't this in the movie,!?!

So saw it twice today, so that is number 18 and 19 lol. Going to see it about 3 more times this weekend lol. I love this movie!

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I had no idea the Sirens movie is being directed by Ayer. He better not **** that up. I'm down for an SS2, and Deadshot movie could be interesting. No doubt we'd probably see Batman.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

another great line that was cut, joker getting into a black SUV being given his gold ak, pre-heli hijack. "oh this is gunna be fun"!

he really needs his own movie!

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I have a feeling you'll like it.

:lol

I enjoy Ayer's work, but I feel people have been more on attack on SS than BvS. Just hoping they give him time to work a good script and while I love the tattoos, I hope he doesn't saturate that with everyone. Diablo made sense, Harley and Joker are understandable, but no one else needs them. Sometimes less is more.

I'm just hoping we get a story closer to Assult on Arkham, with the squad hunting down Joker and Batman interupting for his own reasons. Plus, we need more Letoker. He's just too good in what little we've seen of him.

Anyways, had a blast watching all the BTS stuff, particularly the Harley/Joker featurette. Some really great lines and extended footage in there that really should have been used. They described this version of the Joker perfectly; he's being the closest to a comic book version we've got, updated the gangster look he's always had and gave his relationship with Harley a more Bonnie and Clyde feel.

and the statue is amazing quality! not my first DC piece (have BvS supes, and armored bats) but she takes the cake.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

yep and nothing seems to stick :lol

I wouldn't have imagined a Wonder Woman movie had the best shot of being their best film, but it looks like that could be the case.

Yeah it looks great with little to of action, but what is it about? I know she comes to Man's World and fights the Germans, but why, what is she here for?

you'll have to watch the movie. :lol

probably to stop the "war that ends all wars".

I like Assault on Arkham idea, but I hope they use that more with SS2. With Diablo out, hope we get some more metas and large guys like King Shark and Killer Frost.

I would like Joker to be the main bad for the Harley film for a few reasons. Leto was knocked off too early and he really was great. Ayer sold him on the SS script, I can only imagine he'd be able to sell him again for Sirens. Also, seeing as it is initially a Harley solo, Joker makes the most sense. Though his story would be interesting to try and take since Harley is now considered an anti-hero. I think one thing could be Joker taking over Arkham, maybe using Ivy against Harley. Or, and this I'd prefer, is a Death of the Family style story. This film could be very much an Ant-Man of the DCEU, fun and great, and no need to emphasize it as some grand scheme or something.

The featurette was really fun too. I won't lie, I was bummed not to see some parts like the confrontation at the Lambo, or when walks away after the Enchantress battle.

Well it was the Great War, so I can only imagine a battle of this magnitude is mind-blowing at the time.

I can only imagine that Trevor crash lands, tells her about the war, and she decides to change history and take it against the Germans.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

That's what I'm talking about. The trailer looks great but it never tells you what the story is about. The same thing with Suicide Squad. The action looked amazing but I never knew what the story was about. All I knew was that they were bad guys on a mission to do something for Waller and the Joker is in it. Not where they were going, who the enemy was or why they were doing it. I see that a lot in many trailers these days. All action no reasoning.

the confrontation at the lambo scene made it into the EC? which one you talking about bud?

And as far as the Assult on Arkham thing goes, I meant to say that' what I'd like to see in a SS sequel. :D Killer frost and mostly King Shark would be awesome addtions. King Shark is just too fun. Death in the Family is a dream flick I'd love to see, and hopefully Affleck Batman movie will touch on what exactly happened to robin. Mostly, I just wanna see Letoker and Batfleck on screen together.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I dig reading everyone's comments on the EC. I just watched it last night and it was what I expected I suppose, a few scenes were good but it wasn't enough to be mind-blowing or anything.

I'm glad they added the bit to the Arkham escape that matched the novelization where Joker seems to be saying all the shock therapy has messed him up and he's going to do the same to her. I think this is an interesting take on the character, that his brain is kinda fried and makes the part of the scene where he looks confused and asks "What?" and they add the warp effects make a little more sense so it looks like he's not entirely "there" in the head.

I wanted more interaction of the characters though. I think they didn't portray them "bad" enough. The opening scenes make you immediately sympathize with them because the main characters are being abused. Just because Waller talks about what they've done, it doesn't give enough impact to make you really think these guys are really horrible people. I think it would've strengthened the arc where we are supposed to know they are bad, then through experience and bonding we see that they have some redeeming value and can work as a team. For example, I would've liked to see the Eastwood character built up a little more and have him be taken down by the enemy and squad member blatantly refusing to help, little moments like that that really reveal who they are and far they have to go to learn to play nice.

I was hoping for more Joker and Harley scenes of course but the motorcycle surfing was kinda ridiculous, lol.

The thing that hit me the most was the repetitiveness unfortunately. For example, the guard saying the butcher dude was "killing it" and then Deadshot saying Waller's speech was "killing it." When Harkness gets out of the bag and immediately punches someone, then Slipknot gets out of the car and immediately punches someone, 3 helicopter crashes, I could go on forever, lol.

But all in all it had more "rewatchability" than I thought it would. I'm excited to check out the bonus features tonight hopefully.

The part where Joker smacks Harley, but i feel that may have been a different take on that instead of the one we got where she stops him in traffic.

Death of the Family and Flashpoint Paradox are my top 2 favorite storylines to see in the EU. Blackest Night would be epic with a huge DCEU crossover, Civil War style with Green Lantern

One thing I am bummed, and only because I read the subtitles, but it was a missed oppurtunity when Flag gets attacked in the building, and DS says "They got Flag, again", it would have been awesome if he had said, "Capture the Flag, again" :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Blackest Night would never work in the DCCU. The whole premise is bringing back a ton of dead characters. They've barely got enough characters on screen as it is, let alone enough to kill off only to bring back as zombies. I don't think we'll ever see that outside of an animated film. Maybe in the Arrowverse if they ever get GL on the show. I'd love to see it done though.

They will. And I hope Snyder sticks around and just provides assistance with visual looks and action. Lets others write and direct.....

Kinda like a 'Civil War' taking place at a airport between a handful of characters. :lol
