I was really hoping for this guy.

Crap.

I said this in the AOU thread too but I'll post it here as well.

I loved Benedict in Sherlock since the show first aired and love him as an actor in general but, even though I wouldn't have cast him as Stephen, I'll see how he does.

I would've rather see someone a little less known. I just really hope he'll make me see him in the film as Stephen Strange and not just Benedict Cumberbatch playing a douchey doctor turned sorcerer supreme. In Into Darkness, I didn't believe him as being Khan at all. I just saw Benedict being evil. I already had thoughts when the first rumors came out that "ugh, he's just gonna be an even more arrogant version of Sherlock till he gets to Tibet or wherever he goes off to" and still somewhat think this is a tumblr choice but I'm still excited for the film.

As I've said before, I would've preferred someone a bit more mature looking, but he definitely possesses the proper level of theatricality for the role. I bet he could really chew some scenery in a role like this.

I don't like any of these, but at least there will be some silly colourful costume.

WooHoo! :rock

Love Cumberbatch, but not as Strange. The movie will have to persuade me.

I love BC. I think he's a great actor, definitely puts himself into every role and I'm glad he was able to make a deal with Marvel. He's going to play a huge role in the Infinity War so that will be pretty awesome.

Oprah as Waller is actually very ****ing cool, IMO. If it happens, I'll be more excited to see that than really anything else DC has attempted yet post-Nolan. Put bombs in them mother****ers, Oprah.

I like the idea of Oprah playing Waller, though she may insist on the movie to be pg-13 and refuse to drop the F bomb. I also don't like the idea of Smith playing any kind of comic character. His ego alone will crush anything good from this movie. And mixed possibly with Oprah? Ugh.

I want Oprah because I don't want new 52 skinny Waller. I want Amanda "The Wall" Waller in these films. I'm just not a fan of how these movies are going he more New 52 route with their characters. What I like about the Marvel Studios films are that they have the 616 personalities and somewhat the 616 look but with a dash of ultimate thrown in there.

She's a cultural icon, which makes her being in that role an intriguing juxtaposition, and she's an highly respected dramatic actress at the same time. I think some folks are letting the perceptions of Oprah giving away cars or letting Tom Cruise jump on her sofa obscure the reality that she could be awesome as Waller. Now Cumberbatch, he's OK, but nothing special, and is one of these overrated celebrities of the moment we frequently run across. Think Clive Owen about a decade ago. I doubt we'll remember that much about him 5 or 10 years down the road.

I don't care much about the Smith casting, but I'm sure he'll be fine, just like Cabbagepatch will be.

Well since I'm accepting Benedict. You guys think he's gonna keep his accent or go American? Cause judging from 12 Years A Slave, he can do an American accent, albeit southern. He can definitely do a regular one.

Probably depends on how he's written. I think his being a British character could work fine for the purpose of the story, would be less of a hassle for him, and would make him seem slightly more refined and exotic to American moviegoers, which could be good for the charater.
