Batwing and Red Lantern look cool.

I only have a few DC TPB's and hardbacks and hadn't bought any in a long while. So maybe some of the fans out there can explain something to me.

I bought the Blackest Night hardcover opened it and was very annoyed to find those "wrinkled shiny newspaper" type of paper used, it turned me way off and i haven't actually read it yet.

The Marvel books i buy have a smooth shiny paper used and it feels smooth where as the DC one feels rough.

If this only on Hardbacks now? or is there a difference in paper in The DC/Titan versions?

I'm interested to get into the new relaunch but not if the paper feels cheap to hold and look at :(

Anyonyone know anything about this?

So... DC is okay with turning Superman (of all characters) into an ex-pat Pinko... but they're uncomfortable having Batman beat up a few homicidal Islamic terrorists? That should tell us a lot about the current state of DC Comics leadership & their care for these characters right there.

according to frank miller it was his decision to remove batman from the story.

and how the hell is superman a "pinko"? because morrison wants to make clark "a social reformer"? superman used to punch out war profiteers! lets not forget he was created by two liberal jewish immigrants sons. superman was tied to social justice since his very beginnings. are we equating social justice with socialism? :slap

It's odd to see DC getting Marvel Ultimate Universe envy after so long. Marvel at least kept the classic lines going, but DC went full retard.

I will not buy DC again until Dan Didio is gone.

Well, I gave Justice League #1 a shot via digital download on my iPad ($3.99 an issue. Geezus, standard comics are now more expensive than the entire 'The Killing Joke' graphic novel was!)...

It was... okay. Still trying to figure out why Johns (of all people) made Hal/Green Lantern such an utterly unlikable twat right off the bat. :cuckoo::dunno And Jim Lee remains one of the most overrated comic artists in modern times.

I tend to agree with this. Didio is a Grade A bonafide bafoon. I never liked the guy, even in his behind-the-scenes interviews on the various DC related DVDs. He doesn't come across as intelligent at all, and his "leadership" at DC so far has borne that out.

$4 an issue. . .____.

Yeah. $3.99 seems to be the new average price for a single comic book. And some of these issues (like JL #1) can be read in 5 minutes or less. Ridiculous. That's not just the digital price either (which I'd think would be slightly cheaper, if anything)... that's the price of actual printed copies, too.

I've been almost exclusively TPB for awhile now, but I picked up an issue of Hulk awhile back b/c of the Art Adams art, and it did feel like 1/2 a comic's worth of material for 2X what I feel a comic should cost. As usual, I reckon I'll just wait to find a TPB sale to pick up some of this stuff, if I bother at all.

Yeah. Especially when you can still buy some amazing graphic novels & TPBs for 15-20 bucks.

I have seen very few at amazon.com (including hardcovers) that go for more than $15. Hell, the Vampirella archive hardcovers are just over $30, and they're almost 400 pages each.

I didn't see it that way really. I saw it as Johns pushing the Green Lantern is "green" and unexperienced kind of angle. Hal spouting off what the ring can do or what he can do and being completely in love with his powers is akin to a young man who suddenly inherited a ton of power or money.

I also think it'll contrast great against the seasoned Sinestro for his own title.

Which is exactly why more and more people are just downloading them for free on the net like music via sharing programs. Necessity is the mother of invention..oh yes she is.:nana:
