Nothing wrong with Ferris Bueller or Fight Club.

And Alan Moore & Grant Morrison were masters at dancing with a fourth wall. Promethea, Invisibles, Doom Patrol and Supreme are amongst my absolute favourite reads.

Ummm... that's the whole point of it.

but then when you have serious stories where the other characters like spiderman are not in on it, then it becomes a mess.

4th wall breaking works for comedies only. not for action stuff, I cringe when I see deadpool break 4th wall in front of spiderman.

Ive always felt 4th wall breaking is kind of stupid and retarded. when I watch a movie it's almost like hearing a tale, or hearing someone telling a story about something that happened.

So imagine if the person telling you a story keeps doing this:

"so I felt and grabbed the rope, But remember THIS IS FAKE ok? None of this happened, im making it up as I go.... so anyway I was hanging from the rope and i was about to fall into the river BUT REMEMBER, This is a FAKE story!..... So yeah I climbed the rope and I made it to safety, Thank god I didn't fall in the river, ....A RIVER THAT DOESNT EVEN EXIST!

to me that's how 4th wall breaking feels like every time. cant take it seriously because it keeps telling me not to

I finally saw this, it was ok but I hated the love story, it was stupid and not really necessary
I'm kinda glad it didn't too much of the movie.
The origin story was cliche.
Basically I loved any scenes in the present (taxi cab scenes, bridge fight scene. X men scenes, apartment scenes, the stuff before the final scenes

Any flashback or origin stuff was as cliche as any other superhero movie, I don't know, that was boring.
The 12 months of sex stuff felt like something an immature teenager soul write about.

I don't know, I really liked the stuff after he fully becomes deadpool but I hated the origin.flashback stuff.

The final fight was pretty cliche too. The one against Ajax

It was nice to see but I don't understand why male it a love story like that.....

I think they just wanted to please the girlfriends in the audience that went with their nerdy bfs.

The game did it much much better. I liked the story in the game much more. The jokes in the game were better and deadpool was funnier.
Repeatedly using the word "cliche" as a way to review a movie is cliche lol

I agree with Crows in a lot of what he said, except the last fight and the fact that it's a love story, DP has quite a few love stories and going-after-my-gf stories, nothing wrong with that.

I also agree on the sex scenes, it was kinda funny the 1st time I saw it but it was pretty juvenile, even for Deadpool, American Pie level stuff.

And yeah there's clichés in this movie, but Deadpool is allowed to be cliché from time to time.

Well for a movie that is mocking superhero cliches and just mocking super hero movies in general, the love story was kind of dumb.
Doing a romantic comedy/ hero action movie was not that great for me.

If they didn't brag so much about how different this was, or how it was making fun of the bad parts of comic movies, but then they add a romantic plot.

Green lantern also had a romantic plot as well :lol. I don't know I didn't expect that to be so big in the movie.

For such a violent and edgy and perverted character, having a romantic comedy plot almost feels like a safe choice.

True, I was pretty sick hearing about how "different" this movie was.

He's violent and pervy alright, bit imo he's not really edgy, in fact he's pretty innocent, so innocent he was able to lift Thor's hammer once :lol and he does have a heart and has had some girlfriends, which of course always ends up bad for him :monkey2 so I had no problem with the romantic comedy aspect. In fact, it was one of the few marketing pieces for this that I loved.

I think the only problem with the romantic plot for me, was that it was a happy ending, Deadpool doesn't get many happy endings like this one, so I guess it's ok, he deserves it.

I thought most women hated him and I thought he was just horny all the time.

Now I kind of wish he was fully gay in the movies.

I think they spent too much time with the girlfriend, I know he has gfs in the comics and even a romance with death,
But... Do they become the most important thing in the Comic stories?

Yup they do, they hate him and they're disgusted by him, but from time to time they see that he's actually a good guy and they give him a break.

Yes they do, they very much do, there are 2 or 3 stories that came to mind atm that are all about saving the girlfriend, hell, his wife got her own series :lol

You mean the time spent with the gf? Yeah I'd say it's about right when compared to the stories about Deadpool's girlfriends. But I mean, it's not like he always has a GF, it's just a handful of DP stories like that, but they do exist.

Deadpools definitely all over the place with relationships. There are some where it's purely fun and excitement but there are others where he's truly smitten and shows a different side of his personality. While they were never together, siryn is a prime example of that.

yeah this bugs me a lot, in terms of over all plots it was one of the most simple/ general superhero stories Ive seen on screen. I cant help but compare it directly to wolverine origins

Looks like Deadpool is slowing down to the point that it won't be able to topple Passion of the Christ as highest grossing R rated film domestically. Still, it's funny as hell that Jesus and a murderous Canadian are the top two.
