the movie was a little boring. the matrix stuff (which i was exited for) didnt do much for me. Inception is a more captivating movie.
the plot is the most cookie cutter plot i have ever seen. all marvel movies follow the hero's journey and their origin story but this was pushing it. the development of characters is very thin and everyone is in a rush to get where they need to get for the action scenes. very rushed, might be the most rushed origin marvel movie ive seen.
the villain was also as thin as a sheet of paper. he literally has one emotion... his motivation was interesting but he felt like a robot. he was more robotic than ultron....
i dont hate the movie and i liked parts of it but it wasnt the breakthrough the trailers were making it out to be. this ain't no matrix... it is just a regular super hero movie with a few trinkets here and there.
Imagine marvel movies are all Christmas trees decorated differently
and this movie just happens to have Extra decorations more than the others. Imagine it has double the decorations of another regular tree...
but it is still just a tree underneath. that's what it felt like to me, the weird reality bending scenes were like decorations in a tree that looked really nice but you still only have a tree in front of you.
If anything the inception style visuals were a little distracting because they happened in a way that they didn't feel amazing.
I wish they had gradually showed us their magic powers but the movie starts with the reality bending powers right away and they show it so casually that it loses any amazement it could have had later on.
Then when they keep bending reality and make the buildings go crazy, again it is done so casually that you lose the admiration for the visuals. by the end they dont mean anything.
