Modest budget or not it still has no chance of out-profiting a film that earned 2.8 billion.

Unless you just mean how many times its budget it'll earn like Mad Max, Blair Witch and those other films we were discussing not too long ago.

Remember, the film cost over 300 mill and over 200 million in marketing. The china take isn't much because china keeps most of it, and theaters get half. Still, half a billion is still ridiculous profit.

Then, there's the cast and whatever deal RDJ has with Disney. I don't know that's included in the budget.

800 million without China is pretty insane.

And other than the same 4 people in here I don't hear anyone talking about this movie. Where the hell is it doing so well?

This forum is dying. Same 4 or 5 people posting. It's sad. :(

It's the same on that other forum/website. Same few people that used to be here posting.

Sadly this is true. People talk on social media and groups on Facebook. Nobody uses forums like that anymore. Times have changed

Yeah YouTube is where a lot of the action is right now too. Which is fine, I dabble there as well from time to time but I'm old school and will probably always prefer the back and forth on message boards for however long they last.

A small group is fine as long as it's a good group which is definitely what we have here.

I don?t buy into the 500 million profit for Joker especially if the movie cost with marketing 225 million and that?s being conservative with the marketing!

When the movie hits 900 do the math that will put the movie within a profit window around 275-325 million.

I?m reading that WB is throwing post theatrical sales into the mix.

Grant it i?m sure Disney and all other studios play the same game but still I don?t buy what WB is reporting lol

What other thread? Yes always shilling for me like when you blindly agreed with me on Alita, John Wick, BR2049, RPO, Under the Skin, A Ghost Story, Ex Machina, Fury Road, a good portion of Joker, etc., lol.

I thought that the movie only cost around $50 million to make. I'm not sure what the marketing costs were but they shouldn't have been $175 million.

There are no official numbers, only estimates from Dateline and Variety that put it at, 50 -70 mill budget.

It could be a lot less than 50, imo. It doesn't look like they spent that much.

You're joking.

I heard $55M and thought that was high for this movie given what I saw. Maybe the $55 already included marketing -- because $30M plus another $25M for advertising makes much more cents.

The budget was 70 without advertising.

C?mon Wor you know very well that marketing a high profile studio movie doesn?t cost less than 100 million.

Dude those giant billboards alone all over NY and NJ probably cost 55 million alone lol

Regardless the movie is indeed a huge success and a well deserved one at that.
