Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

:lol

No sooner do I say this and Mattel unveil Kenner "Super Powers" cards for figures they've already done. Seriously, I don't think there is anything left to do anymore as far as toys and originality go.

I chuckled when I saw that they wanted $30 for Mxyzptlk. Every man's grail is a 3" tall, non-articulated Clint Howard look-a-like in a yellow dress and a purple bowler hat.

Yeah, I believe those are all $30 too. That kind of goes into what you and I were saying before about the current pricing trend.

You know what that Batman cost me in 2008 when I bought it?

$15 bucks.

Where do they get the nerve to charge double that for Batman (who comes with literally nothing)? Mxyzptlk is a 3-4" preposed statue, not far from those old 90s Applause figurines that were at video stores like Suncoast or Blockbuster. $30 for that? They're mad.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Are these gonna be a matty collector thing too? Because then you have to factor in the eye watering shipping from digital river too

I don't know what's worse, matty actually thinking this is an ok price or the people that will happily pay them for this

Mxyzptlk and gentle giants alien repro are the definite front runners for rip off of the year

I haven't bought Mattel stuff in years; way before the classics series ever came along did I stop, but, due to my general interest in toys, I do follow the stuff, and one of the funniest things I've ever seen had to be an interview with that "Toy Guru" guy. Apparently, people wanted the Doomsday "unleashed" figure that was one of the rewards for their subscription program reaching, I think it was "Tier 2" ("Tier 1" is the Doomsday you can see in the photo group that those Super Powers figs came from). Basically, the guy goes off on a rant about how people should stop bugging Mattel about the Doomsday figure because, if they wanted him so bad, they'd have paid the $200 or so dollars for figures that weren't that good to begin with, in order to get the privilege of buying him. It's laughable.

That's pretty cool, but, I'll be honest, one of my biggest curiosities with this newly announced DCC line is just how far they'll take it. It'd be neat if, providing the Batman line was incredibly successful and long running, they did a full blown Timm-based Terry figure, as well as old Bruce and so on, and so forth.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

$30 for those re-releases? :slap

Now that's exactly what I was talking about, some figures are worth $20 or $25, some definitely are NOT, and those re-releases are the perfect example.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

So we're only getting 4 BTAS figures this year in November correct? So how much will they cost next year for the second and third waves when as you guys say, "costs go up, that's just the way it is"? And how much will they cost when wave 7 hits with Mad Hatter? The point is, they won't get to wave 7 at these prices. Did you see that pic that someone posted earlier in the thread with all the characters he'd like to see? 3/4's of that pic won't get done because you know what; there won't be enough people out there willing to pay $25 for a Mad Hatter to justify the cost of producing one. They killed the line before they started it.

And $25 retail price at Toys R Us or Wal Mart means my comic shop will sell them for $30. The line is dead. Now get to work on that custom Mad Hatter. :wink1:

I think you underestimate what will be a (more than usual) completest mentality for this line.

I beg to differ... LOOK at The Arkham line.. it started in 2011 and it's still going strong.... And the prices have not changed that much really.. Simple as this if you dont like the prices don't buy it...

You seem to not understand the concept that companies don't price items to cater to what you think they should cost. A business has expenses they need to worry about covering and making a profit in the end at the same time. We don't know what they incur for costs when making their products or how much those costs have changed over time. Price increases are common in just about anything, I agree with you that figures are expensive but it's life, things normally go up in price over time.

How many Atkham figures/waves do they release per year?

$30??? :lol DC figures went up $5 in just a few hours of my pissing and moaning today!

Well, we are sure going to see which collectors put their money where there mouth is, won't we? :lol

Damn that Wonder Woman looks nice. See, I'd buy two of those for $17.00 each but one for $30...nah. Pass.
