Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think you underestimate what will be a (more than usual) completest mentality for this line.

Take it from someone with experience; Anyone who plans on seeing any DC Comics line of toys complete itself is in for major disappointment.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

You seem to not understand the concept that companies don't price items to cater to what you think they should cost. A business has expenses they need to worry about covering and making a profit in the end at the same time. We don't know what they incur for costs when making their products or how much those costs have changed over time. Price increases are common in just about anything, I agree with you that figures are expensive but it's life, things normally go up in price over time.

You'd make a great spokesman for Mattel, you know that? We'll just wait and see if you and the others put your money where your mouth is. Four 6" plastic figures for $100 is a lot of money. That's twelve 6" plastic figures for $300. And I don't care what you, I or anyone else paid for a figure five or ten or fifteen years ago. This line is dead before it started.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think someone said in the Arkham thread we get 2 waves a yr... So thats about 8 figures a yr.. That's really not bad...

Thanks, not too bad if you don't buy all of them I guess. My focus will be on BTAS versions with the occasional TNBA. I really want to see Two Face and Freeze.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

How many Atkham figures/waves do they release per year?
The waves for Arkham Asylum and Arkham City I want to say they did a couple per year at least. I think both games had around four or five waves total plus some convention exclusives and deluxe figures.

Great, now you've got me thinking about how glorious a Matt Hagen Clayface would be.

I'm not denying costs are high but where do you think businesses make up costs they incur? They don't just have endless sources of cash that magically pay their costs. Sometimes price increases are passed on to the consumer, it's pretty basic business sense.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

So we're only getting 4 BTAS figures this year in November correct? So how much will they cost next year for the second and third waves when as you guys say, "costs go up, that's just the way it is"? And how much will they cost when wave 7 hits with Mad Hatter? The point is, they won't get to wave 7 at these prices. Did you see that pic that someone posted earlier in the thread with all the characters he'd like to see? 3/4's of that pic won't get done because you know what; there won't be enough people out there willing to pay $25 for a Mad Hatter to justify the cost of producing one. They killed the line before they started it.

And $25 retail price at Toys R Us or Wal Mart means my comic shop will sell them for $30. The line is dead. Now get to work on that custom Mad Hatter. :wink1:

Night Flight never sales toys under MSRP :lol Thankfully most places aren't like them.

They've been completing more lines now like Arkham. This will be HUGE hit. Next Arkham type line for sure.

I do perfer TAS over TNBA but I will buy em both since I missed out on the Arkham line...

DC Direct/DC Collectibles have always done pretty extensive lines that I can remember. Comic lines such as Hush and Blackest Night for example had multiple waves. Same for quite a few other comic arcs.

Their Justice line was spectacular, and, I believe, it was the longest one they had going prior to the Arkham game. If there's one line I regret getting out of, it's that one.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Question. Should the BTAS Joker figure have green hair like the Maquette statue?

Or should the figure have black hair? In the cartoon he had green hair, but it always looked black with green highlights.

The old Kenner figure had black hair with a single green highlight.

Any idea? Personally, I prefer the black hair. All green looks a bit weird...unless they use a very dark green maybe?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I like how the Kenner figure had the black with green streaks.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, do it like Kenner.

I love my Joker maquette to death, but I've always hated how they did the hair. The all green is just wrong. I thought about painting over it but never had the guts. But yeah, they should just do it like Kenner, just make the green a little lighter and more prominent.

Dr Voltz are higher than retail.

Bought only Batman from Arkham, not a fan of the rest of the line. But what's a complete Arkham line? How many figures? And you guys must have short memories from all the lines DC Direct started and stopped. I was always disappointed in the different lines not being completed. There is no way this BTAS line will be completed at that price which is $5.00 more than the Arkham Batman I bought at $19.99. There's a whole mess of figures to be made to complete a BTAS line.

Multiple waves doesn't mean a complete set. Blackest Night was a bomb with many figures ending up in the discount bins. If they did indeed complete that line they chose the wrong one! :lol

I think ALL of the BTAS/TNBA look better black with green highlights. When I used to have the maquette you posted above, I had painted his hair in that scheme and it looked much, much better. I can't find any old pics. This one's custom:
