Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think the first one is from The Cat and The Claw, and the second one is from Batgirl Returns.

The sculpts are, but the painting isn't.

SH Figuarts and Figma don't use that much paint on a lot of their figures though. At least the DBZ figures I have don't. The only real advantages are the articulation and maybe the interchangeable faces....but even those figures are more expensive, maybe because they're imported.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

went to 3 different comic shops today.most of the batman I saw had paint blemishes/scuffs on his thighs or cheecks.Gonna hold out till I see a good one.In the meantime I saw these and had to get them.so cool lookin.love dustin nguyens art

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I hate those L'il Gotham figures. Every time I look at them, I get sad that they aren't full sized.:lol

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The Star Wars Black Series figures are better made than this Batman, especially Pilot Luke, Han Solo, Boba Fett, Chewbacca and the Sandtrooper.

Yeah, those are the ones I really like too. Planet of the Apes figs are less than $20 and I like those too. $20 is a lot of money for a 6" figure. I just feel I'm really getting ripped off with the BTAS priced at $25 so I'm going to stay away from those. And I have hundreds and hundreds of figures in my collection but enough is enough; got to take a stand at some point.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

@Buzz Don't be fooled by mold recycling, what you got there, is a re-use of a mold with a lot less paint apps than the original Boba (which goes for $24 on BBTS), believe it or not it's probably a lot more expensive to make the DCC ones than the Proto Boba, given how every character has very unique molds, and other than the joints, DCC's overall plastic quality tends to be better than Hasbro's.

Recycling molds is something Hasbro is well known for, not DCC, just look at the Marvel Legends figures.

But Boba Fett is one of the best figures Hasbro has ever put out, but the average of their products has nowhere near that level of detail, DCC easily trumps them in that regard.

Take a look at this figure.

You may think it's a pretty decent sculpt huh? Well that body mold has been used easily on dozens and dozens of different characters, what they do is repaint it (rarely any new sculpting) and swap parts from other characters, throw on a headsculpt with minimum detail and call it a day... That's the average Hasbro figure.

Now DCC's Bizarro.

Every single thing is sculpted and painted with detail, there's not a single figure that shares anything with that figure, there rarely is.

You can see they could've reused the Superman mold on the left, easy money, but they didn't, everything's different, they even threw in extra articulation.

That's the average DCC figure, better and more individual sculpts and better paint, that's why DCC tends to cost more.

You can't blame them for the style of the figures, they even sculpted parts they could've just painted on like the bat logo, belt, etc, but they didn't.

Yeah that Boomerang is junk but the Black Cat from that set was real nice and the Black Widow from the Winter Soldier set with the two heads, great likeness and priced at $20 was real boss. I don't see that quality in the BTAS figures.

That Bizarro figure looks great, detail-wise, so I would think the BTAS would be cheaper. IDK. They are much simpler figures.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I really don't understand where you're "not seeing that quality" in the TAS figures. I could understand the QC issues, but they look like solid figures, for the most part. The sculpts are superb, they have a lot of articulation, interchangeable parts, and loads of accessories for what? $5 more?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

The Joker I mentioned before:

Based on the designs from the hit show Batman: The Animated Series
From the episode "The Last Laugh"
Figure stands 6.25" H
18 points of articulation
Comes with a helmet, make up sponge, knife, pearl necklace, telescope, Joker card, brick, additional hands, comb and cologne bottle

Maybe you don't want all that stuff, but, nevertheless, all that for $25 doesn't seem too bad to me.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

They're not horrible, but it's hard to admire the quality when you compare them to these...

I collect figures from DCC and I know the battle of finding one without a paint flaw.

(All of the photos I listed are of production pieces)

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Aren't those $60+ figures?

They all start around $29 (imported) and can go up to $40+, depending on the size/accessories.

If the demand is high for a particular character, the price can go WAY up after a few weeks on the market.

That pearl necklace is a good accessory for Batman :yess:

$29...say what? I don't think so. The figma Link starts $49 + shipping here in the States , The Goku is $31 +shipping and handling and that one doesn't come with much, Android 16 and Broly are $60+. The only SH figuarts I've seen for less than $30 are the Super Mario figures and even Luigi is over $30, but I'm still getting it. I PO the new Figma Solid Snake, and that one is $89, for a 6 inch figure :lol

As far as I know, most Figmas go from $40 and up (at least the ones I have are no less than $60).

Figuarts DBZ are a lot cheaper though, so if anyone puts DCC (Or any other American company) to shame is Figuarts since their prices are so competitive and the quality is outstanding. (but you still have to pay S&H)

Then you have the Revol minis, now THOSE are overpriced :lol

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I respect that the accessories are episode specific and that we gt a lot of them -but the Joker's accessories are lame. And I hate to say it because he's my favorite character!

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

^ Aside from the Joker cards, knife, additional hands and helmet (just 'cos it's cool!) I have to agree unfortunately. Those others are pretty useless to me, but nice that they went to the effort to make episode specific accessories though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

So, are these QC breaking issues even worse than DCC's Arkham line, for those who know it? Cause if that's the case that's just pretty effing ******. That means they'll probably becomes loose as **** over time as well, even if you don't break them.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

So long as these things don't break straight out of the box, $25 is a very fair price for these, considering the property and all of the accessories.

I've yet to decide whether or not to get these from the LCS or the mall, where I can at least check for egregious paint errors, or order these through DCBS, which is a lot more convenient, though I would have to hope for clean paint. The $17 price is very tempting, but S/H could eat into that.

That's because you are paying the importer an extra fee. I ordered Snake from HLJ, and it was around $60 (shipping is not much more than shipping from the U.S.). Link was about $30. The costs of producing and selling these figures aren't as high as you are paying, in other words.

I definitely wouldn't order these online, too risky. You're basically going in blind as to what you're buying. I saw a couple the other day with horribly painted eyes, bat-symbols painted on incorrectly (didn't match up) and smears. Hell, I thought I picked up a perfect one and not only did the ankles break, but there was that weird mold deformity on the side of the torso that the twist tie was covering up.

Online, you're essentially going in blind. A least in stores you get a chance to cherry pick. When it comes down to it, you could even buy 2-3 in a store, open them up, inspect/cherry pick the best one and then take the other 2-3 back. That seems like too much of a hassle in my opinion, but if someone is looking for a "good one", going to the store to see them in person is way better than buying them online from a store that has a random stock photo. Also, it's not like this figure is going to sell out. There are going to be sooooo many of this *******. It's a wave 1 figure, it's the first figure, it's Batman, it's the holidays and the start of a new year. There's going to be a butt load.

On the subject of SH figuarts. I bought the whole set of the Mighty Morphin 93' Power Rangers they did (minus the White and Black armored rangers) and none of them had problems. They retail in the US for $39 and overseas for $30. They're smaller, more complex and have way more accessories. ALL the paint applications are perfect, from the visor accents on the helmet to the body suits. No bleeds, no slop, no mistakes. Those are clean and pure quality. They also have attractive packages that are collector friendly. You don't have to rip them open and damage the box, sort of like Hot Toys.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

My comic shop sells these for $19.95 a pop. At that price, the Batman was easily one of the best (if not the best) brick-and-mortar toy purchases I have made in quite a long time.

That being said... Mine had no QC issues. Had it broke, I would be singing a different tune.

Sallah
