It looks like Joker will be back at #1 at the box office this weekend.

I posted it on the wrong thread. :lol

All the SW talk got me confused.

You watch this again yet Jye??

I watched it last weekend again.. Opinion did not change much except that the parts I didnt like the first time I really didnt like the 2nd.

Pretty much anything doing with the De Niro character Mur - ray.. I don't like any of the fantasies surrounding the character, I don't like the show (who the hell would watch that :lol), I don't care for the character himself... Perhaps its because everything surrounding that plot was the most "rip offish" of the MS film King of Comedy. It just bored me. Add to that that you could see the outcome a mile a way.. I mean I knew what was going to happen just from the trailers.. No way Mur-ray was surviving the Joker.

I really hate how the Joker talks when he is on the show at the end. He very feminine delivery makes no sense. One might say its the Joker being theatrical.. But It annoyed me the first time and really annoyed me the 2nd.

I was bothered more by the "oh poor me" dialogue then I was the first time. Perhaps Jye's constant bitching about that had something to do with it :lol

My actually fav moment when he comes across as scary is when he is fired from his job and he passive aggressively threatens the guy who gave him the gun... That was the Jokers voice IMO.

Anyways... Its good.. I don't think its nearly as great as some here think it is ? But its yet another film released this year that was better then Endgame :lol

I thought I was the only one who noticed that since no one mentioned it, but I wasn't sure if it was just me or if he really seemed effeminate. When he's finally about to shoot Murray, and he says, "How about another Joke Muhraay!" I thought his demeanor and mannerism were very effeminate. I actually like it. The Joker was very effeminate in The Dark Knight Returns, and this movie obviously used the talk show scene from that book. I see it as a reference to that comic.

And it made the same amount of profit too. :lol

He is very effeminate in the whole interview... He says Muhraay the whole time and is just very girly. I thought about The Dark Knight Returns comic also during that scene.and how he was represented in that story.. The first time I watched it I gave it a pass for that very reason.. The 2nd time I couldn't.. Joker was always a bit effeminate in that Frank Miller story.. Not so with the movie... It just comes out of nowhere. Add to that that its the time he is being his most whinny... IDK it just didn't work for me.. Not the 2nd time anyways.

Some of my friends hated it also... But they don't read the comics..

I thought his shirtless dancing with the gun was also effeminate, but creepy. There's a playfulness about his behavior sometimes, like the way he skips around after shooting Murray. His dancing in the bathroom after shooting the guys and on the patrol car also lacked masculinity. There are hints of it through the film, like the way he said, "What?", to the Arkham clerk when he was reading the file.

Even the way he holds his cigarette reminds me of TDKR Joker. There's definitely a effeminate quality about him, which I can attribute to him being raised by a woman with no father figure around, not that all men raised by single mothers are effeminate, but I can see it in this case.

Well JAWS I also have seen it twice.

I actually appreciated it more on 2nd viewing.

However.

It is an interesting movie that exists in a very unique prism.

Why do I say this.

Because if you pivot that prism ever so slightly just a few degrees one way the movie completely crumbles into a mess.

A mess how.

Like this:

A whiny bitchy cacky Joker
A Joker with baby mama issues
A Joker too heavily impacted by every day problems that doesn?t turn billions of others into whiny babies and criminals.
A Joker too heavily dependent on others.
A Joker who would?ve just stayed in bed moping with no plan had Murray not called him. Joker luck get it.
Too much of an on the nose rip off from other movies.
Another story element ripped out from the TDKR comic playbook.
And i?ll leave the worst for last, a movie that just might entirely be in his head, yikes!

Ok now pivot that prism ever so slightly the other way and BAM a freaking masterpiece!

A gorgeous movie!
A well acted tour de force by JP!
A realistic grind of a story that is easier for audiences to relate with and also be affected by it unlike MCU cosmic events.
Some truly amazing personal set pieces I mean truly jaw dropping specific scenes!
Cohesive enough to withstand repeat viewings.

Ok it?s your prism you twist and turn it however you damn want now if you please I must return to raining pee on Clowns and Wor-Gars Joker parade lol

Joker 2 is so not going to live up to Joker 1 or even worse they don?t do a sequel and this movie was a complete big waste of time lol

Oh and WB is going from Joker to Birds of Prey lol

This movie is a triumph. A triumph for *all* genres offering R-rated fare, a triumph for political incorrectness (violent white protagonist, cigarettes, terms like "midget," etc.) a triumph for artsy films, a triumph for artsy *comic book films*, character dramas, etc. I mean it's the freaking #1 film out of *all* R-rated offerings. I might not care for Deadpool but bravo to it and Logan for paving the way for this and whatever comes next.

Is the Exorcist on the list of highest grossing R.

I agree violent white males should always be celebrated instead of being frowned upon says no one ever lol

I think Exorcist is on the highest grossing list of all time when you adjust for inflation (which I'm sure is way higher than Joker.) But still that Bronx staircase can never appear in another movie without people thinking of Arthur Fleck, lol.

Funny how long stair cases connect Exorcist with Joker.

I just walked by those steps this week it?s a really bad area lol
