Do you hope that there will one day be an episode 7, 8 and 9?

No.
Last time Old man Lucas screwed with the OT we got Greedo shooting first, Han stepping on Jabba's tail and the one that really got me was having Hayden Christensen replace Sebastian Shaw in the final scene that shows the ghosts of Darth Vader, Yoda, and Obi wan Kenobi standing together. That scene used to be so emotional to me because it showed Anakin redeemed by his son and joining the lightside in the end.

I remember when I first saw this scene, I got up and walked out of the room. My wife was like "hey, where are you going" lol

:lecture :lecture :lecture While I found the shootout redux annoying, Han stepping on Jabba didn't really annoy me. But yes, I really hated the end of ROTJ. That's the one "SE" addition that pissed me off the most too (although Pix probably needed a new pair of chonies after that scene :p) and sent me straight to the DVD stop button.

As for making more movies, didn't Lucas say in an interview that that would be left up to his kids? I'd love to see the Zahn novels turned into movies, but likely getting that done in enough time to include the original cast will be near impossible, which would blow donkeys, so I'd prefer they explored other aspects of the SW universe.

I know Lucas said he's done with SW movies, but he's said alot of things and changed his mind. If the technology ever gets good enough to render photorealistic people I could see him doing more just to push the technology. Imagine a realistic looking film, but no need for actors or sets. That would be GL's dream. Though, I'm not sure that will happen in his lifetime which may not be a bad thing for us.

how quickly people forget.

The tech is here NOW. it's just a question of actually doing it. and please note the YEAR, and remember we've had 9 years of increasing tech since then. it's possible to make CGI look FAR MORE REAL than She did. Or the rest of the film. and even then, it looked pretty damn good.

This is true. There were quite a few shots in BB where Batman was actually CGI. When the crew was asked to pick which was the real one in a comparison shot with a live actor, they all chose the CGI image.

I like having some things shrouded in mystery. Yoda and Palpatine's past are really things I'd hate to have revealed.

I would be more than fine with it if a talented filmmaker could do with Star Wars what Abrams did with Star Trek: Mix the fun and excitement that made the OT great, with the well-written screenplay it deserves, and use the right blend of sets and CGI.

If they are just more two hour toy commercials with a script written on autopilot shot entirely on a bluescreen, and directed by Lucas himself... who am I kidding, I would see them anyway, but they still wouldn't very good.

Same here. Nothing is sacred anymore. I don't need/want to know the backstories of everything that moves in the galaxy. None of it will ever have the impact of the originals.

It would be more productive to put that creative energy into creating completely new franchises. Nobody wants to take a risk anymore.

nope, lucas and his brood ain't gonna allow it.
unless the rights one day falls into "outsider" hands.

i agree that a new film maker (not necessarily jj abrams but someone with talent and vision) would bring back the glory days of star wars. it CAN be great again. wishful thinking tho...

I don't know, I feel that ROTS proved to me that Lucas might have learned a few lessons from the first two prequel movies. ROTS was a great SW film, as good as the OT in my opinion.

So maybe if he was involved to a certain point - I mean, he'd have to be unless we're talking after his death - sequels to the OT could work. I'm not sure I'd want him as the director and certainly not writing the final dialogue.

And as for Lucas saying "it'll never happen", I seem to recall him also saying at one point that episodes 1-3 will never happen either. I also remember something about the OT never being released in their original form. Things change, and if there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that George loves making money of Star Wars... and we can all imagine the sort of money a sequel trilogy would make.

I'd like Episodes 7, 8 , & 9 one day...and I don't have a problem with Lucas. I think he needs to take a step back after the prequels and let somebody else direct. The problem now with Lucasfilm is that there are too many "yes men" around him that will agree with practically everything. Somebody should've stood up when Jar Jar was put in the episode 1 screen play.

Legacy is one option, so far in the future that only Luke is really needed...

And Darth Vader...and Mara Jade...but THAT'S IT...

And Darth Talon...

A few years ago I recall reading an article with a Star Wars author and they asked him about time line and he said that there is a gape of time that LFL tell authors that is hands-off and they cannot touch....At that time, he said it was 20 years after the OT. I found that very interesting....It was like he was reserving that time in case he wanted to go back and make Ep. VII-IX.

I don't know if they have broken that rule, but that was the dictum to authors from from LFL about 5 or 6 years ago.

There are alot of books set during the 20 years after the OT. In fact a new one set a year after ROTJ just came out, Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. So I guess they have changed that. Maybe it was there in the first place because so many other novels have been set during those years they don't want to overcrowd them.

Sorry, all I'm seeing is a red x. I'm sure they can render realistic, but things like "Beowulf" still look cartoony. If you were to render a photorealistic person I imagine the cost to do a feature length film would enormous. Well, now at least.

That timeline's pretty much been eaten up by the SW novels. :lol

I thought it was that he "reserved" the time that he ended up using for the PT.
