Do you hope that there will one day be an episode 7, 8 and 9?

There are alot of books set during the 20 years after the OT. In fact a new one set a year after ROTJ just came out, Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor. So I guess they have changed that. Maybe it was there in the first place because so many other novels have been set during those years they don't want to overcrowd them.

No, 20 years after....not during the 20 years after.

Sorry, all I'm seeing is a red x. I'm sure they can render realistic, but things like "Beowulf" still look cartoony. If you were to render a photorealistic person I imagine the cost to do a feature length film would enormous. Well, now at least.

Go watch final fantasy the spirts within, and know that in 2005 this was the best of the best, high end CGI. and know that today it's possible to do even better.

The pictire, which for whatever reason is now gone. was the main character in swimwear. here is another.

the Entire film was CGI.

Ah, that makes sense. I just checked and the only novel set during that time is one with Luke and Mara investigating the Outbound Flight ship from the Thrawn Trilogy. The NJO takes place 25 years after ANH or 21 years after ROTJ so that's a bit of a tight squeeze.

The face looks animated, but the body looks pretty good.

I'm a SW nerd. Have been since I saw Empire Strikes Back as my first movie in the theater when I was 4 yrs. old(I feel old). I used to think I wanted Lucas to make the Prequels and then 7,8 and 9. But honestly after seeing the prequels I don't want any more SW movies. And honestly that's not intended to bash the prequels either. IMO, the real story of SW is the Skywalker family and how a single person can change the destiny of the entire galaxy.

I do also think Lucas lost sight of what made SW so magical: the characters and the story. I enjoy the Phantom Menace and love Revenge of the Sith, but Attack of the Clones was not a good movie. Characters have to be interesting to make a compelling story, and everyone in AOTC (except Kenobi) were flat, dull characters with no growth. Their was no sense of drama and whole movie seems very out of place with the rest.

My point is, I don't want another entry in the series tarnishing my love for SW. AOTC really made me question my loyalty to the story, and more stories set after Jedi would seem to be made only to make more $$$.
I just don't see a story that needs to be told. Vader is redeemed by his son, the Empire fell and balance was returned to the force. And dancing Ewoks. You don't top that :lol

I feel the need to step in and say that while the PT was in no way near as good a the OT it does have it's strong points and some good parts, sure it was blown chance..but ti's not as bad as some people are making it out to be. Problem is Lucas too much power, his overused of bad CGI, special effects over character and story development, and just dry dialogue have plague the PT.

There's something magic about the OT. The PT tries to explain things and fails. Such as this mystic idea of the force being midichlorians. Epic Fail. The PT has an overproduced feeling to it. So while I enjoy it and take it for what it is, I can't help but only see what could have been compared to what we got.

imo, the biggest failure of the prequels were that episodes 1 n 2 were wasted opportunities. meaning u could watch just ep3 and it would still make perfect sense and serve as a adequate bridge to the original trilogy. it's self-contained enough.

lucas failed to really make the story of young anakin's history MATTER in ep1 n 2. even anakin's relationship with obi-wan was not given enough substance.

u certainly couldn't say the same for ep 4 - 6. miss any one of them and u'd be missing integral parts of the plot and character development.

As much as I hate to say this as I really enjoyed the film and loved seeing all the puzzle pieces fit, ROTS was just as redundant. We already knew what happened. And years before TPM ever came out, I remember hearing that Obi had destroyed Anakin in a fight over a "volcano." But again, we get the gist of it in Vader and Ben's brief conversation before their duel in ANH.

true. but going by that rationale, ANY prequel is redundant.

i think there's room for fleshing out the stories that characters have already described in words. there's still a lot of blanks to be filled between what they said and what really happened.

If anyone ever made a new film, they wont but in case they did, I know people will just blast it and hate it like the prequels. Nothing will ever be as good as the OT even though the OT are far from perfect films. Most people will never accept anything that isn't the OT. Heck most people don't acknowledge the EU anyway.

Just stick with books for stories outside the six films I say.

You'd be shocked at how misguided this statement is.

There is such a cult following on the literature that precede, surround and succeed the films that it would be something that I doubt could be pulled off. The merchandising has only complimented the EU and hell, they have even included elements in the OT special editions (Dash's Outrider in the Special Edition) to acknowledge this format. The live action series will probably pick from this material(especially if they hire writers from the novels) to us as some sort of basis for storytelling.

I was excited for 7, 8, and 9 at one time, I remember when the SE were released and the prequels were beginning to be talked about reading something that stated Lucas always intended SW to be a nine part series of three trilogies. However seeing that he really didn't have a comprehensive story and seemed to make the prequels up as he went along I'm glad he's said there are no, and never will be, episodes 7, 8, and 9.

If he were to reverse his decision on that I hope he comes up with a comprehensive story, but more importantly others do most of the work. Lucas is a good idea man, and he's good for pushing the technology, the rest...not so much.

I read, somewhere, that he had axed 7, 8, and 9 when he was writing ROTJ. That the final trilogy was supposed to be about Vader's redemption and helping to defeat the Emperor, and GL just packed the whole trilogy into the final 5 minutes of ROTJ. And his reason was that after episodes 4, 5, and 6, he was sick of Star Wars.

I hope parts 1, 2 and 3 get deleted and another trilogy of prequels are being made, with :maul and Grievous mixed in

Anakin would become vader HALFWAY ep 3 were we see him enslaving planets and destroying almost all of the goodguys

Yes i know...

I often fantasize that Geoge Lucas will come out on April 1st, laughing, and tell the world that everything Star Wars since Return of the Jedi has been a colossal April Fool's prank.

7, 8, and 9? Yeah, because as disappointed as I am with the direction Star Wars took, and the shoddy cinematography that was used to bring us the PT, I still love the whole franchise.

Much like someone would love the second child that came out to be a demon compared to the first, angelic child.

And I would like to see Vader restored as a Jedi in EVII so we could see him fight some new baddies for EVIII and EIX.

I'm one of the rare ones that actually like the prequels for what they are. I also LOVE the EU material (most of it anyways) and would love to see 7, 8 and 9...

It doesn't matter what Lucas says or does now or in the future... there will come a day when Star Wars is out of his control.

Episodes 7, 8, 9 and beyond will happen when Lucas is gone and his company is run by a board of directors/accountants that are interested in turning profit for shareholders... just like every other major or mini/major studio.

I can't really say I'm that interested, at one stage in the 1980's SURE!!!! but since the Prequels I can see that Mine & GLs vision don't match. I'd possibly be up for a revisualisation of the OT from someone taking it in more mature direction.

mature meaning less PG! more M or MA rating ie: no JarJar stepping in Poop Jokes LOL!
Don't get me wrong there in nothing wrong with the OT IMO! But a remake would have to take it to the next level for me to overcome the actor & design changes :p

should we start another thread on should & what if the OT was to be remade?
